My old car kept having the check engine light turn on so instead of taking it to the shop every time, I decided to try this adapter out. Here are some of the highlights, pros, and cons I've noticed in the month I've been using it. - Set up was very simple. I just plugged it in and the app ran me through how to set it up. I had it up and running withing 10 minutes. - GPS tracking works pretty well, though it's always a couple block behind where I am, which is to be expected with lag. This is really useful when my wife comes to pick me up since I can look at my app and see how close she is. I'd imagine it would be a good parenting device too so one could track their kids. That said, I still haven't decided how I feel about a company tracking me everywhere I go, but I guess Apple and Google already do that anyways. - The parking feature does a good job at locating your car, but it can be off a little bit. This would make it harder to find in a sea of cars (such as a sports event). I think parking garages also confuse it. - The app displays a map of your trip, the distance, duration, fuel efficiency, and cost. You can also see all your trips for the day combined into one map and statistic. There's a button you push and it can log it as a business trip for reimbursements. - The diagnostic feature works great and provides a lot of information on the problem. I just wish it could tell you more than just the check engine light like other OBD II readers. It'd be helpful to see things such as the O2 sensors or temperature. - At the end of the week, it'll give you a summary on all your driving. It's helpful in determining how much gas you use. - At the end of the month, it'll give you a driving style summary. Basically, how you compare to other drivers when driving in the city or the highway and your braking and acceleration style. - At the moment, there can only be one driver profile per device, which means the driving style summary doesn't differentiate between my wife and I. - I get instant notifications (under 10 seconds) every time I turn my car on or off. - I set up a geofence for my car using IFTTT. As soon as I crossed it, I got an notification. - I've only had it not work twice, but it was working again pretty quickly. I'd imagine it was due to some 3G connectivity issue. Overall, I would highly recommend this car adapter.

This is an excellent purchase for anyone that would like to integrate their vehicle with their smart home. Using IFTTT is a great value add that allows me the ability to control lights, my Nest thermostat, track mileage for work, understand fuel economy, and even track my vehicle location from anywhere. The setup was fairly simple, but took a bit of extra effort to setup. I have two newer vehicles, and neither of them setup properly on the first try. The app walks you through setup, where you type in the PIN that's located on the Automatic (make sure to write it down before setup). I had to unplug it several times, finally getting it to properly setup with my car on (after I heard the audible beep after plug in). The update process was a bit of a pin also, due to the fact that it has to reboot the device. This led to me getting a connection error during setup. I almost wish the update would happen after the full setup was complete vs during the middle of it. However, once I was past that the device immediately started tracking and syncing. There are a few pro's to this device: 1. Free 3G subscription for tracking for 5 years (from date of activation). This means you don't have to worry about paying a monthly or annual fee to take advantage of all the features. 2. This afforded me a discount on my car insurance for both vehicles that had it installed, since I was now capable of tracking them. Your results may vary, depending on your insurance provider. However, it's worth a look. Depending on the discount, the device might pay for itself. 3. The ease of tracking the vehicles location in near real time (depends on the data connection). It's neat seeing your car moving along on a map when using the Automatic App. Plus, you get notifications of where you parked, when your car is started (great anti theft notification), and any time the vehicle is has a check engine light. 4. IFTTT: I can't express this enough. I love the fact that you can create so many different integrations with IFTTT and Automatic Pro. I use it to track mileage on a Google Sheet for every trip, and to note any engine lights that may come on. Plus, I'm now using it to pre-cool my home prior to driving off from work. The only con's have to do with the setup flow not being perfect (your results may vary) and the app not having a logical way to add a fill up to track fuel use. Other than that, it's a a great add on to anyone's vehicle without expensive fee's or complicated installation for tracking. I loved this so much, I just bought another one as a gift for my family. In summary: Great features, ability to track vehicle with app (from anywhere), built in cellular, no monthly service fee's, ability to connect to Smart Home using integrations or "Car Apps", and somewhat easy installation. Plus, I recommend calling your insurance provider to see if you get a discount on your auto insurance since it offers vehicle tracking.

I bought my first Automatic adapter to use for work, to track my drive time, stops and time onsite, I quickly realized how useful it was and put one in my car, then my sons car. It tells you how many miles you've driven on any given day, how long you were driving, it provides detailed reports and insights into driving habits like if a family member likes to speed! More importantly for me it adds extra piece of mind, it includes a free crash notification service that will call three different numbers if something happens and it tells you exactly how to get to them with accurate maps. The 3G coverage isn't perfect, (where I live it's about 97% ) but when dealing with a rebellious teenager the adapter can be inconspicuously installed in the ODB port and configured to silence notifications to quietly monitor their activities without disrupting their driving experience - and it works with Amazon Echo and IFTTT. I love it.

I really didn't have a choice as many of the things tracked via their API like events and fuel levels would no longer work for the v1. To be clear they worked, but Automatic stopped supporting them through their API. This meant no fuel levels or info from Alexa or Google Home and no API support for my home automation software. Pluses - it's nice that it has its own cell radio so I'm not using the phone data and the software works well. Integration with Alexa/GHome works well and the locations are more precise. Negative - Features still haven't carried over that were available on the v1 and the newer 'Classic'; two of the most important were the audible warnings on hard breaking/acceleration and speed limit. These were useful and really helped me change my driving habits, resulting in much better fuel economy. Can't understand why an upgraded model would be missing features from the cheaper and original models. They say some of those things will come, but the Pro has been out for a long time now and they are still missing. If it's important to you, be aware of this. Overall though, I am pleased and would recommend.

Installation was easy. The app keeps track of the trips a vehicle makes and breaks out mileage, times, and locations. Each week, it analyzes how hard the driver is accelerating and braking. So far (touch wood), I haven't had to use the emergency alert. As long as there are no additional subscription fees or costs, this seems to be a bargain, at least in comparison to GM's OnStar. Five stars.

I am seriously impressed with this device so far. Easy to set up and it provides some amazing info on my car. I can hardly believe it tracks my car everywhere it goes, with maps, time, fuel mileage and more - all for free! I was able to get rid of OnStar as I really only liked the location feature for the most part, and the automatic provides even better, real-time information as well as vehicle history. I easily set up the crash alert feature, which is a nice bonus that I hope I never need to use! The info on their website says the live reporting features which use 3G is good for 5 years, so for about $20 per year vs more than that per month with OnStar, there’s no contest as to cost. It’s practically a steal by comparison. I highly recommend this product!

I bought two of these for our vehicles. 1 installed seamlessly and 1 apparently was defective and would not connect. Their customer support was pretty useless and I returned it to Best Buy. The other one works very well. I have not had it long enough for a full month of information to be generated by it yet.

exceeded my expectations. not only did it track the vehicle but it notified me of any errors or codes, and it also notifies me if the airbag deploys. love this product.

Bought this mainly for the diagnostic capability, but it is also helpful to have the GPS function on my son's car since he is a relatively new driver. Within 3 weeks of having it I received an alert on my phone that there was an issue with his vehicle. In typical teenager fashion, he did not inform me because the issue went away after he stopped and started the car. Turns out, the car was having transmission control module issues and the Auto Pro diagnosed the car correctly. The car was shifting very roughly when i took it on a test drive and the engine would stop for no reason while driving. Glad the Auto Pro told me to check the car out and that the engine didn't die on him on the interstate or some situation that could have been dangerous, And yes, it is very easy to setup. Download the app, enter the code printed on the device in the app and then let the system pair with your phone and the device automatically downloads the latest software to itself on its own cellular connection.

I am very VERY happy with Automatic Pro Car Adapter Gold. Just note... The live view does stall from time to time and can be frustrating. I believe this is a 3g technology limitation vs. a product defect (I don't really know). Though the tracking always seems to be accurate! It's a bigger price up front vs. a monthly fee(other brands charge monthly fee!) For myself, for the peace of mind... It is very worth it!

Easy to setup as long as you follow instructions. Not 100% accurate as it sometimes doesn't show when van is moving or how far away. Overall it works well.

good auto tracking device.it wont tell exact location coz it relies solely via cell tower transmitter.if device looses connection, it wont work. car must be received a cell signal in order to operate.overall not too bad for a tracker.

Bought this for business trip tracking. So far, it has been great. It is really easy to go into the app and mark trips as business trips. I also am very happy that there is no monthly or annual fee for this. Additionally, it has features for car diagnostics which should be nice as well, although I have yet to use them. I did have one situation where this failed to track one leg of a business trip. Not sure why, but I contacted support and they were very friendly and said they would look into what might have caused that. Out of many trips though, it wasn't a major deal. Overall, I have had a great experience. I also love the app and the fact that this has 3G!

This device is very simple to use. It has accurate GPS tracking and logs every trip. I absolutely recommend this product. You may also log your business miles and it will read codes from your cars computer and diagnose any problem that your vehicle may have. Great for personal or business use.

This item is great! I can see the exact location of my vehicle everytime my car is started. Also shows the car moving on the map while driving. It was great in diagnosing my check engine light problem too. I didn't tell my mechanic i had it. I let him diagnose it and tell me the codes. He was 100% honest with me and said the same thing the device said.

Great GPS car tracking with simple functions but super easy to configure and install. App is extremely friendly and website has much more comprehensive information about vehicle tracking. Functions includes location, daily/weekly/monthly reports (avg speed, mileage, etc), vehicle diagnostics (codes). I have now 4 of these devices all in different vehicles. Location is accurate but Map is not so good, with limited descriptions and details.

This product works great and was easy to install. Using this to track an aging parent in another City. It was necessary after a few minor fender benders that were unexplained and for overall safety. Install was quick and in this automobile completely out of the way/sight. The app sends alert (configured) when the vehicle moves and is parked, it even sends an alert to my Android Smartwatch. This is a great value with onboard 3G for 5 Years. I will get one for my teenager next year when they start driving! Very happy with the purchase.

I like this product, I have it in a 2019 truck and it works great. Problem is I bout it for a 2001 truck and had it work the first couple times and then it made the dash wig out. I have to unplug it and then reinsert over and over so I tried it in my other truck and it works great. Also I have used it to diagnose engine codes and rest to see if the code returns. It worked great. Disappointed it did not work on my 01 truck but very pleased in the end.

I needed a more automated way to log vehicle milage for my business travel. Also integrates with my nest thermostat. IFTTT automation as well. Logs miles to Google Sheets. Adjusts temp before I get home.

Two months in and I can comfortably say that I am very happy with my Automatic Pro Car Adapter. It was purchased so that I could keep track of business trips/mileage for tax purposes and so far it has been working out very well. The unlimited 3G real time connection with no fees is also a HUGE plus and is one of the main reasons I purchased this particular unit. Being able to track my vehicle in real time via the downloadable app on my cellphone comes in handy and also gives me a little more peace of mind. The easy-to-use app is straight forward and also includes various car diagnostics and a 24/7 crash alert. Installation is as simple plugging the adapter into your vehicles OBDII port then syncing it with the app on your phone. Being able to customize or personalize the phone app is the only recommendation that I can think of but I am still very happy with how this unit has been performing. I plan on purchasing another unit for a second car and would feel very comfortable recommending this product to anyone.
