We replaced a flip phone we had trouble with with the Jitterbug Flip2 Cell phone. It is easy to program contacts, easy to maneuver with the arrows. Because we wanted to remain with our current service provider, all we had td do was replace the Jitterbug's sim card with the sim card from our own phone and it was done. The only thing is that the contacts from one flip phone do not transfer to the new Jitterbug so those do need to be entered manually. So far the phone has been easy to operate and I do rate it 5 star for it's ease of use, large letter font is easy to read, and the phone is compact and easy to carry. We have not used the camera and have not had it long enough to rate the battery. One other thing we appreciate is that it has a cradle you place the phone in for recharge -- no fumbling with the cord connection.

I got this phone for my 85 y/o widowed sister who has dementia and it's much easier for her to use than the jitterbug smart phone she previously had. You just open the phone to answer a call, and close it to hang up. It has speed dial so I programmed the people she calls most so she only has to press one button to dial their numbers. I have a speed dial list taped on the back. Voice mails are easy to retrieve, texts are a little trickier but she doesn't text anyway. You can lock the side keys so the volume buttons don't accidentally get pushed, and it also comes with a charging cradle that sits on a table, you just place the phone into it ...easy peasy, no fumbling with trying to plug a usb-c cord into the phone (although you can also charge it that way). The keypad buttons are fairly large which makes them easier for her to see. I looked at a couple other flip phones but this one is the best for elderly people with memory problems. The charging cradle alone makes it worth it!!

Got this phone for my 93 year old mother. She is incapable of using a smart phone so a simple flip phone is ideal for her. It's so easy to operate. Just open the flip to answer calls and close it to hang up. It also puts the phone number right on the display so it's easy for her to give her number out without having to memorize it.

Bought this for my parents who are in their 90s. Great for normal phone use, and they don't do anything like texting or other things that work better on a smart phone. My mom has macular degeneration but is able to make out the buttons just fine. The speaker function is very clear.

I'm going to be a little more critical than most here, due to my moms age. The idea of a large button flip phone really appealed to me because mom just wouldn't be able to handle a smart phone regardless of how easy it was to use. Let me add that my mother has also never sat in front of a PC, so a TV remote is just about as high-tech she gets. The goal was simple, give my 91 year old mom the ability to easily receive calls and make them without getting herself into trouble. While it's easy to answer the Jitterbug by simply flipping open the cover, dialing out is another matter. The phone does have a list of menu options when the lid is opened, and the list was strike one. Initially, there is a list of about six menu items (Photos, Help Tools, Device Info, Games, Setup) that are accessed by the up/down key, all of which are not necessary and add an incredible level of complexity for somebody looking for simplicity. The good news is that through the settings, the menu options can all be hidden, with the exception of Contacts and Phone. So far so good, I mean, how much trouble can mom get with two menu items? Read on. I was successful in setting up speed dialing for her most common numbers, which are setup in Contacts, and she can handle the pressing of the appropriate number button to make her calls. The problem comes when she wants to manually dial to call a number that isn't stored. In order to dial out manually, the menu item must be highlighted on the "Phone" option and any attempt to manually dial when "Contacts" is highlighted results in an error. Many times my mom fumbles with the buttons and inadvertently changes the option to "Contracts", thus locking her out of manually dialing. She's too confused to realize this and won't press the up/down arrow to highlight "Phone". This is a major flaw in the design. The phone should allow you to dial out regardless of which menu option is highlighted. To make matters worse, if the lid is closed and opened again, the previously highlighted menu option is still active. It would be nice if opening it again would reset it to "Phone". Another issue which I was able to combat was the volume buttons. Like all phones, if you press the volume button when it is ringing, it will silence the ringer. On the Jitterbug it silences the ringer permanently, forcing you to go back into the settings to change the ringer option. And guess what, when my moms phone rings, she fumbles around her purse for it and inadvertently presses the volume button - every time. Thankfully, there is a setting to disable the volume button, and that has worked like a charm. For those of you who are purchasing the Jitterbug for an elderly parent who isn't tech savvy, just be forewarned that even though it appears to be simple, to the elderly it can still be quite complicated.

After months of frustration trying to get my elderly father to use a smartphone, we finally gave up. The constant accidental calls, the confusing apps, the tiny icons... it was a nightmare for him and for us. We decided to go back to basics with the Jitterbug Flip2, and honestly, it's been a huge relief. The Good Stuff: The design is perfect for a senior. The buttons are huge and backlit, so he can easily see the numbers, even at night. The screen is bright and the text is massive – no more squinting. The menu is the simplest thing I've ever seen. You literally just use the arrow keys to scroll up or down a single list (Phone Book, Text Messages, etc.) and press "YES" or "NO". There's no way to get lost in confusing sub-menus. The best features for us are the speaker and the big red button. The earpiece and ringer are LOUD. He can actually hear it ring from another room and has no trouble hearing conversations. But the real selling point is the Urgent Response button on the outside. Knowing that he can press one button and be connected to a real person in an emergency gives our whole family incredible peace of mind. The "thunk" of flipping it shut to end a call is also oddly satisfying and much more definite than tapping a screen. The Not-So-Good Stuff: Let's be honest, this is not a phone for photos. The camera is very, very basic. The pictures are grainy, so don't expect to be printing any memories from it. It's there if you need it, but that's about it. Also, you have to use Lively's mobile service, you can't just pop in a SIM card from another carrier. Their plans are reasonably priced for what they are, but it's something you need to be aware of. Bottom Line: This phone isn't for everyone. It's not for texting long messages, browsing the internet, or taking pictures. But if you are looking for a simple, reliable, and safe communication device for a parent or grandparent who is overwhelmed by modern technology, this is probably the best thing on the market. It does its one job—being an easy-to-use phone—and it does it perfectly.

My Mom has been a flip phone user her entire life and was devastated when the 3G deactivation occurred. Since then, her physical and cognitive health has declined. I've tried every brand of basic flip phone and both smartphone operating systems. I thought for sure that the lively flip phone would work for her. The phone's main menu is customizable and looks pretty simple. The keys are large and backlit. Screen size is excellent and resolution is ok. My mom's primary issue with the phone is that she tries touching the screen instead of using the keys. I already know what you're thinking... I should get her a smartphone. I agree. This is the only issue I have with Lively. They market their products specifically for seniors and the "not-so-tech-savy," but, they aren't willing to do any type of swap or trade-in for their smartphone version. So, I do recommend the phones they currently sell. Make sure to not only pick the best model for you or your loved one's preference, but be sure of the return policies. Lively isn't very philanthropic when it comes to providing the best for its customers' needs.

We got this phone for an 86-year-old friend whose old flip phone broke at the hinge. We were told prior to our purchase through CHAT online by a BestBuy tech rep that it would be a simple process to unlock the phone at our local Verizon store and then activate the phone under her existing cell phone number and account. That so-called "simple" process took well over 90 minutes--the senior Verizon rep on site had no idea how to unlock the phone without calling the customer service # for GreatCall at the end of the manual directions. It required an activation first using the GreatCall service, then cancel that service, then convert/activate the phone over to Verizon coverage, again, at least 90+ minutes at the Verizon store. As for the phone itself, it is very well made. The default screen is arranged exactly as needed, and the buttons are large and easily accessible. We enlarged the letters on the display screen to maximum and helped our friend with in-person instruction on its use. She is very pleased with the volume (which we locked) and that the size is similar to her old phone. We would recommend this phone for senior use, but be prepared for a lengthy activation process if you do not subscribe to the pre-installed GreatCall service.

OK so let me say I’m a techie and have alwayshad high end phones. I was however, looking for a good flip phone just to use as a spare. The problem is that far to many of them are cheap as if people who want them couldn’t possibly want something decent. I couldn’t bring myself to buy the cheap crap offered (not counting the Samsung Flip). The Jitterbug 2 is well made and sturdy and I was also nicely surprised at how well Alexa works. If you have a senior who is not really technically literate, you will probably needs to set it up for them but after that it should be fine. By the way, technically I’m a senior but a working IT Professional so I think my opinion is a good one. The battery doesn’t last as long as I would expect for this phone but I can live with it. I love the phone.

There is a lot to like about this phone, but not enough for a higher rating. There was no way to transfer the contacts (phone numbers) from the prior flip phone to this one on making the change. This is a big deal. I had to enter them all by hand. One good thing is that the contacts could be entered using my account on the computer, so it was easier than using the flip phone itself. I like the way it charges, sitting in the base. This for a 97 year-old who has struggled with past phones to get a mini or micro USB port in the phone correctly. This is a very good thing. The phone is easy to use so far, but it is different and takes some getting used to. The plans are great. Allowing the unused minutes to roll over oneonth, and to have them used first in that following month is very good, and a significant reason this phone and plan were chosen.

The Jitterbug flip phone is a good choice for a senior who needs adaptability features. It has the ability to change the font size and to speak functions aloud for ease of use. It also has Alexa, which is easy to set up, and you can choose to make it active and responsive to voice commands, or just leave it as an option to choose when needed. The flip phone has big buttons, including a big red button to call emergency services. It also has a tracker so that caregivers can located it by an app on their own phone. The only caveat I have is that the Lively salespeople who help you set this up are highly motivated to hard sell you into the most expensive plan they can get you on. It's also very difficult to change the plan without talking to them, and of course they are going to be motivated to not change it and even add things if they can talk you into it. Bottom line: love this Jitterbug, not a huge fan of Lively.

This is a good phone and I would use it if I didn't have so much going on that my phone helps me organize. I bought the phone for my brother who is hard of hearing. I turned the phone up all the way and put it on vibrate and he still had issues. That part hasn't changed, but I had to get him a captions phone so he could read anything he didn't hear well enough. Really sad the phone didn't work out.

Simple phones have come a long way. My 99-year old grandmother needed a phone while away from home, and this does the trick. Nothing too complicated - speed dial helps her call me or my mom easily, and it's compact and comes with a charging port that allows the phone to stand up on her nightstand. Glad I found this!

I purchase this Jitterbug as a gift for an elderly neighbor. My neighbor loves the phone. I set it up for her and she is well pleased. I highly recommend this Jitterbug for people who can't maneuver all the bells and whistles of an iPhone. For basic calling and receiving calls and messages, it fits the bill. Also, Customer service is very helpful if and when there is a problem.

This phone is absolutely perfect for seniors. I bought this flip-phone for my sister in-law who has onset dementia. She had an iphone and it just became too much for her. I had seen a few ads for Lively and the Jitterbug and thought this would be exactly what we needed. My sister in-law loves this phone because it just goes back to the basics. Generally it is a good phone for basic needs for older people. Few problems after we bought it: it was impossible to activate it vis online, therefore we had do call to the company to activate the service and small amount of ring tones to choose ( all of them are not loud enough). Otherwise, it works fine for now ( 2 weeks after purchase)
