I'm really not a wine snob, but I do enjoy the varieties of great wine the Northwest provides. I obtained the Ullo Wine purifier at my wife's bidding (former flight attentant) and also to satisfy my curiosity on this trend on wine purifiers. Ullo's packaging was very impressive, as they not only appeal to our taste buds but to our insatiable eyes. The aesthetics of their marketing describes it in one word, sheikh. The product is simple to use, practical and delivers in performance. The fragrance of both your red and white wines are noticeable immediately, almost as if a balance of the alcohol and fruit reach a compromise. A wine snob will be particularly impressed with their delivery of sweeter taste to the palate. Be sure to order extra filters for those summer and fall parties, your friends and family are going to be impress with your expensive suggestion of this year's wine list. Cheers!

Not sure it’s worth the cost. Have to open and use a bottle so you dont waste the filters that cost extra.

I drink wine one in a while, usually only in a social situation with other people or when cooking. When I received the Üllo (pronounced, "ooo-low"), I was excited to see if I could tell the difference in a bottle wine that had been aerated and the sulfates had been removed. I took a bottle of pinot grigio that I had received as a holiday gift and I eagerly opened up the box. In it there was the wine purifier, a holder, a bag with four filters and a Quick Start Guide. I followed the directions fairly easily, but I wasn't sure if it was snapped together firmly. I think I figured out the aeration alignment. It didn't take long to pour the entire bottle of wine through the Üllo. I read several of the tips on the last page of the guide:
1. it works best with red and white wines. Carbonated beverages, such as champagne, can lose their carbonation, so it is not recommended for them.
2. Each filter can be used for 750 ml of wine. You need to replace with multiple bottles and after 3 hours of use. It is advised to pass the wine through the same filter a second time, and it typically takes longer the second time.
3. Rinse the Üllo before the first time you use it and after every use.
I confess that I am not an oenophile, a wine aficionado. I did not notice a major difference in the wine after the sulfates had been filtered out. Perhaps this is really meant for someone who knows more about wine than I do. Though you can filter the wine directly into a wine glass, there is an Üllo carafe and decanter you can purchase that is a perfect fit for the Üllo. A pack of 6 filters costs $17 and a pack of 15 filters costs $34 (plus shipping). That is a little rich for my blood since I don't taste a difference. You can still use this for aeration without using the filters, so that is what I will do once I use up my last filter.
