I did a ton of research before purchasing this camera and I couldn't be more pleased! I got it when Best Buy was having a 50 dollar off sale and even got a 50 gift card at checkout... So I saved 100 off any other store!

This security system is absolutely AMAZING!! I bought this to use as a baby monitor since the other ones on the market are garbage. I choose this one over the indoor system because this one has the night vision capability. Set up was a breeze. The time it took me to open the box, set it up and view it on my iphone was roughly about 15 minutes. Super Easy!! The picture quality of this HS system is extremely clear. The free app from the app store made this product even better. Although it would be nice to have the pan, zoom and tllt function available through the app, the computer will suffice. Most systems require you to pay a subscription fee to view remotely. THIS ONE DOESN'T!! It wcan be viewed from my iphone on both wifi and 3g. Also, because it runs on a powerline adapter (included) you don't have to worry about wireless interferrence or someone hacking into your system. Absolutely thrilled with this product and will definitely be purchasing the add on cameras (up to 6 total allowed). If you have security issues, need a reliable baby monitor or suspect a baby sitter then get this system. You won't be disappointed.

Was very easy to set up. Video quality is good. Night vision works well. If you only need one camera, this is a great system. Adding additional cameras can get expensive. Nice to be able to view on your current computer equipment. The long range the video captures is excellent. Was a Christmas gift for my husband...we are still "playing" with it and learning how to use its features. So far, very happy will purchase. Will probably add a second camera to this system in the near future even though they are about half the cost of the master system.

I bought this camera for security of my vehicle on the street in front of my home. The problem is at night the images are always blurry whether it is a person walking by or a car. If someone breaks into my car it would be useless to make out anything others than ghosted images. Daytime clarity was superb as was the included software. Price seemed very high also for what I received.

Pretty neat camera for using powerline adapters. Use my computer, I-pad and Web to view video, though you can only playback video on computer for free. night vision is sufficient and sound is clear. Just think for the price logitech would have a better QA for making sure the cameras work. If you purchase on plug camera in first and make sure diagnostic light comes on, no light, camera is bad (logitech tech told me this)

I love these cameras. Extremely easy to set up, excellent range from all around the outside of my house, I love it. Sensitive..almost too sensitive. But it can be adjusted. At first even a moth, at night, set it off. Great product. Highly recommend it to everyone of all skill levels. It's easy !!

Overall, much better than systems that utilize a DVR. At least for home use. Communication via home power outlets lends much more versatility. Much easier to review footage than DVR and you don't have to reformat a hard drive as in a DVR to reuse. Removable micro-sd card really good. Comes with a 2 GB card, but can step up storage.

Needed a good security camera for the drive way. Did not want to spend time drilling holes and running cable. This camera made installation too easy. Ran only one cable to the nearest power outlet. Great picture quality. Works on both my IPAD and Android phone.

had problems with people messing with my work truck and personal truck. Put this camera up since it has night vision and colored. I can see all details of the people and what they are doing, plus when catching the people messing with the vehicles, police are called and are able to see what they have done without questioning anything. I like that is has a small microphone and you can hear what people are saying without them
knowing.

NOTE: I’m a techy kind of guy, I’m a programmer and have a LOT of computer/network software/hardware experience. I have DVR, camera, and surveillance experience.
PROS:
Setup was extremely easy. Worked fine on my router, no need to open the firewall. Works 95% of the time. Very clear image. Free interface on IPHONE and IPAD. Free basic network viewer. The pixel movement trigger works great, I get emails from birds flying around! Very sensitive.
CONS: The advertisement for PAN and ZOOM is misleading, it’s ONLY a digital PAN and ZOOM. There is NO movement on the camera itself. Wireless is misleading as well. You have to have power, and there is a CAT5 cable that runs from the camera to the network/power adapter. The pictures are very misleading, they show the camera by itself with no wires out the back, especially the one of it sitting on the fence. I do occasionally have connection issues getting to it. The PC software takes forever to download the video from the camera while logged in. So if you let this thing run for a week without using the PC software, it will take a WHILE to download the video. I still don’t understand this part of the software, if I click on a particular day it seems to try to download that day, otherwise I don’t know what order it tries to download. The night vision is ok, but it works much better with the lights on. I’ve heard you can disable the red light, but I cannot find instructions on how to do so.
All in all its not a bad setup, especially for a beginner looking to watch their home. For the price, I would expect a little more, a full DVR with camera system with 6-8 wired cameras can be bought for 3-400 dollars more. I just wanted to keep an eye on one thing, so this worked out for me. The true test, will be to see how long this thing lasts. If it makes it 3-4 years, then I would give this an excellent.

Hooked this up without much difficulty. Camera worked for about ten minutes before it went off line and I couldn't get it back on line. Called customer support, which was pretty good. However, they couldn't get the camera back on line either and recommended I return camera. Returned camera, but Best Buy isn't carrying this item any longer, not even on their web site. Don't know why. I returned it for a refund and will be looking for another system.

Why it might not be that great.

Bought the system for security purposes, and first impression was great until i started delving further into surveillance. The short falls are the following: Needs a computer,Needs an internet connection, media is recorded to micro SD card when computer is turned off (media card is in the camera itself, not to smart someone can just steal the camera, and no more evidence), motion detection is very sensitive even with the adjustable sensor, cannot be connected to backup battery in case of power failure(big deal breaker for me),average price per additional camera about 300.00. The good: super night vision, super wide angle, great software, great iphone app, great remote computer viewing, excellent daylight vision.
Overall though i had to settle on a DVR surveillance.

I looked at many different brands of network cameras and am very happy I got the Logitech Alert system. One of my primary criteria was ease of setup and I don't see how it can be any easier than this system - install the Commander software, plug the network adapter into the router and electrical outet, plug the camera into an electrical outlet and you're done. Video quality is excellent for these types of network cameras - but don't expect HD quality like what you see on your TV. I also wanted a system where a PC doesn't have to be on all the time and this fits the bill as well.
I did want a camera that I can mechanically pan and tilt remotely which the Logitech camera cannot (only digital pan, tilt and zoom) but the wideangle view of the camera does cover a lot of territory. The infrared emitters provide a decent night view (black and white).

I researched many systems based upon, options, ease to install and set up, use and access remotely and price. This system meet those needs (can be viewed from cell phone and remotely, not overly expensive and good picture and recording options.) I have an iMac and thus was at first skeptical on the purchase as it needs to be initially set up with a PC. However, after initial set up all options and viewing can be done through an iMac. So i set up my old PC, set up the Logitech system and use with iMac, iPad and iPhone without problems. I do occasionally turn on the PC to download video from camera SD card to computer for longer keeping (30 days as supposed to one week on SD card in camera). In sum, works as described and is beginner level for set up and use.
