Logitech’s Flip Folio is a keyboard case for the iPad that offers magnetic attachment, flippable orientation, flexible compatibility, and a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. Does the flip folio live up to Logitech’s Apple accessory standards or is it flipping out? Upon receipt, you’ll find the unit well wrapped and packaged. Logitech’s packaging is a lot more environmentally friendly than it was a decade ago. The box points out a few use cases, and features the primary use case of this combo on the front of the box: iPad case as a stand and keyboard flexibly detached. Upon opening you’ll find instructions on which way to bend the case on a sticker on the inside of the case, as well as a pull tab for the keyboard. Yes, the keyboard has a battery saving plastic pullout tab preventing the 4 button cell batteries from prematurely discharging in transit. 4xCR2016 batteries in a tray power this extremely thin keyboard. They’re accessible by taking two paper clips and pushing from tray to outer edge to unlock the tray. Then it slides out. I’m mentioning that, as it’s not overly obvious, and instructions with this guy are sparse. It is mentioned in the FAQ section of Logitech’s website if you need illustrations. The good news is these should last about 2 years of usage according to Logitech’s estimation (based on 2h a day of usage). I do really like a product that allows for easy battery replacement, preventing this keyboard from becoming e-waste. Speaking of the keyboard; it’s small, thin, and offers excellent key feel for such a thin scissor switch keyboard. The keyboard itself doesn’t flex much during typing, and feels quite accurate despite being just a bit more key travel than the butterfly keyboards of old. I found I could easily hit about 65-70 wpm in my typing which was not the best, but certainly not very impeded from my 75-80. The keyboard layout is quite nice. Despite being the width of a 13” iPad Pro, I didn’t find any trouble with any of the keys. The layout definitely was well researched, and even harder to find keys were just where my touch typing brain told me they’d be. Up top of the layout are thin function keys. I found these easy enough to find as well. The first button is basically where the escape key would be, and it is the ‘home’ button. The next 3 are devices (of which this keyboard can be paired with 3 devices via Bluetooth) which can be selected and paired using these. You then get brightness, search, expose, emoji, screenshot, play/pause, mute, and volume control respectively. These are all helpful and very functional. Smartly, the keyboard connects to the case with the keys protected. It also auto shutoffs the keyboard, which is a nice touch. I don’t need my Word document replaced with a bunch of random letters when my iPad is snug in my bag. The keyboard features a rubbery Logitech green pull tab to easily detach the keyboard from the case and… flip it over. Overall the keyboard is well executed. The case itself is magnetically attached and has a very first party feel to it. This isn’t an Apple case, but it’s as close as you can get (which Logitech does work closely with Apple, and this is seen in their other POGO pin cases). It locks/unlocks the iPad correctly, and holds firmly to the iPad especially when closed. The front side flips over (flip folio - get it?) and has about 120 degrees of adjustment. This means your iPad can be at a fairly comfortable angle, to nearly flat and the flip adjust stand holds the weight of the iPad no problem. It has a shelf at the bottom, so you can detach the iPad from the magnets and orient it in portrait mode if so desired. This shelf is found on the inner spine of the case. The case’s material has a bit of a rubbery feel, but it’s not exactly like what Apple uses. This feels more durable, and while it does pick up grease, it wipes clean without any discoloration. The case feels sturdy and that it would offer some protection to the iPad in a fall. It doesn’t have edge protection though, so the iPad can and will fall out of the case on an impact. This might throw some people off, who have had some of Logitech’s other keyboard cases that encircle the iPad completely. The sturdy feel comes at a price: weight. Keep in mind an iPad Pro weighs 579g, this case, without the keyboard is 637g, and with the keyboard 847g. This means the case adds 146% of weight to the iPad and you don’t have a trackpad or other mousing device. Compare this with the Magic Keyboard from Apple, which weighs 674g. Overall for the MSRP, this case offers a fantastic keyboard with a smart design, solid construction, and multiple usage modes. The flexibility of the keyboard to be used with multiple devices is a nice touch, but one that’s a bit off mission. I love that it automatically powers off when connected (and you don’t have to manually switch it off with the power switch), and I love the flexilbity the keyboard can bring to working with/arranging the iPad. The downsides are many though. The biggest is weight, really making the iPad a hefty package and more than many thin and light laptops. The next is realistic protection, which this case offers a fair amount, but not like other Logitech cases. Finally, the detachable nature of the keyboard is a nice thought, but it doesn’t offer much over what people would get with an attached keyboard. I feel like the combo of a $50 keyboard, and $20 case does not justify the MSRP, and makes for a clunky experience. Adding a trackpad here would make this even more impractical, but with the latest iPad beta offering more and more mouse support this device isn’t well timed. I wanted to like the Flip Folio, but despite being well made, it’s not well thought out.

I have the iPad Pro 13” M4, and I am always on the look out for a different case. I currently have the Magic Keyboard, which was really expensive, and I’m not a huge fan. I was excited to try out the FlipFolio, hoping that maybe it would be more customizable and adjustable than the Apple products. The results of my use are pretty mixed. First of all, the folio case itself is made of good material. It’s an attractive dark gray color that won’t get dirty easy and will clean off even easier. It will most likely handle a drop pretty well too. But, when you set the iPad inside of it, you don’t get that reassuring tug and snap that occurs when you place the iPad into the Magic Keyboard case. Instead, the iPad just kind of sits in the FlipFolio. It doesn’t snap in or feel like it is going to stay in place if you had to move it around a bit. And sure enough, all I had to do was turn the Flip Folio (while it was open) over, with the iPad facing down, and the iPad fell out immediately. I thought maybe I had done something wrong, or placed the iPad inside the FlipFolio incorrectly, but nope, it’s just the way it is designed. It does not lock in like it does with other cases I’ve tried, and to be honest, for how much money I paid for the iPad, I want a case that secures that iPad solidly. Now, with the cover of the Flip Folio closed, the IPad stays in place without a problem. It feels like the cover closes more securely than the iPad fits in the Flip Folio. For me, this is a showstopper. I cannot have an iPad that falls out of a case. All it would take is one accidental movement and the 1600 dollar tablet is hitting the floor. I took a video of this occurring, I hope it will upload to the site. I don’t much care for the folding hinge either, that turns into a stand. After just a couple of uses, the material around the hinge was bulging out, and the hinge was really difficult to move into a good spot. Makes me concerned for the longevity of the case. You can see in one of the pictures, the area I am talking about with the hinge. The keyboard is nice. I typed this review with it and made hardly any mistakes at all. Letters are well-spaced, the travel is nice, and the battery life goes on and on. One thing missing- backlit keys. And, you are not going to type with this on your lap. There’s no way, because the keyboard is a separate device and not attached to the case. I do like the way the keyboard docks. Just flip it over and it magnetically attaches to the case for easy carrying. If you are looking to place the FlipFolio on your lap and type, I think you have to look elsewhere. If you want the peace of mind that comes with having a secure case for your iPad, I think you have to look elsewhere.

A novel case and keyboard combo for iPad

The Logitech Flip Folio is an entirely new iPad case & keyboard design. For the first time, the keyboard is not part of the case, instead it attaches magnetically to the case and can be stowed away when not in use. This offers the benefits of saving space when using the iPad in a tight space such as when on an airline, where you may just want to watch a movie and not need a keyboard. Although the case supports both landscape and portrait orientations, I found the portrait orientation did not have a tight fit since the magnets don’t align perfectly like they do in the landscape orientation. The Flip Folio keyboard connects to up to three Bluetooth devices which is very convenient and can give keyboard functionality to your iPhone also. However, the keyboard lacks backlighting and a number pad—meaning it’s best for users prioritizing portability over a true laptop-style setup. The one minor complaint I had was the part of the case that folds to create the stand is very stiff and requires a little bit of effort to fold. Also, it remains to be seen over long-term use how well the magnetic connection holds up that connects the keyboard to the case. The Flip Folio is a solid choice for people on the move who prioritize portability over functionality. While it won’t replace Logitech’s Combo Touch keyboard with trackpad, it’s an excellent solution for those who value minimalism and multi-device workflows.

I've been a heavy iPad users for years now and although the iPad is fun to use on its own, it feels way more useful when it has a keyboard with it. The new Logitech Flip Folio Keyboard is an excellent choice and makes your iPad feel more useful in so many ways! PROS: - Unboxing this, it's a really nice material with a nice weight to it! As in it feels very light weight but also durable and not cheap in any way. Very nice initial impressions! - Setup is super easy, just snap your iPad into the case and connect to the keyboard via Bluetooth - An excellent part of this case is the versatility. You can use the iPad in landscape mode, tilt it up to portrait mode, and while it's on the stand you can change the tilt of the case as well. - The keyboard itself can magnetically attach to the back of the case or it can pop off and you can use it however you want! Typing on it has been great (using it right now!) as its a nice mix of low profile but has some good feedback when you type on it. The keyboard can also connect to 3 different bluetooth devices too which is nice if you want to mix it up. - Lastly, it works with your Apple Pencil as well! CONS: - The keyboard is missing a few things I would have liked, mainly being a lock key and a trackpad. I understand it's a design choice but they are nice to have. BOTTOM LINE: - The Logitech Flip Folio is a fantastic keyboard for people that want versatility for you on the go. It works as a standalone case, full blown laptop style, you can draw on it, use it at different angles, and the battery lasts a long time. This is an excellent companion to your iPad Pro 13 inch and it's going to be a daily driver for many!

Case functions well. Pretty nifty to have the magnetic, detachable keyboard on hand. Main reason I purchased was a way to use iPad pro 13, in portrait. The stand angles are pretty good though I'd like the hinge to bend a bit further. Also the magnet that hold the iPad isn't nearly as strong as the one in a magic keyboard, but for the price, this is quite sufficient.

The Flip Folio is very useful with its detachable keyboard and ability to support varied positioning of the iPad. It is somewhat bulky, however. I also find that when the iPad is laying flat, getting the Apple Pen to find the iPad's magnet is tricky.

Really great quality and feel of the keyboard. I like that the actual keys aren’t physically part of the case and that it does give the feel of a laptop when you’re using it all together. The sound of the keys are satisfying. The actual case is sturdy and it clicks in on all sides so it definitely feels secure and it does have the standard screen flaps so you can open and close the iPad easily.

In concept this case appears to be an improvement on the Magic Keyboard. In reality there are some annoying drawbacks. The keyboard constantly slides off its magnetic holder. The flip stand does not keep its shape and constantly needs to be adjusted. After using the Folio for 2 weeks I cannot recommend this keyboard. Hopefully Logitech will correct these issues with their next version.

    When Freedom Meets Function

After two decades of wrangling tech in server rooms and setting up countless workstations, I've learned that the best tools aren't always the flashiest, they're the ones that adapt to how you actually work. The Logitech Flip Folio caught my attention because it challenges the conventional wisdom about iPad keyboards. Instead of locking you into a laptop-like setup, it asks: what if your keyboard could go where you need it? Setting up the Flip Folio reminded me why I appreciate thoughtful design. The case itself feels solid, that soft-touch exterior might show fingerprints (especially on this graphite model), but it provides excellent grip. What struck me immediately was the heft. At 818g total for the 13-inch version, it's actually heavier than Apple's Magic Keyboard. That weight primarily comes from the robust kickstand mechanism and generous magnets that make this case stable. The magnetic attachment for the keyboard is satisfying, and when you snap it onto the back for storage, everything feels secure. The full-sized Bluetooth keyboard can detach completely and sit wherever you want it. Need to elevate your iPad to eye level to reduce neck strain? Go ahead. Want to type while your iPad sits across the table? No problem. The keys themselves offer decent travel and spacing, though they lack backlighting (a puzzling omission at this price point). Battery life is exceptional. Logitech promises two years on four CR2016 coin cells, and the keyboard automatically powers down when attached to the case. The multi-device pairing is genuinely useful; I found myself switching between my iPad and iPhone seamlessly using the dedicated switching keys. In daily use, the Flip Folio reveals both its strengths and limitations. The adjustable kickstand works brilliantly in both landscape and portrait modes, something I genuinely appreciate when reviewing documents or coding. The case provides solid protection front and back, though the edges remain somewhat exposed. Here's what's missing: a trackpad. After years of using iPad keyboards with integrated trackpads, reaching up to touch the screen feels like stepping backwards. It's not a dealbreaker, but it does change how you interact with iPadOS. Some users have reported fit issues around the camera bump, though my unit aligned properly. So who's this for? If you're someone who uses a keyboard occasionally, maybe a few times a week for longer emails or document editing, the Flip Folio makes sense. It undercuts the Magic Keyboard by nearly half while offering unique flexibility. Students who need to type in cramped lecture halls, remote workers bouncing between coffee shops, or anyone who values adaptability over integration will find value here. However, if you're typing all day or rely heavily on trackpad gestures, you'll want to look elsewhere. Bottom line: The Flip Folio isn't trying to turn your iPad into a MacBook, it's embracing what makes a tablet special while adding keyboard functionality when you need it. Is it perfect? No. The lack of backlighting and trackpad will frustrate some users, and the weight negates some portability advantages. But for those who want typing flexibility without being locked into a laptop paradigm, it's a clever solution. Sometimes in tech, different is exactly what we need. Just be honest about your workflow before clicking buy, this keyboard demands you adapt to its philosophy, not the other way around.

Let me begin by saying that I have been a loyal and very satisfied Logitech customer for years and love all their products. However, I am giving this review honestly and while there are things I like, there are some I do not like. What I like - 1. Price - it is very competitive with the marketplace and a great value for what it is. 2. Flexible - I like the detachable keyboard which attaches to the back magnetically when stored (but this is also one of my dislikes). 3. Abilty to stand up the I Pad for better usability. 4. Material - it does not mar up like the Apple Magic keyboard. 5. Protection appears to be right up there. What I dislike - 1. The magnetic attachment of the keyboard for storage. Although it is convenient, I have knocked it off a couple of times and was not treating it rough. 2. The keyboard is not backlit which I suppose helps the battery life, but I have gotten used to backlight on my computers and on my Apple Magic keyboard. This certainly is subjective and may not matter one whit to many users. 3. The compactness of the keyboard takes a bit of adjustment, and the lack of a trackpad I suppose is because of the form factor, but some sort of old-style trackball makes sense and does not take up a lot of real estate. All designs are a compromise, and this is clearly one that Logitech made in favor of compact. 4. I expected the weight to be much less than the Apple Magic keyboard, but since I did not weigh it with a scale, it feels about the same weight to me. Also, the thickness is about the same as Apple. Overall, I like it, especially the value of the price for what it is, but it has some compomises that some may feel limiting, and others find acceptable. Compared to the Apple Magic keyboard, it is not in the same class, but it does not compete at Apple's price either. While I prefer Apple's version over this one, consider if it is worth the extra money. This one does most of the same things for a LOT less money and it appears to be as well built as all the other Logitech products I own. My track record with Logitech products is very good, and I expect this one to be the same. Quality matters, but so does price and value. This one hits on all the important criteria you look at in deciding what to buy. I recommend it.
