Great remote, but a little finicky

Bought this to replace the 1/2 dozen remotes in my entertainment center...it does that job wonderfully. However the review would have gotten 4 stars had the Activities function(s) worked more then 75% of the time. The online software found all my models no problem and setting up activities in the software was easy; but when using an activity I still find myself having to select an individual device on the remote to turn on/off, change input, or volume many times defeating the purpose of the one touch activity. Beyond that a good product that condensed my remote collection.

Easy to set up and use most used controls. It can change the volume from the location where even the remote for the receiver doesn't work. The biggest challenge is battery life, leaving it away from the charger for a week drains all the battery. Sometimes it skips to turn on my projector.

Very easy to set up, had no issues what so ever getting the remote to work with my TV and components. Had no issues finding my DirecTV DVR in Logitech/Harmony's vast list of components. Very pleased with only one remote and the ease of use.

After I purchased the first remote and realized how well it worked and the convenience of controlling all my devices with one remote, I began buying them for all my televisions. This is my fourth! Great remote easy to setup highly recommend.

I have 4 of these, and no matter what components of changes I make to any of my systems, this remote will move and change along with them. I just bought another like this for my dedicated theater, you can spend more, but this fits the bill.

    Good idea, but clumsy design.

I am a first time buyer of this remote, or any type of advanced universal remote control. I was originally interested in the Logitech Harmony One, but I decided to buy the Touch because of the sale price and money back gift card that came with it. I will start off saying I am not comparing between previous Logitech universal remotes because I have never used them. I am only reviewing the Touch. Ergonomics: The overall appearance is nice; however, the ergonomics is rather clumsy. Due to the groovy mold of the remote, laying it on a flat surface causes it to wobble left and right. If you put it down real hard and happen to put it on the edge of your coffee table, you could very well wobble it right off the edge of the table. I haven’t had that happen but the fact that it wobbles is rather annoying. The screen is a great size, but having it in between the remote’s buttons is rather annoying. If you must use the top buttons, you’ll easily activate the screen by your palm or edge of your hand. The screen should have been placed above or below all buttons to maximize convenience. You can easily hit another function on the screen options and change the input; therefore deactivating your equipment and having to restart everything. It would really suck if this happened while gaming, but it’s very well plausible. Another design flaw would be the lack of physical number buttons. You have to use the on screen menu to access numbers. It’s just another two steps, but if they were on the remote physically, it would maximize efficiency in changing channels or navigating through the guide. Because they are touch buttons, you physically have to look down to make sure you’re pressing the right numbers, something I never have to do with physical buttons. Software: The software suite is very nice. It’s nice that it’s all online and you do not have to install any software but a simple driver to recognize the remote. The online suite is step by step and gives you utmost control of every button on your remote, the way you organize your on-screen commands, and layout. I will not get into great detail on this because it’s so intuitive and can be used in many different ways to customize your remote. Don’t be afraid to venture into the options, because everything is step-by-step and walks you through exactly what you’re changing for your convenience. Other notes: Battery life is nice. Considering I do not use it all that much, it can easily last five days or more. I have my remote hooked up to several devices: A/V receiver, Blu-ray player, TV, Xbox, Xbox 360, a Lasko Tower Fan, and a heater, yes an actual heater! You can literally hook up anything to this remote that uses a remote control. Logitech’s online library codes will help you get anything connected to it. Things I’ve come to notice: Sometimes I had to resave my online profile to the remote because it stopped turning on my A/V receiver with the command it was associated with. I also had this happen to my Xbox. I re-synced my remote but it really didn’t do much good. I’m not sure what is up with that but it’s an easy fix. Each time you press a command to turn on your components, the wizard will ask you if everything turned on. If it didn’t, the wizard will guide you through each component from power up command to input command to make sure your devices are on and on the right inputs. Overall, this is a good remote. I really like it in contrast of replacing 8 remotes. I do think it is a good investment but not so much if I didn't catch this item on sale. Due to the ergonomics and lack of physical number buttons—this is what contributed to my over all ratings. Hope my review is helpful! Good luck :-)

Setup was easy. Very similar to the previous Harmony models. I had problems with the range on the remote. You have to point it directly at the components or something didn't come on. My older harmony remotes were powerful enough to turn everything on every time. This one misses turning the tv on about half the time and I have to repeat everything to make everything power up. Very annoying for the price I paid. I may have to invest in the add on hub that works through your wireless network.

Had 6 remotes, down to one very sleek one now. Love the feel, fit and finish. Took no time to program all devices. Software that is used is very self explanatory, and helpful in finding the right device. Would 100% recommend.

Bought this because the earlier models sapped the batteries too fast. This one is okay with recharging just doesn't last too long on a charge. Also the commands aren't ergonomic enough. Keep hitting the wrong ones.

Great Remote, we now have 3 in the house. This remote was for our Home Theater. It works great, when we press the watch TV button, it turns down the lights, turns on the projector, Dish, Surround Sound and DVD.

My personal input is this, as are all logitech products, it is well built. The software has improved greatly. BUT many of the buttons are not backlit, which for us means a lot. 2nd was the fact that the Rwd, Fwd and Play were at the top of the remote, We DVR a lot and this remote just seems to be poorly laid out. Other than that, the touchscreen should work for many. Ours is going back or on ebay.
