My full time job is in IT, specializing in all aspects of security. This system was easily to install. One review outlined that the DVR generated a lot of noise -- the DVR is connected to our main TV and I never notice the noise when watching TV. The noise itself is comparable to a newer desktop PC. The supplied BNC cabling was long enough for my place and pulled easily through walls to install. Picture quality is great. The night vision is decent, but if you install a camera above a light source (i.e. flood light) it will allow full color to record at night. If you want to review license plates, I'd suggest getting an optional PTZ camera depending on the provided cameras location (mine is 30 ft away from street; see attached pictures). If you plan to leverage the motion detect features and alarms, ensure that your mounting location is not near something that will generate a lot of false positives (i.e. leaves on a tree shuffled around by the wind). I have all 4 cameras setup to record at highest resolution and can retain 5 full days worth of constant video and motion detect. From a networking ensure your router and / or range extender are cable of transferring data at rates of 1 GB+. The FLIR Cloud client works will on my Android and my wife's iPhone (setup took less than 5 minutes). You must understand your local network well enough to identify the DVR that allows you to review DVR content on your PC (mine is Windows 10 and works very well). I don't use the native DVR control panel as it's cumbersome without a keyboard. Be cognizant when viewing the Live View and local DVR recordings that there are main-streams and sub-streams which affect the quality of the picture you'll be reviewing when using the FLIR Cloud clients (on your phone and PC). The cameras have endured the elements quite well ranging from rain, hail and now entering fall and early morning frost, understanding all are mounted under an eve at my location. My only concern is the winter, as I haven't had an opportunity to review the cameras performance below 30 degrees (F), noting the camera is rated to perform at temperatures of 4 degrees (F).

Had the cameras installed professionally by the Geek Squad.Didnt want to run wires in the attic on 100 degree day! This is our first surveillance system and we are amazed at the clear HD video. The night vision is pretty good also. The 1TB dvr fills up in about 7 days with all 4 cams rolling but formatting is easy to do.Easy to get video feeds on your mobile devices.Large 197 page online owners manual offers a multitude of customization options for the system.Don't opt for email notification for motion detection until you have configured that option to your specific needs or you will get non stop email notifications.Camera bodies are plastic but so far seem to be doing a good job.Like many other reviewers have noted, the dvr unit is LOUD....but overall we are satisfied with it.

The only reason I didn't give the extra star is because the software could be easier to navigate... I accidentally set the monitor resolution to a setting not supported by my monitor and my screen went black. Never sensed that my monitor couldn't support that setting... So I had to go in through its IP address to reset it. Thank you customer service! Cameras are excellent. Great quality. Motion sensing is almost too good. I know every bug that flies across their path at night... And every bird during the day... But we got used to it. And the mere presence of the cameras, we feel, is a nice deterrent for the tempted.

I was really looking forward to having this security camera system replace the Android phones that I'm currently using as a security monitoring system. I should have done more research because after setting the system up I discovered that there is no color night vision. My second disappointment was to find out that the phones I'm using are much clearer, sharper, and able to perform night vision better than the Lorex system. The only plus I found was that the Lorex system came with a DVR. Of course, the firmware for this DVR hadn't been updated since 2015, nor is there any available current update. The cameras are just as old and just as outdated. In this day and age of computer networking and high-speed data transfers both wireless and wired, I should be looking into POE systems. This BNC setup is outdated as analog is. In the end, I returned it.

ZERO STARS CAM & APP DOES NOT WORK

I was fooled by numerous fake review websites so be careful. Check android app reviews or Apple App Store reviews. Customer service is nonexistent & you will not be contacted. Cameras don’t work well at night and are pretty much useless. I have high definition and I cannot even see my car license plate from 20 feet away. Look elsewhere for a better company that stands behind its products and takes care of its customers as this company will give you absolutely zero help and in fact never answered any of my emails. This company is even worse than DJI if you can believe that.

The camera are very nice just wish they were not plastic we also have a night owl system and they are metal which seem better but otherwise they are amazing crystal clear, the view is extremely wide gets my entire yard and more the night vision is great set up was easy done in less than 1hr, HD is the way to go deff. worth spending the extra money and the wide view is an extra bonus i will not even have to add more cameras to my house

I highly recommend anyone looking at Lorex to think twice. I had a brand new system and had it installed late Feb/early March 2017. I started having issues in May with noise, one camera has no image 90% of the time. You have to go back and forth with "Customer service" via e-mail wasting time until you finally get to a point where they send an email with "let's get a call together." It took 4 days for them to call. I had done all their "troubleshooting tasks" before I spoke to them. I had to do the steps again with them. Updated the firmware as per their request. In doing the color went a bit off and the image got a bit jumpy! Needless to say they suggested new cables at MY expense and they do not send out a replacement camera. Not only would you have to pay an electrician to re-run cables at your cost. Not to mention they only warrantee their cables for 3 months! They clearly do not stand by their product as that is the most expensive part given you have to have someone run the wires. They do however cover the DVR for a year, but that is hardly the portion of the system that goes bad. In my case it is one or both the cables and/or the wires. DO NOT BUY from these company... You will spend A LOT of money due to their unreliable / dysfunctional product. I also live in an condominium association. We purchased a few systems around the same time for various areas around our large complex. These systems also have cable and camera issues. Their cameras and cables seem to go bad quite fast, within a year. Their systems do not seem to last long . I would call them more disposable camera at best. DO NOT BUY ANY LOREX SYSTEM... SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Great camera good Color Day Image clear night image. Very detailed image. I purchased because it has more than twice the viewing angle of 2 standard cameras so covers very wide view angle only problem with wide view is the image is curved as well on the edges kind of dome shape. 160 degree viewing angle compared to standard 70 degree angle with standard Image on most other cameras. i can see my front yard driveway and most of the street 4 houses away with just one camera. the hard drive/fan recording box is a bit loud. the program is nice easy to navigate on your tv screen. and motion detection is nice , the system documents when ever there is motion detected.

We recently purchased this security system I had been looking at the different ones and we decided on the Lorex system because I had bought a Flir E4 thermal camera and really like the quality of there product. I had the camera's and system up and running in about 2 hours we are still fine tuning it but we are very pleased with it and are soon to be buying some additional camera's to compliment this system.

I purchased this 4 camera system to have security video inside and outside of my vacation home garage after a theft. I was intimidated about the setup at first, but pleasantly surprised at 1) how user friendly it was, and 2) How simple the setup was. Picture resolution is fantastic, and night vision works well. I was even happy that you can set some cameras to record all the time, and some to record only when motion is detected. My only criticism is that the menu takes some getting used to, but other than that I'm really happy with the system.

I have purchased and installed a good number of camera/dvr solutions and I like Lorex about the best. Easy to setup DVR, easy to Setup sharing to the internet, Nice PC and mobile apps (both iso and droid) and the camera quality are decent. This kit normally goes for $500 and got it for $375. Really can't beat it as the cams are 1080p ultra wide angle the the DVR supports 8 cams (4 in this kit).

The pics are clear and the wide angle lens is the reason we chose this system. There is no lag on the camera operation when it detects motion- this was a problem with our previous system . It's a bit more complicated to search for something specific in the record history but that may be that I haven't "learned" all of its features yet. Definitely worth the pricr

Have owned this product for about a month. Everything works as advertised. Setting up the app on my IPhone was a bit tricky because there are 3 different ones to choose from. After a call to customer service it was remedied. Great picture quality in both day and night mode. We have a 2 story house, so the cameras that are mounted higher up do have an oblong sight picture.
