Adrienne (Kendra Timmins, "Midnight Sun", "Wingin' It"), a straight-A student, joins her quarterback crush Sean (Justin Kelly, "Maps To The Stars", "Big Muddy") and some friends in sneaking out of their high school dance for some unsupervised mayhem. The teens' party plans hit a snag when they run out of gas on a deserted road. They head out on foot and discover a rundown farmhouse where they hope to find help, but instead find themselves at the mercy of Junior Joad (Mark Wiebe, "Sweet Karma"), a cannibal killer from an urban legend. After the brutal murder of one of their friends, the group’s quest for help becomes one of survival. Will anyone survive the night? While I enjoyed the film overall, there was room for improvement. The biggest mark against the film is that I found it to be overly dark. I can appreciate films that take place at night. But often the film is a little too dark in that you can't get a good look at what is happening. Now, that could be on purpose to hide poor special effects, but the effects we are able to see, look good. So it just made me feel like I was missing out on some good shots. Also, seeing as the film is supposed to feel like an 80's slasher, there was a total lack of nudity. Not to sound like a pervert, but 80's slashers were, for the most part, known to feature at least one young lady flashing her goods. I'm sure that will garnish the film some negative remarks from a number of fans. One other bad thing is while the characters in slashers are normally expendable, they should be somewhat memorable. I think that with a little better dialogue and some of the characters names used more often, it could have helped that issue. My favorite thing about the film is that they nailed the feel of the 80's pretty good with their use of music, clothing and hair. There are even a few 80's staples like a boombox, rotary telephone and a Rubik's Cube that make an appearance. The filmmakers do a fair job of adding in the stereotypical characters like the jocks, pot head, good girl, bad girls and even a clueless parent. "Lost After Dark" features a fine cast. It is nice to watch a film like this that has some quality actors. I don't recall anyone standing out, in a bad way. They really did a good job casting the film. It was nice to see Robert Patrick and Rick Rosenthal among the cast, even in smaller roles. I thought the practical effects use in the film looked pretty good. The small amount of humor in the film was used to good effect. Be sure to watch for a short post credits sequence following the film. AUDIO - [4 / 5]: The Blu-ray comes with one audio option in the form of a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. I found the audio quality on the Blu-ray to be excellent. The film makes some good use of surround speakers in key situations. I thought that there was a nice balance of dialogue, sound effects and score. I did not encounter any problems with the audio such as drop outs, pops or hissing. Also included on the "Lost After Dark" Blu-ray are English SDH and Spanish subtitles. VIDEO - [4 / 5]: "Lost After Dark" comes to Blu-ray thanks to Starz/Anchor Bay. The film is presented in 1080p with a 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio. The Blu-ray looks terrific. I did like the somewhat muted or faded look of colors used, as they give the film an aged look, which is what they intended. Viewers will notice some added effects such as scratches, white specks and even a "missing reel" in the film. If you are familiar with "Planet Terror," you have an idea what to expect. However the techniques used in this film do not occur anywhere near as often. They just pop up with the same frequency as some older horror films. Black levels looked pretty good. Skin tones have a nice, natural appearance. I did not notice any issues with the picture in the form of edge enhancement or other video artifacts. SPECIAL FEATURES: [0 / 5] Unfortunately, the Blu-ray does not come with any bonus materials. IN CONCLUSION: A decent enough attempt at being a throwback to the 80's. Slasher fans should find enough things in the film to satisfy most of their basic needs. Notice I did not say all of them. The video does feature excellent audio and video quality. So that is a big plus. It's a shame there are no special features included. I would advise most people to watch the film via VOD, rental, etc. rather than purchasing. However if you are a die hard slasher fan, I think you will be okay blind buying this Blu-ray since currently, it can be purchased for a reasonable price. Alright right off the bat I am going to say it, no special features! Come on, man. I buy BluRays for special features, otherwise i might as well catch this on NetFlix. Either way, this film has a lot of potential to be amazing, and it falls very short of that. Which is terrible, because the film is very average. I did enjoy the effects it did have though. The tension was great. That 80s atmosphere is pretty great. It just really makes wish this film was better. The plot is your generic crazy slasher which is forgivable given the genre and what this film set out to do. Ah, well. Hopefully a director's cut is released. i would love to know what went on behind the scenes. It feels like budget constraints might have crashed this one.

The film takes place in Broomfield, Michigan 1984 (filmed in Canada, okay.) Four teen couples take off for a nearby cabin, but run out of gas along the way, making their way to the minor subplot home of the proverbial feral slasher cannibal. The opening of the film attempts to do an old grindhouse film by having film marks ingrained in it. Instead of doing the entire feature this way, they just do the opening scene, while the rest of the film is in crisp digital, except for one critical scene where they pull the "scene missing" film burning nonsense. The movie uses stuff from the 80's such as a Rubik's Cube, mix cassette tape, LPs decorating the wall, T-shirts, magazines, clothes with studs, pot that requires a few joints to get high, and a picture of Reagan. Robert Patrick plays a politically incorrect principal. Perhaps he was another 80's throwback. The film had the token Black Guy (Stephan James) and virgin (Kendra Leigh Timmins) so we know who dies first and who survives...right? After they discover the slasher, the plan is to wait it out in his house until morning rather than to run away in different directions. Otherwise the film would be too short. It does contain some humor, but only when you consider it as a spoof of 80's slashers.

This is another slasher horror film that I enjoyed. It was meant to pay homage to the horror films of the 1980's. It is well executed in that sense, although I cannot necessarily say that it stands out. It can easily be forgotten among the sea of high quality slashers that have been released lately in the underground "straight to video" market. I think it's worth watching, but it will probably prompt you to watch the classic (and far superior) 80's horror films that have inspired it. If you enjoy this film try the classic 1982 Mad Man as well.

I had a good time with this. These throwback films can sometimes be a bit of a letdown but for me this one worked. I loved that every female character was named after an actress who played a classic "final girl" in one of the famous horror films of the 70s and 80 and that every male character was named after a famous director. There were some surprises in who lived and died as well. SPOILER ALERT:Could have done without the dog death though!

It tries to be an 80's inspired slasher homage, but there are too many references and pieces of it that fall off the mark, either because they were really 80's slasher tropes, they came from a different era, or it totally neglected to put in a lot of the tropes that really were ever-present in those 80's slashers. It's an OK movie with some decent scenes, but it's a pretty big let-down for me. I was expecting something more. It also happens to be a pretty underwhelming blu-ray disc with limited special features.

Overall this movie doesn't reinvent the wheel or create anything original, but it really isn't trying to. It is a fun movie that pays homage to some great 80s horror movies and is a throwback to the golden age of teen slasher films. This is a fun, turn-off-your-brain, grab some popcorn, shut off the lights and have some fun type of movie.

I enjoyed this movie. I had to watch it twice before I could honestly review it. I'm a horror movie buff. This is definitely old school 80's style slasher. It was a mash up of different horror movies. I'm not sure I liked the ending though. I think it could of been better, but that's my only complaint.

Lost After Dark tries to mimic the tone of the horror movies from the 80's. Unfortunately it feels more like a paint by numbers effort than truly capturing the spirit of movies from that era. I would say it's still worth checking out if you're a big horror fan. For most a rental or waiting for Netflix would be the best bet.

Ok movie, very dark and hard to see. I get the movie is supposed to be about being in the dark but it was hard to see anything on the screen with how dark the film was. Not a movie I'd rewatch but wasn't horrible, I've seen worse.

This brought back the feel of the 80's, in comparison to Friday The 13th type feel for it. Now, it's nowhere near that legendary movie, it just had the same feel for it. It was a nice throwback film to when horror was at it's best.

Lost After Dark is a very bloody horror movie with lots of gore!! You have to love horror movies to enjoy this type of guts and gore !! Worth Watching !!

I seen LOTS of hype over this film online & it got my attention quick since I am a BIG slasher/80s horror fan. A perfect throwback vibe with a decent amount of gore & fun kills.

I had high hopes for this movie based on the cover art. The cover screams throwback slasher, and I was disappointed. It's as if the writers were trying to hard to make it cheesy. Not for me

The reasonI liked the film was, becasue it took me back to the old horror movies. It had its blood scenes and ofcourse it's comedy moments.

Slow but fun start, the cast does a great job. Gory deaths begin half way through. Not amazing but a decent and enjoyable B movie.
