I recently got into home automation and I wanted a long term solution, so smart bulbs we not really an option. I picked up some cheap wifi light switches. They work well and do the job, but they weren’t going to work with all of my light switches due to the house wiring. Enter Lutron Caseta!! These switches are amazing!! They operate on a hub, so I don’t have a bunch of devices on my wifi. Just the hub. Speaking of which, the hub is small and doesn’t take a lot of electricity. In fact, I power mine from a USB port on my wifi router. It has a modern look so it goes well on a shelf, a hutch, or an entertainment center.
The switches themselves work great. They have a lighter tactile feel than I prefer, but they are of good quality. The wiring is fairly straight forward. The best part is the optional pico remotes. For multiple switches on the same circuit, you can install the a pico remote and not have to worry about wiring issues. And the remotes can operate multiple circuits. So, I’m our bedroom we have 1 remote for two switches. This way, if we leave the room we do not have to go all the way to the other side to shut off the light nearest the closet. Which was really annoying before this solution. I plan to do the same in my kitchen since the builder installed 3 different light circuits for a our small kitchen.
These light switches haven’t failed me yet. We use the Alexa app for home automation and the automation is solid. The cheap switches I installed in my garage have become unresponsive a few times, but not the Lutron switches!!
The price is the biggest constraint. These are $50-$70 a piece!! You can find deals and the initial purchase of this package deal helps, but they start to add up. Just be mindful not to order more than one package with the hub. I almost ended up with more than one hub because I wasn’t paying attention to what I was ordering.
Even with the price point, I give the Lutron Caseta switches 5 stars.

Install was a breeze for both the base station and the dimmer switch. Physically install the stuff, download the app, create a profile and add the devices in the app. Simple. Linking everything to Alexa was super simple too. Now I can talk to my home and control all of the important lights. I have two dimmers and two switches in total but this system allows for many more. Be aware that depending on your installation you may need new wall plates for the switches. I went with Lutron Claro ones and everything looks fantastic.

I have several of these switches and they always work. I even hooked on up for my pool light that is on the outside of the house in a box and connects to my internet with no issues. The remote is great for adding a second switch to a different location in the home. They are a bit pricey, but worth it.

We love this kit and have already recommended it to others.
It gives you Alexa/Google/Siri access to the included dimmer and any others you might add. We use it daily. The wall switch and remote and simple to touch and use and you cna even program a favorite. The voice command and app control allowed by the hub is a big HELP!
This setup also allows you to tie into Wink, IFTTT and SmartThings. ALl our systems work together now.

I have a newly built home and was looking for a good way to add dimming and phone control for our main rooms. This was a great combo of the 2 and was quite simple to install and set up. The only issue I had was with the bridge set up on Android, but I find that issue for almost all smart home products at initial set up. Using an iphone made it simple to finish app set up and everything works great.

Best 3 Wire Smart Switch

The Lutron Caseta is the ONLY smart switch I have found that ONLY needs 3 wires. No need for a neutral wire. So if you're in an older home this is THE smart switch for you. It requires a hub (included) but the hub can connect to several lights. Set up and installation was easy and I am using it with dimmable LEDs in a chandelier. I couldn't be happier. Thanks Lutron!

I purchased this to upgrade my switch to a smart switch, however I have an older house that doesn’t have a neutral wire in the switch box that most smart switches need to work. This works without the neutral wire. It along with the included bridge was easy to install and paired with my phone quickly and easily. I’ve been so happy that I have since purchased 2 more!

Pretty nifty gadget. Installation is on par with wiring any other light switch. Requires ground wire, so 3 wires total. Comes with small remote and fairly easy to setup eith network to control with Harmony remotes or Alexa. The only slight disappointment is that the networking station must remain connected to your wifi router and can't be placed elsewhere in the home. Very satisfied otherwise.

I am using this for my basement lights. I wanted to have a switch added at the top of my stairs for the rear lights in my basement. Installation was a breeze. I added the pico remote to the top of the steps. Now, if I forget (or the kids forget) to turn off the rear lights, I can do that from the top of the stairs without having to go back down into the basement. Not having to run any wires was a HUGE plus for me and truthfully, if wires would have had to be run, I would not have done it as it would not have been feasible.
I have the pico remote mounted about 30 feet from the light switch. There is little or no delay using the pico remote and I have not had any connection issues. I have not installed the Lutron bridge yet as none of my basement lights use voice control. I am planning on replacing several more switches with this set-up (minus additional bridges), so at that time, I will install the brige to enable voice-control. Very happy with the purchase and it is a must-have if you don't want to or are unable to run wires to add an additional switch for three-way control.

Took about 15 mins to install. I had to purchase the pico remote wall adapter separately but it was inexpensive and in stock at my local hardware store. Once installed this smart dimmer easily integrated with HomeKit and Alexa. It had only been a few days but so far it has been extremely reliable.

I snagged a wall plate elsewhere for this to set this up on a 3-pole switch. HomeKit compatibility drove me to Lutron, but the functionality and responsiveness will keep me buying additional Lutron products.
Caseta products use Lutron’s Clear Connect which if you want to read about there’s plenty of information available, but what it boils down to near instant response when activating light switches. Siri basically has the lights on and set immediately after you finish your voice command, and controlling them from the Home or Lutron app is light-ning fast.
This does mean, however, that you require a Hub (included in this kit) and only allows for a 30 foot range, which can be extended with a repeater or additional hub (if you have Ethernet available).
The dimming functionality is fantastic, however, it does not remember your setting once you power it off and back on, this isn’t a big deal due to my use of Scenes in HomeKit.
All in all, I’ve already purchased additional dimmers, and plan for multiple more switches for things like fan control, and lamps!

The starter kit is a great value to get going into smart lighting. I installed this in the basement for the ability to dim the lights after you are already all set and comfortable. It works fantastically and it's fairly easy to get going. Wiring the switch into wall is not hard but if you are uncomfortable with wiring switches you might want to hire this out. They have super detailed instructions so it's not impossible for anyone but you do have to open up the switch box (with breaker turned off of course!) and change the wiring. The central hub is easy to get setup. Just connect power and then network cable and your all set. The app on your phone will find it on the network. I do have to say that I had a dimmer for the lights that are controlled by the switch and it worked. The lights still work with this new one but not quite as well (takes a little while to dim down). I found out that Lutron does have a list of compatible lights for the switch. This will guarantee that they will work (dim) fully and not flicker. Not a deal breaker in my case but it's worth checking that list prior to installing.

I have a bunch of Hue lights integrated with Alexa but decided to try a couple of these switches for some recessed lights. Installation was easy, the app is slick, and it integrates easily with Alexa. It's a bit on the pricey side and there are cheaper alternatives, but this is a quality product.

I love the Lutron Caseta line. The set up was easy and the integration with Apple HomeKit is great. I’ve been impressed with the range of the switches to the Hub. I have multiple switches installed in a detached garage with the hub inside. The switches work great with no issues.

These Lutron remotes allow one to place a light switch anywhere one wants without having to cut a hole in wall, rewire. Just pair it with the base RF switch and that’s it. And the Bridge also works well. We have 3 stories with bridge on 3rd floor and still can control RF switch on bottom floor...and that is through a lot of walls! And the App is great too. Can control lights and some other compatible devices like shades, thermostats. Will add that Lutron Customer Service is what we used to expect in Customer Service: simply excellent in helping you choose the right devices, installation help, and friendly to boot. I actually enjoy calling them when I have a question!!! Very satisfied with the Lutron products and company.

I absolutely love this dimmer.Very easy to install. I did it myself and I am far from an electrician. I have the options to control the lighting in my bedroom. I can use the wall dimmer, the remote, or my phone. It works with Apple home which I think is so cool. Can't wait to purchase more to complete the house.

These are the best smart lights you can add to your home. You can also combine these with other smart bulbs like philip hues. I have it set to when arrive home my lights turn on automatically. I can also control them when way from home.
