    Best laptop

This is the best laptop I have ever owned. It is so compact and lightweight and it sips battery power. You will not have to plug it in until the end of the day with normal usage. There’s no fan inside so it’s literally silent. It does get warm but it will not overheat. Also Apple doesn’t give you more RAM or GPU power than you need, however this laptop is not suited for power users. But for those who only do basic computer functions like email/Facebook/YouTube videos like me, it is perfect.

First, let me say this is an excellent computer, and I love it. My primary motivation for purchasing was to increase the speed of video editing and movie project rendering/production. I upgraded from a late 2017 MacBook Air with a 2.2 GHz dual-core i7 Intel processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It was great, except for the extended time it took for movie processing in iMovie. My other reasons to upgrade were that I found 128GB too small for my needs, and Office 365 applications took forever to open. All my expectations have been fulfilled. Speedy! Additional benefits are the Retina display, the Force touch trackpad, the Fingerprint reader, and improved speakers/sound output. I am sorry that I lost the SD card slot and the USB 3 ports of my previous Mac. I had to purchase a USB-C dock to attach an external USB drive and to read SD cards from my camera. One other picky nuisance for me is that the headphone jack on the 2017 machine was on the left side. On the 2020 machine it is positioned on the right side, which causes a problem for me because the earbud/headphone connection and cord get in the way of my mouse movements to some degree. What can I say? But, really, this new laptop is great. I am very happy with it.

I’ve updated to this laptop from the previous intel MacBook Air. My biggest issues with the previous version were the heat and battery life. This M1 MacBook Air is excellent in those areas. It may not be a flashy new design, but it is tried and true. Honestly, if Apple had introduced a new chip and a new laptop design, I would have waited. I imagine that I’m using this laptop as most people will: checking email, browsing the web, synching apple photos and notes, and running a few basic applications. In this regard, this is the laptop to have. It does all of these perfectly with battery lasting very very long. I have installed a few applications that run under Rosetta 2, but apart from the pop up asking me to install Rosetta 2, everything works as planned. Some iOS apps install, if the developers want them to, and the few that I’ve installed work OK. Obviously if an iOS app relies on touch somethings will be quirky at best (keyboard shortcuts and trackpad options to reproduce the touch screen experience). For these reasons, this will be the laptop I will recommend to anyone. Unless you need to run specific apps for Windows, this is the laptop users with average computing needs should have.

Simply put - this thing is a beast! Got for my wife for basic computer use (email, browsing web, typing, etc) and for those uses it is an amazing laptop! Super light, very quiet and battery lasts for a really long time. Great for travel and use around the house. The lack of 4 USB ports isn't a concern. Overall, the M1 chip makes this thing shine. I actually can't wait to upgrade my iMac with one that uses an Apple M chip in the future!!

After my positive experience with the M1 MBA, I have upgraded my daughter's i7MBP with this MBA of 512Gb capacity as she has a bigger library of music, photos and videos for her college projects. She appreciates the lighter weight in her backpack, all-day battery life, and the blazing-fast performance with the M1 chip and only 8GB RAM!!! This should be high on the list for college-bound grads in their laptop selection process!

Works great for my teaching job. i can also work with garageband with no problem and it is very light weight. If you need it to edit videos maybe go for the macbook pro.

I've had this MacBook Air for 3 weeks now and it far exceeded my expectations. I heard all the reports of how good the M1 chipset is and they were correct. It's fast, programs open right away, rendering videos in iMovie is much quicker than my 2019 MacBook Pro 13". The battery lasts all day. No fan = no fan noise. I'm not missing the Touch Bar at all. My two year old MacBook Pro is becoming very lonely. No regrets at all

Absolutely beautiful looking laptop. Has done everything I need it to from running multiple programs at once, coding, and leisurely watching. I only charge it every few days. Runs butter smooth and the m1 chip is amazing. My only complaint is that the speakers are not that loud, however I usually use headphones anyway. Overall 9.9/10

Yes, it’s really excellent product, Apple M1 chip is much faster than even intel i7 processor, with no fan, it’s silent doesn’t heat up at all and performance wise excellent, it’s camera is also much improved, even if there is light coming from behind it takes nice pictures unlike other laptops camera which needs light from front to take a good picture while doing video calling and meetings. It’s worth buying and excellent product of Apple

Very fast. Battery life is super. The form factor is awesome, very compact and light. I have only one problem and that would be my mistake, I got an 8GB version I really should have chosen a 16GB because I edit a lot of photos. My camera is 62megs pixel so the 8 is a little limiting. The processor is super fast thought and I think most people would be very happy with the 8GB machine. This is a great machine for almost everything I do.

Bought this for a client to use at home in place of a an old MacBook Pro. It's very fast and quiet. Very similar design and interface to the older models, which makes it easier for a lot of folks who already like MacBooks. I'm not personally a fan of Apple, but if you're looking for a MacBook, this model with M1 is far better than the old ones with Intel chips.

I upgraded from a windows 10 laptop. I am very happy with my MacBook and I would never go back to Windows. The performance, reliability, and quality are beyond my expectation. I would highly recommend MacBook Air. I also had Window programs and documents that can be transferred to the MacBook.

Fantastic laptop and extremely happy with it thus far. Battery life is impressive. Machine is quick and responsive. The fact that its dead silent as well is a huge plus. I went back and forth between this and the pro and glad I went this route instead. If you actually use this portable, the AIR is the way to go. You do a slight bit of battery life and 1 CPU core. However, for that, you get a lighter, thinner and MUCH more quiet machine.

It's my first macbook ever, and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. With the M1 chip, it's really fast, clean, accurate, and functional. It's super light (that's my main thing with a laptop, the weight had to be extremely light) and the macboook air did not disappoint. I've only had it since March 2021, and it's still holding up extremely well - battery life, condition, all of the boxes.
