Far superior than the "color" version as sometimes the saturated colors just became annoying., the deep richness of the "chrome" black and white creates far better tension and moods throughout the bleak landscapes making this truly a black and white classic, rather than just a overblown, Hollywood summer special effects blockbuster! Having seen the color version where certain "colored" elements were cleaver fully done and unique in the story I still believe you will be in for a glorious tale that will relay heavily on story and characters rather than sometimes glaring visual effects., I've heard a lot of people mention there is no story but yes there is when you get into the rhythm of the action the storyline rides with it equally.

Another solid steelbook exclusive from Best Buy! Excellent build and a confident disc spindle without difficulty of removal or replacement. Although I prefer the artwork from the original 2015 release, this still possess fantastic imagery. Also, this is not in the usual high gloss finish we're use to with most steelbooks. It has a very fine, grainy texture to it . . . like sand! Great to see a 4k release of this film with its own steelbook version. Of the three reboots released in 2015 (the other two being Terminator Genisys and SW: Force Awakens) this was, in my opinion, the best. When I saw it in the theater on opening day it brought back many childhood memories. In the subsequent days after release everyone I know on Facebook that posted about it absolutely loved it. I think it surprised everyone, including myself, just how excellent it was. I LOVE this movie!

The Year's Best Movie Gets a Good Blu-Ray Release

Nobody needed a new Mad Max movie 30 years after the previous entry (Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome), but we're lucky to have this unexpected treasure, with Tom Hardy stepping into Mel Gibson's leather jacket. After Max is captured by a crazed warlord, he is forced to team up with a turncoat warrior (Charlize Theron) trying to redeem herself after years of service to evil. The stunts and car chases are beyond anything you've ever seen, and the performances by Hardy and Theron are excellent. Fans of The Road Warrior or any of the original Mad Max films will not be disappointed; the best movie of the year so far. It looks and sounds great on Blu-ray and the extras detail how difficult it was for director George Miller to pull off this masterpiece, which should make viewers appreciate the effort even more.

The film isn't for everyone (none is) but i found it to be my favorite all out action film since probably T2. It doesn't really matter if you go regular blu-ray or UHD, you're in for a visual and auditory treat. Both discs feature Atmos mixes that will just murder your home system if you're equipped for it. From the opening credits as various voices and sound elements build and move all around you, to when Miss Kitty shotgun blasts the roof and you look up to make sure you don't have a hole there, it impresses. Obviously all he car carnage is reference material. I probably honestly prefer the regular blu on a plasma, but the 4K HDR experience is also a very solid once, despite it being an uprez. no matter, you're set for a film that LOOKS and SOUNDS great.

I don't think I've ever seen a film more visually stunning than Mad Max: Fury Road. This story builds on what most people already love about Mad Max films in general, beefed up muscle cars, post apocalyptic Australian outback, seedy and dilapidated yet resourceful characters, and a lone reluctant hero named Max. However, the aesthetic of this film (in my opinion) far surpasses that of the others in this franchise. Buying this film on anything less than Blu-ray audio and visual quality was never an option, and the Blu-ray didn't disappoint. Packed with full length featurettes on all aspects of the film from characters and sound, to visual effects and production commentary, the extras were definitely worth the Blu-ray purchase. Highly recommended if you like high octane action!

The social agenda inserted in the plot is clumsy and awkward, and occasionally disrupts suspension of disbelief - but let's be realistic - you're already accepting a lot of suspension of disbelief with this franchise regardless of the social and political messages inserted into a movie that otherwise has a very thin plot. The visuals are spectacular, the excitement is constant - and the fact that the presence of Max is really just a vehicle to make the movie a guaranteed blockbuster success is secondary. If you're the kind to be inclined to enjoy the agenda in the subtext of the movie, it won't bother you. If you're the kind to be bothered by it, my advice is to ignore it, they did a pretty poor job at promoting that aspect, anyhow. The rest of it is a promising beginning that paints some backstory that may be interesting to see explored. As for the product itself - it is a good value. I recommend watching it, then rewatching it again with subtitles enabled so that you can understand what Max and everyone else is grunting, barely audible, under explosions, car wrecks, and screaming fire-belching guitars.

I actually own this movie in 2 formats, the 4K and 3D. Each have this unique characteristics that shine. First the 4K version. I my opinion, owning at the time of this review about 50 4K Blu-rays, rate this a probably my favorite 4K HDR experience without exception. For example, when they head into the storm, be prepared for a color explosion (especially from the lightning). Second 3D version. I've found 3D to be hit or miss. Seems that the 3D is either great or its a total waste of money. This movie in 3D is a 3D masterpiece (perhaps only beaten by the Hobbit series which is possibly the best 3D congrats to Peter Jackson) Back to this movie itself. If you are looking for action, special effects, great HDR, and a good story; look no further.

I took a chance on seeing Mad Max; Fury Road because my husband wanted to see this film. Fortunately, the movie turned out to be a bargain and well worth it (the location and timing when we saw the movie allowed us to see it at a discount). As many know, Mad Max Fury Road stars a multiple number of today’s popular actors/actresses (Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult and many additional well-known celebrities). The movie features a group of women banding together to get away from a very tyrannical leader. Two of the men end up becoming a significant part of the female entourage with dramatic results. The movie does center very much on the dystopian side, yet paints a powerful message of the amazing things that can happen when people unite together for a similar cause.

It lived up to all the positive reaction to be sure. The world is somewhat limited so I wouldn't say it's quite up there with The Lord of the Rings or what's coming with the new Star Wars films, but for what is essentially a chase down Fury Road you get a lot of excitement and some interesting characters. Nice to sort of see Toe Cutter from the original Mad Max back in a prominent role as the lead villain, Immorten Joe. And we even get Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough, and Lenny Kravitz's daughter as Joe's escaped breeders. Worthy of adding to the collection for sure. Not really as graphic or violent as the first two films except for about two brief moments of female nudity and some somewhat scantilly-clad escapees. Could have easily been PG-13.

This movie is pretty much one giant chase, with about three small breaks for exposition and character building. Set in an apocalyptic future where gas is a high commodity, Max (who isn't really the star of the movie) reluctantly helps several young women escape from a tyrannical overlord. You do not need to have seen any of the previous movies to enjoy this one. If you like incredible action sequences, amazing car stunts, and great performances across the board, pick this one up! For those who care about 3-D, the picture quality is great. For me, the extra layer is worth the extra couple of bucks (you need a 3D TV and Blu-ray player for it to work). The 3D effects are not distracting, and at times add to the tension. It's a lovely day to watch this movie!
