Playing an action movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the setting, very accurate, lovely open world, fantastic story and gameplay. One downside is the action gets a little repetitive. Other than that a great purchase.

Fun game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like open world games that allow you to make your own way. Yes there is a storyline that you must follow to proceed in the game but you can go about it the way you want. The game reminds me of GTA with a southern flair. The game is based in the 60s so if you are easily offended by racial slurs I would steer clear of this game.

Enjoyable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite the negative reviews I read about this game, I'm actually finding it very enjoyable. The game has short comings with A.I., but I haven't had any issues with glitches or crashes. The game is a solid choice if you want a story driven game with a fictional historical plot.

Good but has Problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story and cinematic sequences are the strong point. The action scenes are fun. There are some problems though: - Very stupid AI. You can stand in one place and silently kill one baddie after another without moving and just pile up the bodies. Every time you kill one, another comes looking in the same spot. They come one at a time, slowly. - No fast travel. The driving mechanic is good, but this is such a glaring omission. Can't even fast travel to safe houses. This is beyond irritating and makes finishing the game a grind. Not because it is challenging, but because it takes FOREVER to go where you need to go!

Easy 7 out of 10
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was stoked for Mafia III. One of the only games I can remember that truly embraces its time period, which is the late 60s, and all of the social drama in and around New Orleans. It's easy to say that the acting, and presentation is top-of-class. The story is compelling, and interesting, and deals with racism in America during 1968 in a fictional city called New Bordeaux. That's basically where the good stuff stops. Sure, the main character, Lincoln Clay, a half-black American is fun as heck to play as, but the shooting, the driving, and the missions are all very repetitive outside of the first five hours. Drive to this place, get this thing, and bring it back. Spend literally five or 10 minutes traveling from place to place, just to get a cutscene, and then drive all the way back to where you started. There's no fast travel, and that map is huge. Also, the console versions of this game are pretty buggy. I had the game crash three times during my 15 hours of play. If you're really into the subject matter, go ahead and pick up Mafia III, but if you want to wait a little bit, you can most likely get it when it goes on sale for $10 or $20 cheaper than it is now.

Fun and enjoyable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mafia 3 is a very enjoyable game. The driving and combat is a ton of fun! But it is a bit easy to kill all the bad guys without being seen. I do wished that the game had fast travel so you dont have to drive all over the place. Also the racism is a little over the top. But overall this game is top notch and the story is well done! It a good game to play while waiting for Red Dead 2 to come out if you are tired of GTA

Excellent open-world crime story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad I played it. Nine crashes, a number of bugs. Maybe it should have had a few more months for polishing. What they did right: - The storytelling. From beginning to end, an excellent crime story with vivid and entertaining characters that provoked all kinds of emotional reactions. Great voice acting, impressive character rendering. I don't recall ever seeing that much attention paid to characters' complexion. - The atmosphere. A genuine sense of place and time. - The soundtrack. Well chosen, gave me chills a couple of times. Give me a choice and I'd pick Stones over Beatles as well. - The action. Good weapons, solid gunplay, good cover system. A high number of memorable setpiece fights. What they did poorly: - Seriously dumb AI - Too much repetition and grinding to get to the setpiece fights. Shortening the game by 5-10 hours would not have bothered me in the least. Repeating the same missions for all rackets depending on who controlled them didn't make much sense. How exactly does pot help you in construction? - The bosses below your underbosses had some interesting interactions with Lincoln that ended abruptly, would have liked to have seen more about them. - The graphics engine did some weird filtering thing with mid-distance light, made it look glitchy. - Unlcear when the optional missions were unlocked, when they would be unlocked, or became useless. Unclear what benefit resulted from the racket-building missions (max it out and do their quest chain to make your underbosses loyal). - Requiring more than 1 playthrough to get all of the achievements. Once through was plenty. Looking forward to the DLC.

Gritty to the Core
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of people complain about this game and it's glitches it's a huge open world game with no multiplayer that focuses solely on the story and the story is great the combat mechanics are good if you played Mafia 2 you noticed the main character from that game is one of you partner in crippling the Italian mob this is definitely a game for the adults Ultraviolence with racism of the of the late 1960. I wouldn't get this for any child under the age of 17 but all in all great graphics great story great game

Interesting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Storyline 4.5/5 Gameplay 2.5/5 Graphics 4/5 It's a good game with an interesting story but it's let down by being a bit buggy (crashing a few times, boats spinning on their axis etc). I've enjoyed it and now that it's been out for a while it's decent value. I would feel ripped off if I had brought it new and full of hype.

Better than I expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remember everyone complaining that this game was really bad. I believe it is an excellent game due to a massive open world and the gameplay. You can approach your missions in different ways. I prefer a stealth approach but you can go full Rambo if you wish. Graphics are great since the newest updates fixed that issue. The story is interesting and managing your mafia is tough. Overall it is a far better game than others would suggest. I believe it is an excellent game though.

Great take on Maffia series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an interesting take and direction for the Maffia series to go. I really enjoy the story in this game. The graphics are good but not the best. A few bugs here and there but nothing completely game breaking. Overall a great game experience. Looking forward to the DLC.

Enjoyable Open World Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked Mafia III more than I thought I would. The setting was fairly unique and there was an interesting story at the heart of the game. I also liked the storytelling device used in the game, a documentary-style film on the main protagonist of the game. The gameplay is fairly solid, if a little repetitive as you get deeper into the game, but it is an enjoyable package all the way around.

Great story, boring open world
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is open world except there's nothing to do in the open world. Pretty similar to Mafia 2 if I remember correctly. The main story itself is pretty good and it tackles issues you don't normally see brought up in video games. If you can get it on sale for under $20 I'd recommend - I bought it at $15 personally and I'd say it's worth it.
