If you are a fan of Angelina Jolie, or the Snow White story, you may like this movie. There is a sequel out now as well.

Don't know how I missed ever seeing this movie...I thought it was a good one for the family,,,good sound and vision..

Not what I was expecting, I needed up enjoying the movie more then I normally would. The kids would love the movie.

Hopefully my daughter can finally watch and enjoy this movie, She has thought it is too real like and scary but loves Disney.

I feel I should say that I'm not a big fan of Angelina Jolie, however I was pleased with her performance in Maleficient. This movie was a great escape for a little while. The movie actually tells the story of how Maleficient came to be and it was great to see how the antagonist of Sleeping Beauty became who she was. The visuals in this movie were great and made me feel like I was in her world. Elle Fanning put on a good performance with Angelina, but the latter stole the show. It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster to be honest because I could feel the innocent and happy-go-lucky girl in the beginning, the betrayed and vengeful woman in the middle, and the warm motherly woman in the end. All in all this is an entertaining movie to enjoy with friends and family.

Great beginning story of sleeping beauty and why Maleficent became the way she was. I would definitely recommend.

Maleficent is an amazing live action film. No second guessing to rate it a 5 star. The visuals the colors the acting the story line. A very unique take on Sleeping Beauty. I unfortunately wasn't a fan of the original sleeping Beauty from Disney at all. The unique twist is we get to see Maleficents true side in the film. I'm not a huge fan of Angelina Jolie but she did an amazing job on the role as Maleficent. This movie is one that I've had my eye on for a long time as it has been released for a while now. A pickup for sure for Maleficent fans.

The film receives a nicely prepared UHD steelbook release in time for it's sequel to hit theaters.

This movie is one of my favorite of all time. I heard some people didnt appreciate the back story to Maleficent, and how she wasnt just mean/evil/crazy for the sake of being that way, but I personally much more appreciate when a villain has purpose and meaning for being wicked. This movie is absolutely superb. The visuals are stunning, the mythology is excellent, and the characters are interesting. I felt a real sense of connection to the characters, and really felt their pain as they experienced harsh events. The reason being, is due to the fact of the acting, and a sense of realism, as such events that take place, seem highly plausible. Just overall excellent story telling.

I was very excited when I heard that Disney was remaking the Sleeping Beauty classic and while I found enjoyment in this film, it was a tad bit underwhelming. The film, to me, felt like it was trying to tell two different types of stories, one being a fantasy story and the other being an action/adventure story. Maleficent has historically been a villain so this version puts out a new twist on her character. It just doesn't feel right to have this evil looking fairy be a good one. Now, keep in mind, perhaps that follows the old rule, "don't judge a book by it's cover", but that's still how I feel even after seeing it. I don't regret my purchase by any means though, as I said, I did enjoy the film, it just wasn't what I really wanted it to be. The film has amazing graphics and they really shine through on the blu-ray disc. It's a beautiful film to watch, almost all the way through. The film also has loads of great special features which I really enjoyed, being a fan of the original fairy tale. Even if your like me and don't really like it when a story breaks away from the traditional version, this film will still be enjoyable. If you're just looking to sit back and be told a decent story, this is a good one. The graphics alone make this a good film.

The general consensus among film critics panning the film is that Maleficent suffers from a shallow plot filled with holes in character development and dialogue. While true in many respects, the criticism ignores the fact that there's a lot happening in the span of 1.5 hours. Aside from a 3-hour epic or splitting the film into two movies, both of which would invite negative reactions on new levels, the film does surprisingly well with the time given. In light of the fact that this is a spin on classic fantasy tale, we shouldn't put so much into our expectations for a believable story line. The paper-thin characters in the supporting cast could have been better, but ultimately it's Angelina Jolie's performance that makes the movie enjoyable and somewhat memorable. The film really excels at humanizing one of the most villainous characters from the Disney classics. The spin here is that Maleficent's anger is justfied, and you find yourself rooting for a character that was previously thought to be the villain. Her relationship with Princess Aurora develops into a heart-warming story that children will connect with and appreciate. It's an imaginative fresh look at a decades-old fairy tale, holes and all.

This is a great movie and an interesting spin on the Sleeping Beauty story. The movie focuses on Maleficent who was the villain in Sleepy Beauty but in this movie, it shows why she did what she did. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say everything from the story to the character progression to the incredible special effects were all too notch. Angelina Jolie did an awesome job on her portrayal of powerful fairy. This movie had me going through multiple emotions. Happy, sad, excited etc. A movie I've watched numerous times!! Great Job.

Pretty much any movie I purchase is decent entertainment and most of the reviews start with that title. This is an older title that I happened to see on sale and grabbed it for my collection. I enjoyed watching this movie when I saw it back when it came out. It is a darker telling of the sleeping beauty story and was done very well.
