I must say that this movie was very well written and one of the best to start off Disney's classics that have been reworked into live action. Angelina does a terrific job playing her role and this movie has immense details in it that just make it magical. If you've seen the classic cartoon, this will definitely be a great movie to watch and if you haven't, it's still just as good. I can't give too much away but if you're a Disney fan, you'll appreciate this movie.

Fun movie to watch for some live action Disney fun.

This film is absolutely enchanting. Angelina Jolie was obviously born to play this role. She plays it with such style. She commands your attention. The Christening was a particular favorite scene of mine. Elle Fanning is absolutely gorgeous as the soft and beautiful Aurora. She is sweet, elegant, and exudes a natural nobility befitting of royalty. Sam Riley has a wonderfully fun time playing Maleficent's shape shifting companion What-have-you-done-to-my-beautiful-self? Diaval. Two thumbs up! Five stars! Fun for children and grown-ups!

These days, when you watch a Disney film, you realize it actually has a message or two. If you're a kid, you don't always see it. Take WALL-E for example. One of the themes is that you shouldn't allow technology to dominate your life. Sleeping Beauty is a classic, but in this age, the villain is more interesting. Maleficent isn't the villain in the strictest sense. You see that there is a method to her madness. She's not crazy, but I don't get many chances to use that expression. She started out one way, but then she was betrayed by someone she cared about, turning her heart cold and causing her to enact the curse on Princess Aurora, who is the deuteragonist (secondary lead character) here. Maleficent is portrayed as being complex and multi-dimensional. It isn't the greatest film but it is above-average. I'm just glad they got some things right.

If you want to see a new twist on an age old story, this movie is for you. Besides the excellent performances by an all star cast, the cgi sends the viewer into the world of Maleficent. From childhood to adulthood, played by Angelina Jolie, you are transported to her view. As a young adult betrayed by the soon to be King. She becomes the evil queen of the forest. But after casting a spell on the Kings newborn daughter, Aurora, she begins to realize that Aurora may be the key to uniting both kingdoms. A must see.

I had the opportunity to see this movie in theaters, at the time of its release. At first, it did not grab my intention but my girlfriend, sincerely wanted to see it. Story short: The image quality, in depth story and charater development really intrigued me and, of course, my girlfriend as well. Action, Drama, and twist of unexpected events. I knew it had to end up as a gift in a movie shelve. Of course, not on mine though, girlfriend's, but oh well. Great movie and an excellent gift for those who enjoyed it.

I remember watching this movie years ago & was so impressed at the ending. Instead of a male prince charming coming to rescue the damsel in distress, they made it a mother's love which saved the day. Later we saw this several times on the Once Upon a Time series, but I think this movie did it first & it was so refreshing. When I saw this in the sale bin recently, I picked it up for my collection & enjoyed watching it all over again.

A back story that no one could have seen coming! Who would have thought that the evil witch could be touched so deeply by someone she longed to hate so much, but found that to be an impossible task especially as she followed the child's development through the years. This retelling of a Disney classic from a steeply different angle is enlightening and funny in its delivery of the story no one knew, or even guessed. Fun for the whole family. Make some popcorn and enjoy this new take on an old staple.

We had seen this version in the theater when it came out and even though it completely changed my childhood notion of how things happened and who woke Aurora with "loves true kiss", I still thought Angelina and the other actors were outstanding. No movie stays true to form anymore, and though it was definitely on the darker side of how most of us were told and remember this story, I felt the critics were way off in their critiquing this one. I bought it because I wanted to enjoy it again and again.

I saw this in theaters twice with my three year old and we both liked it. The dragon only startled her a little but I made light of it by showing her maleficent is really a fairy(which she loves) . I Love the bonus features and blu Ray is good quality. When it comes to new releases for movies I look forward to walking into best buy and picking up my movie on release date. Great movie, Angelina was great and lovable even as a villain. Prefer this way more than the classic old animated Disney version

The "twist on the classic fairy tale" tag line fits this movie quite well, but Maleficent really does deliver on many levels. MINOR SPOILERS BELOW Maleficent's backstory gives the audience a solid reason to be sympathetic to her character, and that sets the stage for the latter scenes in the film (where at times Maleficent's character and actions are not so relatable). There are some scenes that may be too intense for you get viewers, although my four-year old adores the film and has never seemed bothered by any of the images. Essentially, like many great films (I'm looking at you original Star Wars trilogy) this is really a tale of the redemption and absolution, but told in a new and refreshing way and appropriate for young audiences, with enough depth of characters to hold the attention of adults. ****

When I first watched this, I thought I was gonna be bored because I'm not a big fan or "re-imagining of classics" but was I wrong. I was blown away by its different take on the story (putting the villain as the focus of the story), no longer believing in love at first sight, no more of that getting saved by true love's first kiss by a prince which totally makes sense in this day and age. If you're a big fan of the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, then you'll definitely like this one as well.

If you're looking for a live action true to story Sleeping Beauty this is not for you. This was however a great movie about a heroine and villain named Maleficent. Sleeping beauty with a twist starring Angelina Jolie. A wonderful action, drama, and family movie. This movie specifically highlights Maleficent rather than the princess. Disney made a lovely remake. I bought the Blu Ray, DVD, and digital copy version. The digital copy provides both Disney Anywhere and iTunes download.

This was a great movie and although many children love it, I do not consider it a movie for a very young child. Unlike the Disney version which focused on Sleeping Beauty, this version focuses on the good fairy (Maleficent), turned evil, then back to good. The movie sends a strong message about the power of love versus evil. Certainly the movie gives much more dimension to the character of Maleficent. The special effects and backdrop are spectacular and I loved the storyline.

Not bad, but not that good. Disney is in the habit of retelling the same stories to capitalize on former success. I prefer new and original ideas, but that’s just me. Decent acting and decent filming, just... meh.

Between makeup and CG, they made her the most beautiful creature to ever grace the screen! And I'm not usually a fan of her or her work! I bought this for my daughter and the family watched it together. I wasn't expecting much, I'm 41 and read the Disney book, right? Mom read it to me to put me to sleep right? This isn't THAT Sleeping Beauty. My wife and I were in awe. Great story, great CG, no real boring parts, it kept your attention. Def worth owning in my opinion

Once again Angelina Jolie nails it dead on in her portrayal of one of the scariest villains from my childhood in a twist on the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it, but I would highly recommend this movie highly although my two boys (ages 5 & 6) had a hard time following the story and lost interest about 30 minuets into the film, I'm sure older childeren will love it (especially if they've seen the original).

this is what movies are made of, excitement from start to end. what more can i ask for? this is an amazing story that you will get to appreciate for its artistic and scenery. this is a wow me movie by Anjolina...she is good at this role and i really appreciate her acting with this one and she is the right one for this movie...the 4k version is a gift..

Being a Disney Fan I couldn't wait to see this movie as I didn't catch it at the Theater when it was out. I thought that it would be somewhat scary (for Disney) my how I was wrong. This movie was beautifully told with some Narration in it but only enough to answer questions you may had been thinking about. I couldn't help but shed some tears as the story was ending. If you haven't seen this movie you need too. Its quite a different ending than you may think

Best new movie from a story we grew up knowing. But after all these years we finally know the whole story. Instead of being scared of Malifacent for all those years as a child growing up thinking we knew the whole story!!! Now I have grown to love her more now then ever before and I like Malifacent must better the Sleeping beauty's movie!!!!Great movie to have a movie date with the whole family and watch and see that Malifacent isn't who see seems anyone ;)
