Try not to think too much about the original Disney classic Sleeping Beauty. There really is no continuity from that film. What you have in Maleficent is a fantastic stand-alone movie with a good story, fantastic special effects and a superbly creepy Angelina Jolie. This movie should have won the Oscar for Best Makeup.

We love this Disney story. It's always cool to hear a new one that you didn't grow up with or one you did but you learn a bit more about it! I'm pretty sure a lot of this movie was done on the computer but some of it looks very real! Wife and daughter love it-- pick yours up today!

What can I say? This is Disney. How can you go wrong. If you are an advent Disney fan, Maleficent is a must have for your Disney collection. Angelina Jolie is supreme. The background story line helps you to understand how Sleeping Beauty came to be. This movie is a fantastical epic of fairies, love, heroes and villains

Fairy tales are important. They teach lessons, entertain, frighten, make us smile, cry, laugh, and stay out of the woods at night. I'm a big fan of the original cartoon Sleeping Beauty, so I was excited to see Maleficent in the theater, and now I can watch it any time I want. Great story, and blu-ray does it justice.

My wife, oldest son and daughter all loved the movie. The story stayed true to the original animated movie. It was action packed enough for my 15 year old son. My wife thinks it may be too intense for the little ones as she did not let my 3 or 5 year old watch the movie. But they'll get their chance when their older.

Maleficent is a new telling of an old story. This is a very good twist on the story of Sleeping Beauty. My kids and I all really enjoyed the movie and will watch it again. The cast is very good and the cinematography is and CG is very well done. I would recommend this movie to anyone that likes good family movies.

I have a nine year old daughter and I wonder who enjoyed the movie more.... We went to see this when it first came out at the movie theater, but I had to have it in my collection, it is an interesting take on Snow White not to mention that I love Angelina Jolie. A very good movie that I highly recommend watching.

I didn't expect to like this film and found myself very surprised when I did. I liked the twist and changes they made for Maleficent and explained why she was the way she was, instead of being just evil. Since then I've watched this several times with my 3 year old niece, or as I now call her, my little beastie.

I enjoyed this film. I won't say it it the best and I had other expectations that I think would have been better, but there are genuine moments in this film and can be rather touching at times. Malificent is a villian and hero in this. It shows how she was definitely wronged in a way that you can't blame her for wanting revenge, but even then she regrets taking revenge in a moment of anger. Angelina Jolie is definitely the best part of this movie as she seems to relish her role and plays it brilliantly.

While this is just a modern day remake of the original sleeping beauty from the 50's, it's nice to see the new splash of technology on the old story. That being said there a lot of creative licenses taken with this movie on the origin tale of Maleficent and her involvement with Aurora over her 16 years of being cursed and the "Forzen" style twist at the end for an act of true love was quite refreshing. On top of the fact that there weren't too many major movie sins I highly recommend this movie to anyone.

I was surprised when I watched the movie! I found that it was a different story line. Explaining Maleficents side is magical. We don't usually get to hear how things came to be the way they were in the movie. It was nice to have the other side of the story and see how things went through Sleeping Beauty's eyes.

Not only did we watch this movie TWICE in theaters, we set a reminder on our family calendar on release day! This movie is absolutely magnificent! Angelina Jolie plays the part of the main character with such elegance and poise. Completely believable! Even my parents were locked in after the first 10 minutes!

Without giving away the movie, this is a bunch of fun. The visuals and story are really well done. Angelina Jolie is incredible in this, and it makes sense why it was well received and why there is a sequel to the movie.

This is a great movie that explores the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale from the perspective of witch Maleficent. It very cleverly allows us to understand and empathize with Maleficent while staying true to the story we "know" from the Disney's original Sleeping Beauty. Angelina Jolie is amazing in the title role.

Maleficent really takes Sleeping Beauty and provides a twist and really makes you re-think about the old Disney classic. There is always another part of the story. Great story, great acting! I felt really good about the story. Appropriate for younger audience, however, there is one part that is a bit harsh.

Even though everyone is doing takeoffs of all the great early originals in fantasyland,this was of a much more interesting take on the original.it seems to draw you in with its differences,and comes to a heart-warming conclusion.As for Jolie-she played a great part as the villain with a heart.

This movie had me captivated from the beginning to the end. I loved this movie. It actually showed how a good character became evil and the whole movie was about that character's life and it was from her perspective and the way she saw life. Excellent movie it made me cry several times.......

Went into this movie with zero expectations. We're big Disney fans and this looked interesting. It was a very different way to look at the classic Sleeping Beauty story and it held our attention and left us thinking "how would Aurora's adult life have been different?" Overall, a good movie. Family-friendly.

I love this film. I have always loved Maleficent growing up as a child. So when this movie came out I had to see it. I ended up seeing it 7 times in the theaters with different people each time. The DVD doesn't disappoint either. Watch the movie with an open mind, no expectations. It really is a great story

I originally saw this movie in the theater only because it was the opening film of a double feature. However, it is such a great movie, the actors, the cinematography, and storytelling, that I had to buy it on disc. It is a movie I have watched multiple times and I know I will not get tired of watching it.
