I saw this receiver in a Best Buy store as an open box closeout. I already had a great Denon 4200 receiver, but decided to just see if this was better or as good as my Denon.
It was easy to hook up, as I only had to place all of the connections in the same positions. I was expecting to have to use Audyssey to set everything up. To my surprise, everything appeared on the screen automatically, then it practically set itself up.
The performance was so much better than my old Denon. The sound was more vivid and realistic, voices were more clear, just was a clearly better receiver.
I am very happy with this purchase. Yes, it does get hot, as others have mentioned, but............., doesn't matter with this level of performance.
I love it! I am using it to power my KEF LS50's in the front and center, Monitor Audio silver FSX surrounds. I do have an amp for the fronts, but haven't seen a need for it yet.

I bought this receiver to replace a fairly new Yamaha Aventage receiver that had a fatal defect. I was looking at either this or the Denon 4500 but got such a great deal on this I decided to forego the Denon.
Some highlights of this receiver
-The speaker wire tags included in the box are a fantastic touch, especially when you're running all 9 or 11 channels like I am. The included Audyssey tripod was great too.
-The setup menus upon turning the receiver on are VERY thorough. I'm confident a very novice enthusiast could hook up a fairly complicated system based on the initial menus alone.
-The 8 point Audyssey room correction is nice. I would still advise going in and checking and changing results afterward, but it gets you started on the right foot.
-My Yamaha had more of a processed, bright sound. This Marantz has more of a natural, warm sound. It's taken some getting used to, but I really like it.
-Tons of power. Unless you have giant speakers, this thing will throw out all the power you need without using separate amps.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase, aside from some small things like the remote (back lighting would be awesome) and the Marantz app for Android is very clunky. But those are small things. The sound is what matters, and this receiver gets the job done!

This receiver is a great unit especially for the price they're asking $899. Like others have said it has a warm and clear sound, excellent for both movies and music. Also like others have said it can get hot. My solution to this was a "AC Infinity AIRCOM T9" there are other models by AC Infinity too. It's also curved on the corners like the Marantz, a great match! This keeps the Marantz SR6013 completely cool to the touch! You can get these in a front, rear, or top exhaust configuration depending on your particular setup. I wish BB would carry these. This unit is an upgrade from a Denon which I moved to my wife's console. Been a Denon fan for years so this was a gamble for me. Been using this unit for about 6 weeks now and I am a satisfied customer. Best Buy as usual was very helpful in showing this unit's capabilities.

Great AVR

This is my first Marantz AVR, i have owned Yamaha higher end models and Pioneer Elite in the past, this one is replacing Pioneer Elite SC85 (it still works great), Pioneer is great receiver, main two reasons for replacement is, SC85 do not have HDCP 2.2, it was major flaw by Pioneer, back then i did not know what HDCP2.2 implementation will look like, i had to run every 4K equipment to tv and use ARC or optical for audio so AVR was only used for DD on optical , buying HD fury for there inputs (to split signal) was almost $500 plus cost, so i decided to get new AVR, i got this one on sale so pain was less.
First thing i have noticed this AVR runs lot hotter i had to buy a fan (Aircon T8) to keep on top of AVR, as many has suggested, pioneer was never hot even when it use 8-10 hours straight.
Connection:
Very easy to make connection it took me 15 minutes to do 5.2.2 dolby atmos setup, i had to just take it out from SC85 and connect it to this one. all HDMI 4K 18 Gbps cable are used.
Room Calibration:
i think this took me some time may be 20 minutes: it do step by step instruction to make sure speakers are connected properly.
After making connection i went to Laptop to do all the customization as it is lot easier. just type the IP address at which your AVR is connected, i have wired connection, i have not tested wireless performance or setup. After renaming all the inputs, it is time to test performance. I have Sony XF900 75 inch TV, Apple TV 4K, Direct Tv 4K box and Oppo 203 4K player connected to it. speakers are Definitve Tech BP 8000 series and super cube 6000 Subwoofer. DV pass through no problem. i am not using ARC function, Everything is programmed through Logitech harmony remote, Arc function requires activation of CEC which creates mess with activities.
Sound wise it is bit warmer than Sc85, noticeable difference is i hear lot more from Top middle Atmos speaker and surround speakers which was missing from SC85, SC85 do not have DTS X either, i am happy with purchase, warranty is good 3 years, i hope i don't need it,
if you want to keep this in closed cabinet make sure you buy a fan, Aircom is the company who makes excellent fans which sits top on AVR with stop or back exhaust options, you should have opening in cabinet for the heat to get out. one need to have at least 2 to 3 inch gap between top of AVR and shelf. heat is main cause of failure for all electronics, keep AVR cool it will last long time.
BB Store was helpful in having this item secured for pickup at other location.

I have been a long time Pioneer Elite a/v receiver fan. I decided to replace my Pioneer Elite SC63 receiver because it didn't process 4K video. Originally I thought I would simply go with another Elite model. I decided to do some research and talk with Garrett at the Winchester Rd. store in Memphis in the Magnolia Room. He turned me on to listening to the Marantz SR5013, which was very good. He then suggested the SR6013. I was totally blown away with it's power and the separation of the channels. I could hear each individual instrument like they were in the demo studio with us. The SR6013 is fantastic for music, but it really shines when it comes to movies. The powerful surround sound that it provides must be heard to be believed. My next addition will be some Dolby Atmos speakers. It is always a little frightening to install a new a/v receiver, but the SR6013 was super easy and intuitive. If you are looking for the total package for music and movies I highly recommend the SR6013.

I purchased this receiver to replace an older mid-range Denon receiver. I have a large collection of 4k blu ray discs and I wanted to start hearing the enhanced sound features like Dolby Atmos at home. I must say that this receiver is absolutely amazing and has exceeded my expectations. Sound quality is fantastic and my home theater experience has been upgraded to the point where I feel like I have really surpassed the movie theater. Maybe it's just the fact that I can pause for a bathroom break and not miss anything (Avengers)!!! I'm now running a full 11 speaker setup with the addition of an external 2 channel amplifier. One of my favorite features is the Low Frequency Containment (LFC), which you can set to different levels to avoid disturbing your neighbors. This is a perfect solution for me since I live in an apartment. Just for reference I'm using Bowers and Wilkins 685S2 series for left, right and center (HTM6S2) channels. I'm also using B&W 686S2 for rear surround, which I know is complete overkill! I'm using SVS Elevation speakers for front and rear elevation and also side surround. I haven't purchased a subwoofer yet and what I'm hearing is still simply amazing. I'm not saying that a sub isn't necessary, but I have plenty of bass with my current setup and being in an apartment affects that decision. That's another aspect that's so exciting, because I use the LFC without a sub! I can only imagine what it will be like after adding a sub. It blows my mind to be able to hear sound imaging between my side surround and rear speakers. I find myself often rewinding a scene because I can't believe what I'm hearing. The Dolby Neural X mode is great for movies not encoded with Dolby Atmos and upmixes 5.1 and 7.1 formats. I use it on mostly every streaming title such as Netflix and Amazon because it makes use of the elevation speakers. I don't really use my home theater setup for music but I have streamed Tidal and listened to CDs, both of which sound great. Anyway, sorry to write such a long review but I've had this for several months now and I can't say enough good things about it. I still haven't used all of the features of this receiver, but I'm super happy that I made this purchase.

Over the past 4 years I've gone from a Yamaha RX-480 to a Yamaha Aventage A770 to this Marantz SR6013. This was due to moving house and slowly moving from a 5.1 system to a 7.2.2 config. Obviously, theres quite a jump in retail price between the three, but this Marantz is so much better. Over the years I've owned 3 Yamaha amps and all of them have been reliable and great and I do recommend them, but this Marantz is in another league. I have always found the vocals in movies on the Yamaha's to be a little unclear. This means I tended to turn up the volume. This would result in more noise in the house and annoy the rest of the family. The Marantz does not have this issue. The vocals are clear and the sound is warm and natural. I use this amp for playing movies with DTS-X/Dolby Atmos sound and listening to music either via Apple Airplay 2 on my iPhone or from my Marantz CD5005 CD player. This is a great product and I highly recommend it. The only single issue I read about and can confirm is that this gets hot. My Yamaha amps never felt hot but this Marantz does get real hot on the top right. I figured that if this was a big issue we would have heard about it by now. Great price from Best Buy because the newer SR6014 is about to hit the shelves.

I had an all SVS 7.2 Surround System anchored by SVS PB13 and PC-4000 subwoofers. The weak point was my seven year old Onkyo TXNR717. The SR-6013 is crystal clear and the room correction is first class. Really nice.

There are others out there and I’ve used several, but the Marantz receivers are top of my list.
This I bought to biamp my brand new set of Bowers and Wilkins bookshelf speakers, center channel and some in ceiling speakers for added surround sound.
The difference from the Pioneer receiver was night and day. Studio monitors are what I listen to regukarly in my line of work and the Marantz was able to process the digital signal to an analog signal that sounded transparent and silky.
Plenty of power to keep up with movies and rowdy parties too.

I upgraded from the onkyo txrz610 to the SR013 & what a huge difference in SQ for 4k movies & 2.0. I'm running Fluance Signature Series Home Theater & Fluance DB12 dual 12" subs plus SVS Atmos among other components & this Marantz puts out plenty of power, easy to use & hook up,

I did a ton of research before purchasing this unit, because of my previous bad experience with a Denon. I learned that Denon and Marantz merged years ago, but Marantz maintained it’s legacy. I have yet to push my Marantz 6013 anywhere close to it’s limits, but so far I am pleased with the clarity of sound and ease of setup. I chose this Marantz over the Denon AVR-4500. The Denon receivers are notoriously bad about losing HDMI handshake, which is caused by overheating. I will update this review upon more use.

I have had this unit for a little over a year now.
It has performed flawlessly, but it does run hot.
I put a cooling fan on top (which looks great actually!) and that has been helpful.
The app is VERY useful, I use it more than the remote actually.
This is driving a fairly small load for what it is capable of since my main speakers are being pushed by a outboard Crown amp.
Sound quality has been fantastic, I would buy it again.

This receiver is so awesome! I upgraded from the Sony 770 and let me tell you, night and day difference. ALL the different sound level adjustments it has is superb, the fake atmos it does is excellent (working with a 5.1 setup until I get the clear to get more speakers). For 899 you can't get much better! I love the curved front (So classy) I love how I can controll ALL the adjustments on the tv and not have to use the app like cheaper receivers.

I’ve been wanting to update my receiver for the past four years and finally broke down and picked up this Marantz SR6013. It has plenty of power for my 5.0.4 surround system. My five channel speakers are Martin Logan’s and this receiver powers them nicely as well as my 4 height speakers. Watching a movie with nine speakers surrounds the room nicely. Remote is very basic, so I mainly control receiver with IPad and the Marantz App. Bluetooth is excellent as well as the internet connectivity, (SiriusXM and TuneIn). As far as the video Up scaling, not too bad. Hooked up my old VCR to it and video wasn’t too bad, but it’s video tape. Does a pretty good job staying cool unlike some of those Yamaha and Pioneer Receivers. So overall very please with this receiver.

Had purchased the Marantz 6013 but returned it after a week for a Yamaha 3080. The Yamaha Is easier to set up and sounds better. Was going to try the 2080 but the price was reduced on the 3080 so I bought it instead. Would recommend Yamaha.

In terms of the quality of the video and sound, this receiver will not disappoint! Marantz makes products that are much better than the competition. But the app and the cost detract a little from the overall experience.
