It's a bit more difficult to set up and get started than the page indicates. It requires about 6 apps be downloaded onto the tablet -- it works well with an iPad. Those are free apps, but there are languages you can add by downloading more apps for a few dollars each. There are clear instructions, but this is not something a 4 or 8 year old can do out of the box for themselves. However, watching an adult (who is well versed in app setups) cookbook through this process could be very instructive to children. This is a quality time, Sunday Morning, family project. After a week, the children were drilling down into the software and finding interesting things that were fun to learn by themselves. The physical letters become less important as the software is learned. I would say, this toy is not an essential component of every household raising children, but it is a harbinger of what education will be like when these children are raising their children.

This is an awesome way to teach my toddler her letters and numbers! My kid loves this and the app are lots of fun!

I honestly bought this thinking I'd be returning it because my daughter wouldn't enjoy it- but she loves it. She's 3 and it's amazing to watch her enjoy "learning" without realizing that it's educational.
