Mario Kart 7 was the best Mario kart. It introduced customized car and also new driving condition. Mario kart 8 carried that and gave us a brand new experience on Wii u. Overall, it is a great game. Graphics is great and very detailed. I loved to use the gamepad to play because it gave a very solid feeling unlike playing Mario kart wii few years ago. All tracks are beautiful redesigned and also instroduced gravity. The value is great especially with all the promotion. Highly recommended for all wii u owner. The only downside is multiplayer. I expected I can see my own screen on my gamepad and their others can see the whole screen on a TV..but this is not the case.

Ok, I'll admit it. . . . . .I enjoy playing this also! Took me a couple of races to figure it out, but now I can challenge my kids and we have a great time! Good game, great graphics!

This is such a fun game to play with 2 people - you could probably play with more, but we have the 2 steering wheels and it is a BLAST! If you get top scores you open more races.

I've enjoyed playing Mario Kart ever since it was released on SNES. Every release added something new that made it better each generation. The Wii release was fun, but the one thing that was lacking, especially with the PS3 and XBOX 360 around at the time, was HD graphics. Now all the Nintendo/MK fans can do cartwheels and tweet in celebration because we finally have HD eye candy to go with the awesome game play. The game is so fun, I have recommended that people by a Wii U just so they can play it. The new additions are fun, but the best thing is how the replay value is really high because you can purchase DLC on the Wii U eshop.

Visuals-The game looks gorgeous especially considering it is not native 1080p though because of this jaggies are occasionally noticeable (PC gamer background) Gameplay- It's likely the best Mario Kart I have ever played. Best visuals hands down. Vehicles and items seem more fair and balanced than previous titles. Consistent 60fps up to 2 player split screen but anything more than that during local multiplayer will drop frame rate to 30fps. There are also a wide variety of game controls supported and all of them work well from my experience. Wii mote and nunchuck are my preferred method. Registering the game with Club Nintendo online before July 31st will allow you to redeem an offer for 1 of 4 wii u games to download free of charge. (the Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros Wii U, and Wii Party U) Sound- Having live instruments instead of electronic music sounds great but some compression in comparison to other wii u titles is noticeable to anyone who is somewhat an audiophile. The music itself is catchy and pleasing to the ears. cons- Not a big deal to me but there is no voice chat during online races, only during the lobby. Jaggies can be seen due to the lack of Anti Aliasing and the game not being native 1080p. None of the issues with the game kept me from enjoying the game. Also having a free download of 1 of those 4 games was a great deal.

This just became my kids' favorite WiiU game. Sick HD graphics. Tons of new characters and courses. Just an incredible update to an already awesome Mario game. Hats off, Nintendo.

Works great as a party game. Lots of characters and different tracks to try out. All controller configurations work as well.

Mario Kart 8 includes a good number of race tracks with more available as DLC, if you want to expand your experience. Multiplayer is also available as well as online play.

I've been playing since MK64, and can say without a doubt that this is the best release yet. Tons of tracks, DLC, amazing graphics and gameplay. Link. I think that's enough.

Really fun game we worth the money. Amazing maps, spot on perfect controls. Nothing to complain about with this one. Love the multiplayer and single player. Really pretty game.

If you love Mario Kart, you should already have this game. If you like Mario Kart, you need to get this game. Some other complaints include a strange roster, which is fair, but you'll find more than enough characters to love and forget about it. The kart customization can be confusing for newer players, but it's initially set to all the standard pieces, so selecting that is easy. Battle Mode was initially a big disappointment, but I've been able to have fun with it and am happy it's back to 3 balloon survival mode. Overall, I've had a lot of fun with the game, and it's been a long time since I literally played a game all day.

Great game with solid controls and graphics. Easy to learn and difficult to master. Online works quick and flawlessly. A good 4 player game for a group of friends.

Mario Kart racing finally in HD. Great tracks and characters to unlock. The only thing lacking is a subpar online system with the Nintendo Network connection.

Mario Kart 8 is the absolute best addition to the "kart" series of Mario. Nintendo did a great time adding new power-ups while keeping the gameplay balanced. The game runs at 720p @ 60 frames-per-second during single-player and 2-player games. It drops to 30 frames-per-second when adding more than 2 players to a game; which is pretty impressive granted the limitations of the Wii U's hardware and the graphical fidelity of Mario Kart 8. You will have endless fun playing alone, with friends, or online with the Wii U community. Highly recommended, you can't lose with this purchase.

If you're a fan of Mario Kart, you will love this. It's all the same fun you know and love, with the addition of HD graphics and new gameplay elements like being able to drive up walls and float with a parachute through sections of the courses. Playing with the Wii Wheel is my preferred method, and with this setup, the Wii U Gamepad serves as a second screen showing the course layout and position of racers which is great because it leaves more open space on the TV. The bottom line - if you like Mario Kart, you should buy this. You and your friends will thoroughly enjoy it.

Great game as expected. I like how you can now play online with your friends. Some new twists but same overall game. Play old tracks from other systems- Wii, gamecube, n64, ds & 3ds- & some new tracks. Only 2 players can play online together on the same Wii u which is fine but I wish they would make the game pad & tv both full screen then. Single player can play with regular controller or gamepad but as far as we can tell if playing multiplayer 1 person has to use the game pad. We love the fact that the family can watch tv still while 1 person plays on the game pad still.

If you have loved any of the previous Mario Karts then this one will not disappoint, it has all the old feel of the previous games, yet adds flight and anti-gravity to the mix! Need I say more? The one regret in the game play is that you can't drag a shell and gain another as before... but other than that... AWESOME! Family fun for all plus online competition is available! BONUS: If you register the game before the end of June, you get a FREE digital game (Pikmin 3, Super Mario U, Zelda, or Party U) They each carry a $50 retail so get this ASAP!!! Even the wife loves it!
