Great features and comfort! App needs work...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Monitor III headphones from Marshall sound great but take some getting used to. I had been using some JBL headphones that I thought sounded great, so when I first put these on, I was underwhelmed. I went back and forth between the two and tweeked the equalizer settings a lot. After getting used to the Marshall headphones, what I thought sounded rich and full on the JBL, was in fact more muddled. The Marshall's have much more clarity to them and now I prefer them more. Hopefully Marshall will update the app, as it's pretty disappointing. The equalizer only has 5 bands to adjust and very few presets. They are best for music, not tv. There are no movie modes or voice boost modes. I do really like the design of these headphones. The materials and textures are quite nice. The ear cups are so soft. They are a bit slimmer than others and extremely comfortable! (also very lightweight) The control knob is a great way to control the headphones, very easy to learn and use. I can't speak to battery life yet as they haven't needed charging yet but 80 hours is pretty outstanding. Having a case for travel is nice but I would also like a stand for them to live on at home, I'll have to look for one. After some break in time, these are some great headphones.

Great Noise Cancelling Headphones!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Marshall - Monitor III A.N.C. Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones are a great set of headphones. I am thoroughly enjoying them with every use. I've tested these out and have the following observations: - In the box, you get the headphones, a USB-C Charging cable, a USB-C to 3.5mm audio cord, a Quick Start Guide and a Hardcase. - The Monitor III's are a nice looking set of headphones, black with gold logos and control knob. They are very lightweight, but also feel solid and well-made. - The Hardcase is very nice. It has a hard outer shell with a velvet lining and pocket for the cords. The headphones fold up very small to fit in the case. It is one of the smallest cases I've seen for over-the-ear headphones and will be convenient for my carry-on luggage. - The ear pieces are a very soft material and they are super comfortable to wear. I've worn them for an entire day while working and they feel great. - They were easy to set up and connect. The Bluetooth connection to my phone was quick. Then download the Marshall Bluetooth App and follow the instructions to do a firmware update and walk through the settings and instructions for the various features available through the App. - While you can just use them straight out of the box to connect to your phone or music source, the App is very useful to do some one-time set up and choose various options. The App shows the percent of battery life left; you can set the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) level and the transparency volume; you can choose between 6 different equalizer settings - Marshall Signature Sound, Custom, Bass Boost, Mid Boost, Treble Boost and Mid Reduction; with the Custom equalizer setting you can adjust the 5-band equalizer to create the sound you want; you can toggle on/off Adaptive Loudness; you can set which combination of the three ANC settings you want the on-ear ANC mode button to toggle between - ANC, Transparency and Off; you can choose which action setting you want the on-ear M Button to control - Spotify Tap, toggle between 2 equalizer settings - the Marshall Signature Sound and one other EQ setting of your choice, Soundstage, voice assistant, or Do Nothing; you can set the Room Size and amount for the Soundstage option; you can toggle on/off the interactions sounds for ANC prompts; you can turn on/off the auto-play/pause when the headphones are worn or taken off; you can choose a battery preservation mode and level; and you can select the standby timeout mode and the time until they turn off when not used or the timeout length when not connected. There are a lot of great features available in this App that allow you to customize the Monitor III's however you like to use them. - The ANC feature is great. It really cuts out all the background noise and doesn't impact the quality of sound when in use at all. It is nice to have an ANC button on the earpiece that allows you to toggle between ANC and transparent mode, as it makes it quick to click on the button and be able to hear noises around you when necessary, or switch back to ANC. - There are a total of three controls on the headphones. The control knob that allows you to power on/off, play/pause, forward, reverse, answer and disconnect calls, adjust volume and put in pairing mode, the ANC button explained above, and the customizable M-button which you can choose for an action from the list mentioned in the description of the App above. These on-ear controls are easy to find and use when wearing the headphones. - Of course the most important thing with headphones is the sound. The sound is incredible! I've tested them out with all kinds of music - loud, soft, acoustic, female and male singers, instrumental, and various genres of music. It all sounds great! Plus with the ability to set custom equalizer settings, you can really adjust it to the sound you like best. I like a heavy, deep bass, and the bass is excellent in these headphones. - The battery life is also excellent, with up to 70 hours of playback on a full charge. The Marshall Monitor III's are a great set of headphones, with excellent sound, a useful App with many customizable features, and a terrific design that allows them to fold into a small hardcase for travel. I am really enjoying these new headphones and highly recommend them!

Marshall finally pumped out a great set of cans!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been trying different Marshall headsets for a number of years and I always wanted to like them. Why? Because the build quality is always there and I could see the potential. I mean their Amps and other gear are standards in the music industry. Wouldn't it make sense the headphones would be really good? I have speakers and they have been good, but I guess I had a high bar? For these Monitor III ANC over the ears, this is about as great as one can. I have one real nitpick on it overall, but I still recommend it. I am no audiophile, but I do enjoy clear music with a punch of bass. I need to know the bass is present whenever it calls for it. For these cans, I the box was surprisingly small and I found out why. These twist into a small eggshell type of case. I prefer a more flat case but in this form, I can forgive it because it packs away easily and well. Another thing, the case has the pebbled leather texture and that transfers to the headphones as well. The headband as well! Getting back to the case, it is well made, has a red vevelt cloth to make it feel like you are taking an instrument out of it's case. It's really cool in my opinion. The headphones come with the very short charging cable along with a 3.5MM to USB C cable. I was excited for a minute to maybe hope that these would plug in the headphones with the 3.5mm side, but no. It's USBC on the headphone, so you would need a 3.5mm jack to use that. The feel and look is right where it needs to be in relation to the retail price. The gold lettering looks premium as does every other element on the headphone. The main button, which is like a rocker button controls the power, volume, and track advancement or back and it has been a joy to use! It's been a whirlwind of taps or swipes on the headphones or maybe small buttons on the side, but this rocker button is it's best feature! Yes there are two other buttons on the read side, where the left is the ANC on/off button that can be configured a little bit and the right rear button can be used as a button or shortcut to spotify or amazon, which can be configured in the really well done app. I am using a Pixel 9 on the latest Android beta software and most works. I say most because for me at this time, maybe software updates will fix this is the auto off feature when you remove the headset. Normally there's a visible sensor in one of the cups, but I have not seen it on these. So I have had sporatic issues with that feature. I have seen where other users said it didn't work at all, where, mine would work if I would start and pause the music using the headphones first using a button. Then the auto off feature works as it should. Next the equalizer is always a welcomed feature when companies gives us a way to listen to how we each want to. I do prefer a clear vocals with a bit of bass, so I usually opt for bass boost and that takes care of it my requirement. However, I have tried the Marshall setting and that brings more warmth to the vocals than just a bass boost. So for the most part of my listening, I have used the Marshall setting and I have been enjoying my time using these headphones so far. The battery life is outrageous! I mean I haven't charged it since my initial full charge and it's still pretty charged up. The range is impressive as well. I have my phone in the living room and I have been around my house and outside the backyard patio and the connection has been solid. No skips or hesitation at all. The ear cushions are very soft, a bit too soft for me, but they are comfortable. Again a subjective preference! I prefer ear cups to be memory foam firm and soft rather than be just mush upon touching the foam cups. For these, they are on the smooshie side! Not my preference, but good. As for the ANC, it is pretty well done in my opinion. It's the best ANC I have to date and I have a few mid range models of over the ear that I normally use. However, not these are in the stable, it will be used in my travels for a while now. I think they got pretty much every right for me to enjoy this for a long time. Well done!

Can't say enough good things about these
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give these headphones a solid 11 out of 10. Blown away is an understatement. These are the most comfortable and best fitting set of headphones I have put on my head in my entire 35+ years of life. As soon as I opened the package and felt the leather material and saw the vivid red lining of the protective case, I knew these were going to be over the top. I've had some marshall earbuds before and those were nice but these are just a cut above the rest. The cushions on the ears are so soft and conform to your head like a soft pillow. The padding on the head band piece is nice without being huge and bulky like some others I have tried. These swivel and move so smoothly that you can find your perfect fit with next to zero effort. These charged quick, and hold a charge for longer than I expected with the performance. Usually if headphones sound well or have good noise reduction/cancelling then you are draining battery faster than you'd like. I didn't have that issue with these and the sound quality works amazing with everything. These have become my go to for music/movies and podcasts. The only thing I don't use them for is when I clean so they don't get sweaty/dirty or covered in dust etc. I love the protective case for tossing these in a bag when I'm on the go. I just can't recommend these enough if you want solid sound quality with the most comfortable materials and build I've run across yet.

Great Sound and Customizability, lackluster ANC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So first, I want to state that I think this is a 4.5 star product, but I don't think that this deserves a 4 star rating. The main reason being the ANC, which I will delve into later. But overall, the Marshall Monitor III is a solid over the ear headphone that produces incredible sound on a large sounding sound stage with great highs, mids and a booming bass. Setting up the headphones was a little bit of a problem, I will chalk that up to being a brand new product and buggy firmware. When I first set up the headphones, the app bugged out during the pairing process so I had to force close the app and remove the bluetooth device from my iPhone and restart the whole process. Second time was a charm. Also after the first initial setup, the app had issues finding my headphones, but I haven't had that issue since after that. The sound quality on these headphones is quite impressive. For having the name "monitor" in the product, you would naturally expect a very flat, neutral response with high fidelity sound allowing you to hear every detail of the music you are listening to. Well I am glad to say that Marshall has stayed true to that name of "monitor" type headphones, and even the style themselves is reminiscent of a monitor style headphone you would use in a recording studio. But don't let the "flat" response turn you off. The app offers a customizable EQ which is extremely useful to balancing the sound to your ears. Besides the EQ feature, Marshall has something called a virtual soundstage which is meant to be a type of spatial audio competitor to Airpods. I really like this virtual sound stage feature, I set mine to a large room at 30% and it adds just enough depth and spatial awareness without being overbearing. The fact you can choose the room size and the percentage of how much it is mixed into your music is amazing, allowing you to fine tune the sound stage and give a much bigger presence to your music. Along with great audio quality, the battery life is phenomenal, 15 minutes of charge time will give you 10 hours of playback and you can listen to these for 60 hours with a full charge. Now the ANC.... I just don't think it is that great. I was on a flight from EWR-DXB recently and tried these out. The ANC was just OK. I had it on the maximum setting but could still hear the couple behind me having a full conversation! So then I popped in my Airpods Pro, and sad to say, but the ANC on those was much better than these. I am not saying the ANC is terrible, but for this price point and product, it should be better. It got the job done on the flight, but it left more to be desired. This is why I am knocking off half a star, it almost was a full star but... possibly better firmware can address it in the future, maybe not. All in all, these are fantastic sounding headphones, and if you are an audiophile, you will enjoy listening to music hours on end with them. They are very small and convenient for traveling with the included case, offer great battery life, a great app to customize the headphones, but the ANC leaves the heart wanting more.

LOVE them!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Monitor III A.N.C. Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-The-Ear headphones from Marshall are pretty much exactly what I've wanted for a while now. As an admittedly rabid fan of their Major IV On-Ear headphones, I had high expectations for the Monitor III model and I was NOT disappointed. I've got quite a few sets of wireless headphones I switch between on a regular basis. Some are dedicated to specific types of music because they excel particularly with a specific genre. If I know I'm going to be listening to a variety of genres though, or I'm going on a trip and only want to take one pair with me, my Major IV headphones have been my goto. They offer very good performance for just about everything. They now, however, will play second fiddle to the Monitor III. Historically, when given the choice, most of the time I've opted for over-the-ear headphones. They just offer better noise cancelling overall and the Monitor III are no exception. But then when you start to add Marshall's excellent noise cancellation and transparency modes, you realize what a game changer you've got. When I first got these, there was a lot of construction going on in my neighborhood. Specifically, a lot of jackhammering. Putting the headphones on in transparency mode took a lot of that noise away. Just having them on with no ANC whatsoever took away even more. Turning on ANC eliminated it COMPLETELY! As someone who works from home I can't tell you how big a win this was for me. Many of the ANC headphones I have will only completely eliminate background noise for me if I also have some music playing. Not these! I really like being able to have them on with ANC turned on and without music since it allows me to really concentrate on what I'm working on and not be distracted when one of my favorite songs pops up. Regarding music, I must say, I love how these sound. They take everything I love about the Major IVs and add to it. I've noticed more overall detail. I mean, for orchestral pieces, I can eve hear when the musicians are turning pages! The only thing I did notice that I was surprised by is that they don't seem to get as loud as the Major IVs. When I'm listening to metal or prog rock I tend to really crank it. I know it's probably for the best and definitely protects my hearing, but sometimes, ya know, you just wanna let's rip. Overall though I have no real complaints. They do everything that I want all in package with great battery life. Including the USB-C-to-3.5mm jack cable is really nice too. 5 stars!

Amazing headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Marshall has done it again. I am familiar with Marshall products as I have a pair of the in the ear type Bluetooth earbuds and I have the small Emberton Bluetooth speaker, both of which I enjoy and use frequently. The app has been updated and has a little more customization to it. I really like that you can set your own custom EQ now or bypass it and use either the Bluetooth device or a third party app. First, the headphones are top notch quality. The zip around case has the leather texture we have come to know on Marshall products. Inside has a velvet like material that cups and cushions the headphones. The headphones also have the leather material and the cushions are plush and super comfy. They do get hot if you are moving around, however. The band is also very comfy but I was worried at first they would be stiff. Pairing is easy, the gold solid button puts into pairing mode, open your Bluetooth, select Monitor III and the app picks the product right up. It will do a firmware update and you are off and running. I set up a custom rock EQ and starting streaming from iHeart. Again, like previous reviews, if you don't have the paid setting, the quality is not as loud and good but these still sound amazing. I moved on to stored music and they really start to shine. I had to turn them down one notch as the quality of the stream improved. Now, here is where these headphones almost became my favorite. I used a third party EQ/amp and the sound I was looking for came right through and the fullness/loudness came full circle. I now played my music at 75% volume and these things just crunch and sound awesome! Bass is a little (very little) lacking but then again, I wasn't looking for rap style bass. These are super light to wear, you won't get fatigued wearing them and they stay on pretty good when you are headbanging LOL. I love the old school look (wires showing), quality is top notch and the sound is pure Marshall! Almost forgot, the ANC is right up there with the best. I would not say perfect but you do not get that sucked out feeling. I had to test them because I did not think it was working, but I was wrong. Finally, the other button on the right side can be customized to your liking. I used it to switch EQ settings and they are built right into the hinge of the can portion. Like I said, very high quality and I highly recommend!

Solidly built, effective ANC and great sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Marshall's latest over-ear cans are a treat! The first thing you'll notice about the Monitor III headphones is the overall build quality. Although I feel they are a touch heavy, the actual construction and attention to detail is impressive. The phones offer the now familiar, origami-like, collapsible design that allows them to fit into the included hard sided clamshell case. There is enough room for a dedicated pocket to hold the provided cables too. The earcups offer plush padded linings and are comfortable to wear. I do think that you might have a little trouble fitting them on if you have especially large ears though! Adjusting the band to fit over your head is very easy and there is a generous amount of expansion. The padding on the top of the headband is adequate although I wish it was a little bit wider. Marshall's app was a cinch to install and has a nice selection of controls and options to customize your listening experience. I was able to update the headphone's firmware with no trouble through the app as well. Blue tooth connection is quick and easy and I have experienced no dropouts even when wandering around the house. I've used the headphones to listen to a wide variety of both standard def and HD streaming music and video content. After fine tuning the equalizer I've enjoyed the experience very much. After a brief getting-acquainted period I was able to control the headphones via the mounted 4D joystick quite easily. Media playback control and calling controls all work without a hitch. Marshall has clearly spent some effort on the Noise Cancellation (A.N.C.) feature and I find it to be very effective. You can set the level for the effect in the app and then engage/disengage it with a single button press. There is also a "compromise" option called transparency that allows you to blend in some outside sound if needed. Marshall claims a 10 hour battery life. I have yet to exhaust the battery and I find that it charges relatively quickly also. Overall I enjoy these headphones and recommend that add them to your short list if your shopping!

Not So Great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exceptionally flimsy pair of headphones. They did not sync to my phone’s Bluetooth even after I charged them (thinking that was the problem). There are external coiled wires which look out of place, and the construction overall seems cheap. I tried on other brands of over-ear style headphones without thinking this badly of any but the Marshalls. Would not recommend!

Beautiful sound, great noise canceling and battery
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Marshall - Monitor III A.N.C. Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones - Black, does what Marshall has always been known for, and that is reproduce beautiful sound with solid bass, articulate highs, punchy mids, with very low distortion. The headphones do all of that and more! The Noise Cancelling feature works really great for blocking out fan noise, traffic sounds, AC hums, and other unwanted sounds. Also great about the noise cancelling is by blocking out the background noise, my music sounded better than ever... I could here the plucks of the guitar strings, and melodies and soft instruments that I never even knew were in certain songs. And I was also able to keep the volume turned down and still feel all the impact of the music thanks to such a quiet sound stage. The headphones come with a nice hard carry case, that also holds an included C to C charging cable, and a USB C to 1/8" TRS headphone jack so you can plug these directly into your music player for even cleaner sound for those that don't like to use wireless compression. The headphones charged up in a couple of hours, and the battery life is up to 70 hours so you don't have to worry about them cutting off in the middle of your plane ride etc.. The Marshall app for your phone unlocks extra settings and EQ's and a user customizable EQ setting as well. The only downside I found with these is the fit, and that might just be something about my head. I found the headband kept trying to twist on my head due to the band having memory of being twisted to fit into the carry case. Also I found the earpieces to be rotated slightly to far back for my ears, but if I rotated them forward the band was over my forehead instead of the top of my head like it should be. I also found the clamping force to be to soft for using them while running, working out, doing chores, or otherwise moving around... if I looked up or down they would try to slide off my head. They work great when I sit at my desk, or in my chair etc... but I have a nice surround system and a nice speaker set up at my desk, so I don't really need headphones at those places, I'd much rather wear them while moving around but then I have to constantly adjust them and push them back into place... otherwise they would be perfect.

Iconic look, feel, sound, and quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Marshall Monitor III ANC headphone really live up to the iconic brand’s look and, most importantly, reputation for quality. Even starting out with the custom clam shell case that the headphones come in, it’s very “rock & roll”. With the nostalgic look and feel of the Marshall amps and a plush, red velvet interior to hold the headphones and cables. The headphones themselves also have that textured look and feel of the amps and one of the huge positive of this design is that it’s not going to show scratches the way something just plastic would. Speaking of cables, one nick against the Marshall Monitor III headphones is that it does NOT come with a 3.5mm audio jack for pass through listening on a plane, or anywhere else listening through a jack is necessary or preferred. While it does come with a decent length USB-C to 3.5mm cable, in order to use it, the headphones must be powered on, whereas on other higher end headphones I own, the jack does indeed exist on the headphones and work without being powered on. Other than the lack of the 3.5mm jack though, I love everything about the Marshalls; the comfort is better than every other headphones I have ever owned; the pillows on your ears are super soft yet still give a really good seal. The length of the headband is just right. The overall lightness of the headphones really adds to the comfort over a long session of wearing. The battery life on the Marshall Monitor III’s is simply insane; 70 to 100 hours depending on your use of noise canceling is advertised, and I believe it. How often are you going to even be in a situation where you can’t recharge over the course of 3 to 4 days? I used these for a full week at work on and off and they were still going strong. I charged them up Friday night and then used them all weekend, where they really shined. This is where I need to talk about what I consider it’s best and most important feature, the Automatic Noise Canceling. I recently took the headphones to Buffalo Wild Wings where I watch my favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. Our local BWW has 40+ televisions with every NFL game and any other sports event all playing simultaneously, however they only have the audio for the Tennessee Titans as I live in Jackson, Tennessee. I put on the Marshall headphones, listen to the Vikings broadcast on IHeartRadio with the noise canceling enabled, and even at just 1/3rd volume, the game broadcast was crystal clear and the background noise was all but a dull, muffled murmur. I could not be more impressed. The main control for the headphones is a gold joystick on the right ear; up and down for volume, left and right for skipping forward and back through songs. In phone mode, push in on the button once to answer a call, or twice to reject it. You also have an ANC button which you can use to turn ANC on, off, or passthrough of ambient sound. Finally, there’s a “Marshall” M button which you can customize through the app for accessing Spotify, or your voice assistant, or the equalizer settings, or turn “Soundstage” mode on and off. Soundstage is an interesting feature where you adjust the room size from small to extra large, and the amount of the effect from 0 to 100 percent in 10 percent increments. The feature seems to adjust reverb and bass to where, yes, you actually feel like the music is being played in a different sized area; I personally find the Large size room set to 50% to be most pleasing to my ears, but it’s worth experimenting with. These are premium priced headphones, but you truly do get what you pay for here. If you do find that you need to use the USB-C to 3.5mm jack, just make sure they are charged up and it won’t be a problem. For all other uses though, these are absolutely outstanding headphones, whether you’re listening to talk radio, music, or talking on the phone using the integrated microphone. The Marshall Monitor III’s check all the boxes for me; superior noise canceling, Amazing, customizable sound, and stupendous comfort even when wearing for hours. I therefore give these an enthusiastic 5 star rating, and would recommend them to anyone who takes their music seriously.

They look and sound great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Marshall Monitor 3 are a very nice pair of noise cancelling headphones. They fit comfortably on my head. I do have to say that you can tell feel them on your head. Not a bad thing but they are not like other headphones where the goal is for you to not be able to tell you are wearing headphones. I really enjoy the compact nature when not using them. They fold up to just the earpiece size. The case they come with is also high quality and should help maintain the materials These headphones are made of. I enjoy the material. The noise cancelling feature works. I have no complaints about it. I have not taken these on an airplane so I can't tell you how well they do in that environment. Going back to how small the case and headphones are when stored. They can easily fit in any bag, purse, backpack. They do not take up a lot of room if traveling with over the ear headphones is something you do often. The sound quality is good. Bass is solid. Soundstage is clear. They did a good job. I would recommend these headphones to others. I would say these headphones sound well for what they are. After wearing them for an hour or so I was still ok with having them on. Look great, sound great, are comfortable.
