we are not all that happy with the sound bar. it did not improve the sound from the tv as much as we thought it should for the cost

This was a gift for my 40th birthday. The Martin Logan Motion Vision sound bar is a dream come true. I have been wanting surround sound for years, but without the hassle of wires. Unfortunately, the first sound bar I got actually seemed defective. The menu would not stay open and let me adjust many settings. I contacted Martin Logan's technical support. They are friendly and did their best to help me through resetting the sound bar to factory state. This did not work. It was like there was something going on that was beyond being able to be fixed by a factory reset. Martin Logan's support did not realize this at the time. It turns out the sound bar actually had a short in it, causing the menu to not remain open. It took me a while to figure that out after I had contacted them. I decided to return it to Best Buy. Best Buy looked at it and agreed that it had a short. They were very cooperative about working with me on an exchange. This was faster and easier than trying to send it back to Martin Logan. The second sound bar works perfectly and the sound seems to be coming from all around me and not just in front of me even though the sound bar is at the front of the room. There's nothing like beautiful sound coming from a top-notch audio device to go with my Blu-ray movies on the HD TV. Highly recommended!!!

The soundbar bar for the most part is ok. The remote is the worst I've ever used. You need to be very close to the unit to get it to work. The sound goes off during quiet parts of programs making for uneven viewing.For $800 I was expecting more.

I throughly researched this soundbar before purchasing. Prior to this I briefly had a Def Tech setup with 8020's and their 8040CS. It was a nice setup but I wanted something more streamlined since moving into an apartment. I was tired of making adjustments on my Yamaha Adventage and the primary listening area was limited since I could only place the speakers 4 feet apart. This soundbar solved everything, a wider sound field, satisfying full sound for music and tv, very impressive bass response and overall simplicity. The sound is exceptional as is the build quality. The one thing I am so disappointed in is the remote. Martin Logan how could you pair such a cheap remote with such an impressive piece of equipment? I mean the remote is so bad it actually stopped working within a couple of hours. I called Martin Logan, they will replace it but the build quality is shameful for such a well crafted soundbar. If you want to experience 5.1 you will need to run an optical from your cable box. You will also notice that the volume is substantially lower than when it is set to stereo. Listening to music is amazing, so clear and balanced. Martin Logan congratulations on one of the best sounding soundbars. I just don't understand what you were thinking pairing it with such a low quality remote. That is my only disappointment.
