This is the first MartinLogan audio product that I have experience with and I was extremely impressed. At first glance you may think that a set-up that is smaller than most surround sound systems might under perform. But that was certainly not the case with this speaker system. Pros: - Top notch performance for both music and movies. The audio quality was fantastic as I was able to hear every small detail of audio on the movies I watched. And listening to music almost seemed like the high quality audio experience that you get when you are wearing the best quality headphones, allowing you to hear incredible detail in the performance. - The magnetic speaker covers are a nice touch. - The color, style, and high end craftsmanship of the system sets it apart from other speaker systems that typically use cheaper materials to keep production cost down. - The 5 year parts and labor warranty is almost unheard of. You can buy this system knowing that you have a safety net for a long time if anything were to go wrong. That is very comforting when spending on a high-end system like this. Cons: - While I personally love the style of these speakers, they will not necessarily mesh with every living room design in my opinion. The speakers may stand out and not fit in with less modern environments. - The price could be considered a drawback, but you get what you pay for! If you want high quality, a terrific warranty, and it is in your budget, spending the extra dollars is worth it.

So the sound quality is really great, especially for music. It could be clear for movies and commentary, but it’s not bad. Martin Logan speakers are generally really Chris. Luckily I got these on sale. So they were definitely worth the price that I paid.

the good: - sound quality - This was a tough one to characterize for me. The sound quality is quite good, certainly beyond what their small size would suggest, but for me there was something missing. I did some A/B listening tests placing these on top of my favorite bookshelf speakers, which are quite a bit bigger. Highs were very similar, which is to say they are quite good. What I eventually realized was that mids weren’t missing, but just a bit “thinner” than what I’m used to. That being said, after listening to these for an extended time you probably wouldn’t notice. Very nice spatial presentation of instruments, ultimately only showing the limitations of a small speaker cabinet at higher volumes. - design - Very small and stylish, with quite a bit more sound coming out of them than you’d expect. the bad: - sub clarity - The single biggest weakness for me with this set. I found the sub to be somewhat muddy, which is much more pronounced in higher sub frequencies. There’s certainly plenty of power for its size, but it still sounds like a separate oomph oomph instead of just the lower frequencies of one cohesive sound. I suspect they saved a bit of money on the subwoofer driver/voice coil with some materials that produce a slower response, contributing to the muddiness. misc: - In terms of balance, mids could be more present, but this may not be a huge issue to most listeners. overall: - Overall, this is a solid offering at a decent price point for MartinLogan. Mids and highs are tight and accurate, with mids being slightly recessed to my ear. Low end is strong, albeit a bit on the muddy side. At full MSRP I’d give it a 3.5, but since it’s currently on a pretty good sale it's a fair value. 4 stars.

I am rating these as average simply because one of the speakers has static on it after only a year and a half. Best Buy will not do anything to help me get it repaired or replaced. That being said, I feel like these are overpriced for what you get.

Fantastic Home Theater for the size!

I heard this system at my local Magnolia store, and was blown away at the sound quality, especially for how small the speakers are! The subwoofer blended very well with the speakers, and the center channel was crisp and clear. All of the mounting brackets were included in the box. I compared this system to a few others in the room, and thought this was the best. They sound awesome for movies, but I also listen to a ton of music on them as well and they perform just as good. Would highly recommend this system to anyone!

    Good Home theater System

I was very surprised after using this Home theater system. I have used many other small home theater systems from other brands like Polk, Energy, Klipsch and Definitive Technology. I had the same problem with all of these other brands and it had to do with the center speaker. Every other set I had used I always had a problem with the voices being so low or drowned out by the other speakers. I always would have to do so many adjustments to get everything sounding evenly. So I was very happy when I had everything set up started playing a movie and before I had made any adjustments I was immediately able to clearly hear everything perfectly. So far this system has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it with no problem. I do not know how well this would work in a big room but in my smaller living room this system packs more than enough punch. Movies and Tv shows sound great, these sound almost as good as some of the bigger sets of home theater systems I have had in the past. The only thing that makes me take away one star is the speakers to not sound as good playing music. I think they are fine and work well if this is the only thing you have to play music, but if you are looking for speakers that are more for music use than movies/tv I would maybe find something else. Overall I am extremely happy with this set of speakers, If you have a very big room you might want to consider getting some floorstanding speakers but for someone with little space or a smaller room you cannot go wrong with these speakers. they sound fantastic I highly recommend these if you are looking for a home theater system.

This is my first time trying MartinLogan speakers. After calibrating and allowing the suggested 72-hour break-in period, (thank goodness for binge-watching) I’m pleased with the sound. The first movie I watched after the break-in period was U-571. The sound was very good. Surround and ambient sounds were excellent. I could hear clear isolation between the depth charges exploding, men screaming, water rushing in and crew members breathing through gas masks while fighting a fire. It created a very immersive environment. Even in a subsequent scene, the crickets chirping sounded so realistic, it sounded like the trilling was coming from outside rather than from the television. I then switched to a sports news station to test the center speaker performance. That was also crystal clear for the heavy dialogue driven broadcast. The sub and surrounds would reliably kick in during scenes where they showed highlights accompanied by music. After that, I decided to play some different music genres through Spotify. Sounds were all over the place initially with everything sounding isolated to the point of sounding a little disjointed and unnatural. It wasn't really noticeable while watching video but very noticeable while playing music. A little further tweaking of the gain and a few other settings on the receiver fixed that. The highs are now crisp and clear with nice balancing mids and clean tight bass while playing music. Sounds now blend together more naturally without certain tones overpowering others while listening to music. I’m running the speakers through a Sony STR-DN860 AV receiver. It’s not the best receiver but the speakers sound good nonetheless. These speakers are a little larger than the speakers they replaced but are still pretty compact. They fit fine on a set of Sanus speaker stands that have a max weight capacity of 3.5 lbs. I weighed one of these surround speakers on a food scale and it weighs 3.4 lbs. The center speaker is also a little larger than my previous center speaker. The television sits on a stand with a VESA mount and the center speaker sits on the same stand directly in front of the TV. I had to raise the vertical height of the TV a few inches to prevent the center speaker from blocking the bottom of the screen. The front grills of all speakers (minus sub-woofer) are removable and attach magnetically. The wire connectors are a royal pain on the surround speakers because they sit inside a recessed cavity and require being pushed inward to insert the speaker wire. It’s quite clumsy and requires quite a bit of dexterity to hold the speaker and push in the wire connector while trying to thread the wire through a tiny hole sitting deep in the recessed cavity. I had to go through this five times with each time seemingly more annoying than the last. The sub is connected via a single LFE cable to my receiver but has dual inputs. The sub is a little larger than my last sub but isn't overly large. Overall, these MartinLogan speakers sound very good. Does the sound justify the price? That's a very subjective question. While I think this set sounds very good, I also think the (different brand) speakers they replaced sound nearly as good. However, the MartinLogans are definitely engineered to a higher standard, sound more natural and offer more fine-tuning features. My previous speakers had also been in use for five years and are much more broken in. The fact that these at minimum sound just as good after only a week of use is very promising. I'm certain with additional tweaking, a better receiver, a little longer break-in and maybe experimenting with different placements, I can bring out the very best in these speakers. I can definitely hear the potential, even through a sub-par receiver. So, the long-winded answer to whether or not I think they're worth it is "yes, they are".

If you are looking for speakers for your sound system these are the ones for you. They have an absolutely crisp sound profile and sound incredible. With options to wall mount the smaller speakers plus the center speakers, and standard connections there are no surprises when hooking these up to your existing system or when setting up a new system. If you are looking to upgrade or start your speakers setup this is an absolutely great choice.

First off I want to say the packaging was second to none. Secure and protected nicely. After unpacking the enjoyment started right away, seeing how they included wall templates for each of the speakers. Bonus points right at the start. The speakers themselves have a high quality weight, feel and look to them. The front of the speakers are easily removes as they are held on magnetically. Easy on/off to clean etc.. more bonus points. The included wall mounts were easy to install and fool proof IMO. I mounted all but the center speaker which in currently just sitting on TV stand. After the setup/hookup and re doing my sound calibration it was on to hearing them "live" I went between movies and gaming and both were beyond top notch. Now granted I haven't had new speakers in forever but man oh man I was blown away. I've been missing out for a good while it seems. The biggest thing that impressed my was the subwoofer. It literally went through my EZ chair and then my "system" Lol My other sub wasn't even close to this quality of intensity. To say I am impressed is an understatement. These are the best speakers I've had, period.

1st things first, the build quality on these speakers is amazing! Each one is a work of art. The subwoofer puts out amazing levels of room filling sub bass. The tweeters are as sweet as a singing angel. Only the mid bass drivers leave anything to be desired. At only 3.5" they just can't move enough air to blend well with the subwoofer and the highs. At higher volumes the mid bass gets muddy and distorted. I tried to correct that by adjusting the cross over a bit higher but it didn't help and the sub started getting boomy. I connected my speakers to a Pioneer Elite surround receiver, and I used a Galaxy Note 10+ And a High Def Sony Walkman to test out the sound quality using Blutooth, and I used an Oppo UDP 205 as a source for CDs and 4k Blu Ray. The sound quality is amazing at the price these are being sold at. I'd have a hard time trying to find anything else this good at this price. The only things I didn't like about them is the sunk in binding posts for wire connections, that is a terrible idea... it almost requires 3 hands to make it work, and it's super challenging to balance on a ladder while hooking up to the wires coming out of the wall by the mounts. The speaker mounts are terrible as well, I wouldn't even bother using them if I had small children or a cat because the slightest bump and they could easily fall. The center channel mounts are super aggravating to get just right and just a minor smidgeon of misalignment will make it unusable. I had to redo mine 3 times to get it right and I still had to fight to get it to clip in. I highly recommend this surround system to anyone in the market for high end sound, that's cheaper than some of the sound bars I've seen that don't sound anywhere near as good. If the speaker mounts and wire connections were better these would be 5 stars all day.

This was my first time outside of sound bar and let’s just say I was a tad nervous. The gentleman who assisted in the Magnolia section at Best Buy I was at, understood what I was looking for and kept it simple for me. They system sounds even better than it did at the store and my family and I have enjoyed every movie night since!
