Can't go wrong w/Martin Logan! Only 4 stars because the shape of the speaker is a little strange. Too tall.

I viewed the motion 4's at my closest Magnolia location in Durham, NC. It was important to have bookshelf speakers as to make the spouse happy without having a large home theater system. I auditioned the Motion 2, Motion 4, two B&W models and Energy bookshelf speakers. I wasn't wild about the Martin cases, but after listening to all of the different speaker models, I walked away with the Motion 4's. The one thing I enjoyed about the speakers is they did not sound muddy. They were very neutral on the midrange and the high 's were very natural sounding, not tinny or bright. I listened with the Martin 500 subwoofer and together they were nicely matched. No muddy subwoofer or speaker, very forward sounding if that makes sense. I enjoy classic rock so many of the guitar notes and vocals sounded very natural to me. Sometimes a speaker sounds like there is a cloth hanging over the front. I am very happy with the purchase, no buyers remorse. If you are in the market for a small bookshelf with a larger than life sound, I would recommend you have a listen to them.

I really looked hard to replace the big Klipsch KG5.5 speakers but these did it. Granted, my audio room has moved so these are now the family room movie speakers that see some music from time to time. Im old school and was running Yamaha RXV 2090 to the klipsch. Its tough to replace those big horns to reproduce the brass well. Once paired with a sub i was impressed. Logan's have never been affordable until now. Plus they no longer fill your whole seating area. These will never replace the sound of those big floor speakers, but their not $1k either. for movies paired with a sub they are perfect.

I was in the market for a full set of speakers for our home theatre system and I was pretty much set on building our system out of Definitive Technology's speakers. I was almost ready to check out at our local Best Buy store when an associate stopped me to ask if I had given these Martin Logan Motion 4's a listen. I told him that I hadn't, and he proceeded to give me a demo. Let me tell you, I was absolutely floored. I knew right then and there that I would not be building my system out of Def. Tech, but Martin Logan instead.
These speakers may be small in size, but they are NOT small in sound. The highs are absolutely crystal clear and the lows just have to be heard to be believed. You simply don't expect it from something this small in size. Martin Logan definitely did their homework on these. If you are in the market for bookshelf speakers, or even smaller towers, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to head down to a local Magnolia store and give these little gems a listen. Simply fantastic.
I have since added the Martin Logan Motion 6 center channel and a Martin Logan Dynamo 500 subwoofer. The sound is simply mind blowing for the money spent. I plan on adding a set of Martin Logan Motion 2's for my rear surrounds to finish everything off.

I have never enjoyed watching Blu-ray movies at home until I upgraded my sound system to these pair of Martin Logan speakers!!! output is so crisp and not just loud.... we watched the turtles movie, and you can clearly feel the clank and swoosh of the sword fighting! amazing! looking forward to complete my set to 5.1, as they are a bit pricey...but really worth the bucks!

All MartinLogan speakers require a "break in" period of 72 hours @ 82 db. When I get new MLs, I play them for 3 days straight because I'm impatient. I bought the Motion 4 speakers for my 9.2 Height channels.
These are not made for sitting in a bookshelf. The Motion 4 are satellite speakers that come with a well engineered bracket for standard or tilted vertical mount. The logo piece can move from the woofer side to the tweeter side so your speakers don't look upside down in the tilted orientation. The binding posts are easy to load and quite robust.
The Motion 4s provide such clarity within their FR range of 70Hz - 25 kHz @ 90 db, that they match well with the ESL models. My calibration set the Motion 4 crossover at 80Hz which is exactly where THX redirects the <80Hz signal to the subwoofer. I am so satisfied with the performance that I am going to replace our outdated BOSE 3-2-1 system with a Motion 4/Dynamo 3.1 setup in another room.
Buy them and rest assured that you just purchased the best speaker value for the price.

after spending some time learning about quality stereo equipment (and i am by no means knowledgable), Martin Logan speakers are arguably rated very well. i have his speakers in a surroundsound arrangement in my living room.....and it's exceptional. so in my bedroom i set up a much more minimal arrangement for watching movies in bed. i have Vienna Acoustic speakers front/center, and didnt plan to have surround. then realized front-only was a letdown, so i added the Logans. it made a tremendous difference! although they are the back speakers, the clarity, crispness, and overall look of the speakers was a great investment. you cannot go wrong using anything Martin Logan.

These sound and look great. They are very easy to mount on the wall. I paired these with Motion 40's and a Motion 30 center. I was looking at full size bookshelf speakers but really didn't have anywhere to put them. The Motion 4s mount on the wall very nicely and sound incredible.

Great sound for small bookshelf speakers. Superb mid and highs plus a complimentary bass that is just right. Can crank them up without fear of blowing speakers.

I bought these speakers for my receiver's second zone to play music. I listen to primarily alternative, rock, and country so bass is not a huge issue. I listened to four different speakers at the Magnolia Center, and these were clearly the best sounding when comparing performance and price.
They installed quickly with the included wall mounts and sound great within a carpeted, 8' ceiling, roughly 12X15 room. I was considering more expensive speakers to assure our entertainment room had quality sound but can't imagine much better performance and certainly not for the price.

You know I want the MartinLogan ESL 8, at 1250 a piece, ouch, to much for my blood right now. So I instead settled (for now) on the Motion 8 Center, Motion 4 (left and right) and a Marantz SR7011, these along with some Yahama's and Bose speakers, making up a 9.1 system, oh my. The clarity on these Motion 4's is simply excellent. Add a Klipsch 12" R-12SW sub, the sound is simply perfect. Why would I ever need to go to a theater now, I have theater sound in my living room. Highly recommend these speakers as long as you have the power to push them. BestBuy has them rated at 75watt Peak Power, I think this is wrong, according to MartinLogan they are rated at 20-150 watts. Bring on the power.....

I went to buy the B&W and was fortunate to have a pair of these next to the B&W display.... My wife was with me and admits to not being very sophisticated when it comes to listening.... I heard the difference right away. she piped in unasked and said she like these better... Why I said.. Warmer richer sound.. JUST LIKE I HAD HEARD.....
A bit more expensive but worth it.
Just like my wife.......
Never trust a review for sound quality but do not buy smaller book shelf spkrs without trying these on for size. Then there will be no what if's to drive you nuts. Person doing the demo was great. Treated like we wanted speakers ten times the price..
