Best Spiderman game ever made

Insomniac Games has made the best Spider-man game ever. The open world coupled with the easy to learn controls makes swinging through the Big Apple totally fun. This game doesn't just showcase Spiderman but also Peter Parker and his "normal" life. The cut-scenes are charming and well written, as well as the characters, and feel as if it could have been in a movie. It makes you feel a connection to all the characters. Even the characters that usually take backstage. There are opportunities to play as Mary Jane (MJ) and Miles Moranis for example. There are also nods to the movies and comics throughout the games showing just how much love the developer has for this franchise. There is even a Stan Lee cameo. AlsoThere is plenty to do. Especially if you are a "collector". Peter's backpacks are stashed all over the city that have interesting items to give a history to the character as well as occasionally providing upgrades to your suit. And that is just one type of item to collect. Thus making the game replayable even after the main story is completed. I am writing this review quickly and off the cuff so I hope it doesn't sound like disjointed rambling. Suffice to say, this game is a must have. Every game system needs a "killer app" to justify purchasing a system. PS4 has had a few exclusives that are good "killer app" candidates (Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc) but this is by far the best "killer app" to justify owning a PS4. imho

This is everything a Spider-Man game should be! The story is very satisfying and perfectly balances being Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Peter Parker’s relationships feel genuine and relatable. Manhattan is beautifully realized and web slinging through the city is a blast. Combat is decent and there are plenty of cool suit upgrades, abilities, and gadgets but it does feel a little too easy at times. Boss fights are also a little lacking in the difficulty/creative department and most of the side missions don’t add anything to the story. In fact, most of the side missions are kind of silly, which I guess is ok for a Spider-Man game but it might disrupt the flow of the game for you. All in all, a very good game with plenty to satisfy your Spider-Man needs.

This is one of the best spidey games ever. I have played most of them and this one has a good story, fun combat but hard at times, and lots of side stuff to see and do. You get alot of suits to unlock and powers. Web swinging is fun but can get a bit difficult at times. Some of the missions are hard but keeps you wanting to play more so its not a bad thing.

I waited 3 years for game and it did not disappoint! The story is really well done, the action is very tight and makes you feel like you are Spider-Man. Web swinging, one of the most important aspects of a Spider-Man game was done very well. Overall I do not really have any complaints, the camera could get wonky during combat sometimes but nothing major.

Fantastic game with very few faults. Very deserving of Game of the Year nominations presented to it in 2018. Fun and lots to do in the game with numerous optional sidequests. Rather expansive too with a Marvel-inspired pseudo-Manhattan to swing around in. You don't need to be a comic fanboy and know much about Spider-Man or his villians to enjoy the game, but a little knowledge helps. Presented as an unique Spider-Man story, but there's enough similarities to other Spider-Man works for fans of either the comics or movies to appreciate.
About 60 hours of gametime if all sidequests completed. Tunable difficulty levels from hardcore gamer to someone who just wants to watch the story unfold with little combat challenge. I still had trouble meeting some of the objectives even on an easy level, but game gives plenty of opportunities to earn tokens to upgrade your suit and weapons so not missing out by not getting perfect scores on a few sidequests. Biggest drawback is overreliance on certain tactics in battle - some equipment upgrades and special moves activated at a full focus bar make the battles go a bit too smoothly.

Spider-Man PS4 is simply amazing! From how natural it feels to swing around the city to how fluid the combat is, I never stopped enjoying a moment of the game. I was surprised by how good the story was and how well the characters were written. This has probably been my favorite Spider-Man experience ever. It also has some good accessibility options to make the game easier to play.
Spider-Man PS4 isn't without its flaws though. There are plenty of the usual open world style bugs here. A few times I had enemies glitch inside objects during missions. Depending on how fast you swing through the city, you can find yourself having to wait outside of your objective in order to finish the dialogue between characters. Often times if you stop to fight crime throughout the city, in which there is a lot of, these moments of dialogue will also get interrupted.
Overall, Spider-Man PS4 is a very enjoyable game with fantastic combat and characters. There is plenty here for both old and new Spider-Man fans alike. I highly recommend this game for all PS4 users. 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of the best Spider-Man games I have ever played. I haven't had this much fun playing a Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2. The story is really good. Some of the side quests aren't as interesting, but that doesn't take away from the experience. This game is just so fun. The characters are great and the action is so cool.

Having fallen off the Spider-Man band wagon many games ago, showing my age here I know. I was interested in this new entry, and then got excited that it wasn't some retelling of our beloved Wall Crawler's origin.
I have yet to beat the game but can say I have had trouble putting the controller down while playing. I like what I have seen of the story, feeling like a breath of fresh air. Swinging around the city has been a blast with only a minor learning curve. The voice acting is very strong in this entry.
So far my only real complaint is the enemy variations but it's nothing to killing the fun. Brawlers, brutes, goons with guns, cowards behind shields, Rocket Launcher wielders, and whippers.
The combat is where I have had a lot of fun, if anyone reading this has played the Batman Arkham games you will feel comfortable here. Except this combat is far more punishing and I like that. Your reaction window for dodging is forgiving but very tight, you get more reward staying calm in a fight than spamming buttons. I prefer this better to be the Spectacular Spider-Man than a whimpy wall crawler.

I can't say enough good things about this game. The graphics, story, fighting and web slinging are all done so well. If you enjoyed the Arkham games then you'll love this. Only thing the game could have improved on is the side missions. Some feel pretty tedious and unrewarding. Other than that this game is fantastic.

This game is a masterpiece. Before the game came out we all saw how beautiful the trailers delivered. This is one of the rarest games where they deliver their very best. Gameplay, graphics, controls, easy to learn, the music, characters, and story are all 10/10! This game is very enjoyable and never gets boring. It's like you're watching a movie throughout the entire adventure. I am glad they brought this style back from Spider-Man 2 for the PS2. That was the last Spider-Man game I enjoyed and they brought it back in HD and improved everything significantly. The details in the game are absolutely amazing and there are a lot of funny and epic moments during gameplay.
I hardly ever get 100% on a game but for this game, I just had to because it was really that fun. Also, it isn't that hard to get 100% either. This game is fun for all ages, even if you are not a Spider-Man fan, it is still really enjoyable. There are times I go in my day and can't wait to play the game again every time after work. I am looking forward to the DLCs coming out soon. I highly recommend it!

This game is purely awesome. Very reminiscent of Infamous: Second Son - meaning lots of great traversal through a lively open world, stocked full of stuff to do. This particular Spider-Man reminds me of the cartoon from the 90’s, with a dash of modern maturity. He quips and whips witty dialogue just as quickly as his webs. The combat is a more kinetic and less hefty version of the Batman Arkham games, which is nothing to complain about. Easy to pour many hours into, but unlike a lot of open word mammoths in gaming, this game does have an ending that can be completed for gamers of all sorts. 30-40 hours and I earned 100% completion, as well as a platinum (for you trophy fanatics). Story was great, but will leave you wanting more by the time it ends. Really great opener to what I hope will be a sweet continuation into another game. Overall, just a really fun and entertaining game that can be recommended to gamers of all genres and play types. Fans will find a lot more to get excited about, of course, but all players should feel welcome.

This game is a great reimagining of the MCU Spiderman story! While there are some callbacks to Avenger's and MCU, this game takes a wildly different turn with an older, more mature Peter.
I like the game plays like a movie, but still has the action and fluidity to keep it from getting boring.
This game will make you think like Spiderman! When I first started playing, I died alot because I mainly just brawled on the streets. It wasn't until I asked myself "Would Spiderman just box people on the street? NO! He'd web up one guy, slingshot across the room to tear up another guy, and then swing kick the final thug!" When I started thinking like Spiderman, I started winning with ease!
The mechanics are awesome!! I could literally just swing for hours! There's a ton of side stuff to do to further explore the city or explain story arcs.
They knocked it out the park with this one. Big fan.

The combat and web-slinging literally could not be better. Some of the side missions do become a little repetitive, but everything else that, in my opinion, truly matters (i.e. controls, combat, feel) are so good, that said repetitiveness is still really fun.

This is the ultimate Spider-Man game. I didn't think in terms of story or gameplay would ever be topped. But here we are. This game is the peak Spider-Man game (until the sequel).
The story is is amazing. You feel like Spider-Man and you'll feel like Peter Parker. The highs and lows of his life.
The gameplay is spectacular. The web swinging is near perfect. Only complaint is when you do a web swing on a roof top, it still work. You're swinging from the sky? Lots of great gadgets and powers from different suits. The suits look amazing.
The music works so well. It reminds a little bit of the flash.
If you're a Spider-Man fan this is a must. There's little and big easter eggs from the marvel universe.
The DLC I'll give 4/5. I enjoyed the most of it. I felt like it didnt have a strong ending. But that's the great thing about the DLC. It's optional.

This game has quickly become one of my favorites. If you are familiar with the Batman Arkham series, this game has a similar feel. It is an open world concept of NYC. The controls took a couple of hours of practice but the game incorporates plenty of practice. As the game progresses, you become more familiar with the controls and not frustrated pushing the wrong button by accident. The graphics and details are awesome. Something as simple as interacting with the people on the street just adds to the realism of the game. You can spend countless hours just swinging around the city and comparing it to the real NYC. My daughter loves to watch me play the game and she gets excited when she sees certain landmarks that she visited in real life. I am eager to see what the sequel will bring and hopefully they will make an Avengers game very similar to this.

If you like open-world games and have at least a passing interest in Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 is a real treat. Taking place in a beautifully-realized Manhattan, Spider-Man allows you to web-sling around the city with a speed and momentum that feels just right. The story is excellent, and the voicework overall is very strong.
The biggest criticism I can level against the game is that about half of the sidequests are not very good, and some of the other side challenges are a nuisance. Additionally, 100%ing the game can be a grind due to having to fight repetitive mobs of enemies throughout the city. To the game's credit, the side- and post-game content does not hinder an incredible main campaign. Consequently, Marvel's Spider-Man has quickly become one of the PS4's best exclusive games and is strongly recommended.

The amount of polish from Insomniac games is unbelievable. Ratchet & Clank for PS4 was such an amazing game all around and they've done it again with Spider-man.
From gameplay to upgrades to side quests to graphics to story, everything is well done and top notch. My son is 8 and he's played the crap out of both Ratchet & Clank and Spider-man. He's played through 90+% of Ratchet and 100% for Spider-man.
Swinging is very satisfying. They definitely did their homework with mechanics. Graphics look amazing! They're not reinventing the wheel with quests and gameplay overall, but they've taken the good from other games and it's a good mix of different things to do.
It's not the most challenging game but overall a fantastic experience! Highly recommended!
