This is one of the best games the PS4 has to offer. Swinging around as Spider-Man has never felt better in a video game. The mechanics are basic enough so that anybody can swing around and feel like a pro, but there are also extra moves you can unlock that give you extra maneuverability while swinging and while in combat. Combat is very solid and feels good bouncing from enemy to enemy, similar to the style of the Batman Arkham games. You rarely need to move beyond the basic skill set to take enemies out, but unlocking extra moves allows you to be more calculated with how you engage groups of enemies. Both the acting and the story here are top notch. The cast interacts well with each other to help flesh out this spider-man story as something that can stand on its own. The story wraps up nicely and left me feeling satisfied, while also adding in a post-credits scene as a teaser to a possible sequel. The one big gripe I have were the stealth missions. Certain parts of the game put you into the shoes of a different character while you sneak around enemy NPCs trying not to eat spotted. These parts of the game really bring the pace of the game to a screeching halt. Overall, this game is a must-buy for anybody with a PS4. It’s an experience you simple can’t miss.

I bought this for my son, but have enjoyed playing it with him for several hours. The gameplay is fun, the controls/mechanics are easy to pick up, and the ability to do lots of different things keeps you playing well past the main story. If you're a fan of the Marvel universe, you will enjoy seeing Avengers Tower and the NY Sanctum in the large open city.

This is one of those PS4 exclusive games that we don’t get enough of unfortunately. Combat system is great, the controls are solid and the visuals are stunning to look at. While not my favorite Spider-Man game it certainly holds up well all things considered. Although this game can be a bit challenging from time to time, it’s a fun ride all the way through.

This is the best Spider-Man game I’ve played since Spider-Man 2 back on GameCube. Everything about this game is incredibly well done. The web swinging is almost therapeutic. The combat is very versatile. And the story I think is better than almost all the Spider-Man movies. If you love Spider-Man, buy this game. If you love super hero games in general, buy this game.

This game is simply awesome. One of the best superhero games. Combat is fun and web slinging never gets old. The only issue the game has is the camera can take some bad angles during combat and web slinging to pursue a target that can through you off. This is the only issue with the I’ve come across so far. Good story and side missions will keep you entertained.

The graphics are stunning. You feel transported into a vast and open world that allows Spider-Man’s web swinging to be both fun to watch and practical in an in-game physics sense. Enjoying the different costumes available and upgrades. Storyline is not tiresome but moves you through deliberately so that you can incrementally enjoy what the game has to offer.

If you love Ratchet and Clank like I do and Insomniac as a developer in general than you will love this game. It’s everything that a Spiderman game should be. Combat similar to the Arkham series, webslinging at its very best and a story that will leave you breathless. Awesome awesome game, highly recommend!

I'm not the biggest fan of superhero games/movies, so my perspective is more that of a gamer than a Spider Man fan. As a video game, Spider Man succeeds on many fronts. Combat and web slinging are incredibly enjoyable. And the story is solid with excellent cutscenes and production value. My only real knock would be that the open world stuff can get pretty repetitive and lacks the creativity and quality of the best in the genre. If you're a Spider Man fan, you will probably love this game. If you're just a gamer curious about the next big game, it's also worth a shot. The only people that might want to rent or stay away are the ones that are weary of yet another open world game with a lot of busywork tacked on to pad game length.

I'm sure many people will agree that before now, the last great Spider-Man game was Spider-Man 2 back during the old PS2 days. Mostly, it'd be due to the fantastic web-swinging mechanics because I can't remember anything else I truly enjoyed about that game. Enter this generation's own entry into the franchise, which has great web-swinging in addition to engaging combat and a gripping story. Traversal, though not as mechanically complex as the PS2 game's, does have something of a skill ceiling. This is more evident when playing through the few trials. The important thing is swinging feels and looks great in action. Combat is similar to the Arkham games but has a faster pace with more options. And lastly the story is original with the level of emotional investment we've come to expect from quality Sony exclusives. The only minor gripe I have is the side content feels a bit padded and repetitive. If there were slightly fewer "random" crime events and collectibles, and something more meaningful than "go here, get that" I would've felt more incentivized to do these. Overall, this will easily be remembered as a Top 5 Sony game this generation.

I waited too To review and it’s the game of the year already. It’s a great game and you can spend lots of time just swinging around and admire the view. music is great, easy controls, lots of gadgets to choose from and steady gameplay. Some of the missions are underwhelming but overall a great game!

I preordered this game and couldn’t wait for this! It has not disappointed at all and it is truly a fun and beautiful game! Graphics and sound are amazing! Story is a lot of fun. And the controls and fighting are amazing! If you love the Batman Arkham games, it’s comparable to this. One of the best games in years!! Fun for folks of all ages!

Who would of thought that taking away the development duties from Activision's hand would of resulted in one of the best Spider-Man games to date...? Everybody, everybody knew. From the moment you start the game you know that this isn't your dad's Spider-Man game. From the look and feel of the 'wall crawler', to the amazing detail that Insomniac has put into making New York City feel so alive. They nailed the feel of swinging through city with its high speed and acrobatic maneuverings, combat is fluid and responsive and the story keeps you engage enough to make you want to see how it will all wrap up. If you haven't played a Spider-man game in years or at all this is the definite Spider-Man experience.

This is the best Spider-man game I have ever played! Web slinging around the city feels great and the combat feels fluid and fast. The story keeps you interested to keep going. Visually, the game is stunning and I'm not using a PS4 Pro! Highly recommended for any Spider-man fans or anyone who loves action games.

Spider-Man for PS4 is a fantastic game in many ways. It feels so good to move around the city (as long as you don't end up in the water) and it has a nice, entertaining story that lasts about the right amount of time. The only real negative of the game for me is that some of the side tasks, such as stopping the crimes, are just too repetitive and stop being fun. Of course these are not required, but personally I find myself compelled to complete them, especially as the in-game podcast will call you out at times if you do not do them. Overall though, the game is really fun and well worth playing. It sets a great foundation and hopefully there is a sequel that takes it all to the next level.

I've played a lot of Spider-Man games in my day, and this is one has got to be the best one. I'm already a huge fan of Insomniac, but they really knocked it out of the park with this game. I'm only at 50% completion and I can't put it down. Playing as Spider-Man has never felt so satisfying. You've got a ton of moves at your disposal for webbing your way around the city as well as for fighting. I rarely use the fast-travel option because swinging and zipping around the city is so much fun. I get excited when the game alerts me to crime in the area because beating the stuffing out of bad guys is a blast. The story is really great. I love how classic Spider-Man villains are woven in with great designs. Cut-scenes are really well-directed and the character models are detailed and animated so well that it's almost nearing the Uncanny Valley here. Really impressive to me. Tons of stuff to do, but you never feel overwhelmed like some open-world games. You can make progress quickly if you want, or just dink around the city doing what you feel. If you have a PS4 and like Spider-Man even just a bit, play this game. It is so good.

This game lives up to the hype. A strong story that doesn't tie into the movie universe. Combat feels dynamic and the web swinging is so smooth that you won't want to touch the fast travel system. If you like Marvel, Spiderman, or just want to hear a great story about the hero/normal life balance, this is a must play game.

Absolutely amazing game. This game is definitely a looker and the use of HDR is implemented well. The city of New York looks incredibly detailed and true to life with sprawling draw distances. Makes you feel like you're actually Spiderman when you swing around. The web-swinging mechanic is phenomenal and as you progress begins to feel much more fluid. There is an enormous amount of content in the form of side missions, collectibles, and crimes to stop. You have several unique gadgets to use in combat that can be upgraded and are actually fun to use. There are over twenty suits to unlock that all give your Spidey a unique feel and are a great nod to various Spiderman comics. The only downside would be that there are some story missions where you play as other characters that just feel lame in comparison and you itch to get back to playing as Spiderman. Overall this is one of the best PS4 exclusive games you can buy and probably the best Spiderman game since the 2002 Playstation 2 classic. If you own a PS4, you owe it to yourself to just buy the game already and experience it for yourself.

This is one of the most immersive, visually stunning and well story driven games in a long time. Were it not for god of war this would have surely won game of the year! I recommend this to everyone!! New York city is well detailed and the fighting is fun. You can spend hours just free roaming around the city.

This is the best superhero video game ever made. It has a very deep and interesting story and the graphics are at the top of this console generation. It is an open world with tons of things to do. It might get repetitive and overwhelming sometimes but it is so thrilling that it almost doesn't matter.
