Not the best Mass Effect but still good

I think the game is still a must play and it's fun but don't think for a minute that it's the best Mass Effect to date because it's not. Look around the internet for pro reviews before you buy but in my opinion it's certainly worth playing. Player creation is weak and I just started playing but I have heard of bug issues as well. Still it's recommended for us Mass Effect fans!

As a huge fan of the series, I can confidently say that Mass Effect: Andromeda is an excellent Mass Effect game. This game got a bad reputation due to it releasing in a very unpolished state. However, it has since been patched multiple times and nearly all of the bugs and poor animations have been fixed.
No, it is not perfect. But what game is? Looking back on the original trilogy, each game had its own unique problems. I can't find any real flaws in this game that weren't also present in at least one of the previous Mass Effect games.
As a diehard Mass Effect fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this game and put well over 100 hours into it. It's filled to the brim with endearing characters, fun combat, and a sense of exploration not felt since the first game in the series. Andromeda is a fantastic follow-up to the Mass Effect trilogy.

I post this after the recent patch that fixed a ton of things(including facial animations and eyes on humans) and say this game is worth playing. People harped on the facial animations and missed out on a fun space RPG. Multiplayer is just as good as 3, and I have put about 30 hours into single player and 40 hours into MP, and both are enjoyable. The game isn't perfect, but they for sure seem to be concentrating on fixing things as fast as possible.

I strongly feel that in 10 or 15 years people will look back on this game and describe it as a great game. It's gotten a lot of flak and much of it is due to issues during it's so called rushed launch. However, this game is fantastic. It takes all the best features of the previous games and some of the best features of Knights of the Old Republic and combines them into one fantastic game. The worlds you travel to are phenomenal. The music is rich and appropriate for each mission, planet, and the like. Though some of the characters are interesting, they don't feel fleshed out. The skill tree is really unique compared to previous Mass Effect games, since it doesn't matter what you start with, you can learn almost everything. This is a great game, and though it's gotten a bad rep now, I really think people's minds will change... or at least when another generation picks this up --a generation that did not play the previous trilogy. Kingdom Hearts and Zelda: Windwaker also got a lot of bad reviews and flak when they first came out and now they are essential for many gamers. I don't know if this game will make that sort of come back, but it truly is much better than people have been describing it. I actually like this one more than the first one.

Putting aside the controversial and somewhat quirky character animation (as it is not just limited to facial animations), this game feels good - though it does not feel entirely like the previous Mass Effect games, and it isn't a life-changer. There is a lot to do, and much of the story is very linear. The choices you make while playing the game do not seem apparent, but they become more meaningful as time goes on and the more time you put into the story. Exploration is not nearly as rewarding as it should be, but the open exploration worlds are beautiful - the scenery and the graphics are absolutely amazing. This, coupled with a PS4 Pro, makes the visuals captivating and worth stopping just to admire the time that it took to build - it is no easy task, and I speak from experience.
There are a few minor issues that are not show stoppers, such as the battle system and the wonky aiming, but all in all, this game is really pretty good. Bioware is still one of my favorite developers, regardless of what people might say about this game; it is worth playing through at least once. Even still, I cannot speak to the nature of the multiplayer experience as I do not play online multiplayer games, and local-co-op games are practically extinct nowadays. There might be an element there that interests you - especially because the multiplayer ties right into the actual campaign. It is sort of interesting the way that it was set up.
Bottom line: Mass Effect Andromeda is not worth full price, but it is worth purchasing. Just wait until it's on sale :)

Mass Effect: Andromeda is an enormous game that will keep the player engaged for tons of hours of gameplay. The combat system is probably the best thing about the entire project: it's fast and rewarding. Sadly it has a bunch of flaws starting from the animation department to the big landscapes full of secondary, boring quests. And above all it lacks the epic tone of the previous installments.

I have not really read the reviews but I have not heard great things about this game. I decided to get it anyways and I do not regret it. It feels like a Mass Effect game but I have been hooked since I started. Great story, gameplay, and graphics. Yes, the facial animations are not the best but it is not as bad as the internet makes it sound. At least for me.

New mechanical changes chage the gameplay improve combat and powers. The conversation system is still in place, but not as goof/evil as the previous Paragon/Renegade system from the previous games. Odd animations sometimes will break the immersion in the world and story, but the surrounding story and gameplay still keep me coming back to the game.

The gameplay in this game is awesome, it is a game with a lot of things to do, customization is top notch, a lot of reviews complain about the animations, but to be honest some of them are not that bad plus I really don't buy games to see cut scenes, if you want a game with great gameplay mechanics and great story this is the game.

Mass effect andromeda has a lot of nice new features from its predecessors like terraforming and settlements, and has a decent story line, however there are still a few bugs that need fixed and the gameplay goes one of two ways your either doing story missions or getting stuck on a planet doing random stuff for 6 hours

I'm a huge fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy with Mass Effect 2 being my favorite.
When Mass Effect Andromeda was announced, I was excited. The closer the game got to release, there were worries among other Mass Effect fans.
Without giving away plot spoilers, I can admit that Andromeda has its faults and issues (just google the game) but these issues can be ignored and probably wouldn't even be an issue if certain game sites constantly overloaded us with said issues.
At the end of the day, Andromeda is fun and a good looking game. It takes a few hours for you the player to get the story going but once it does a solid job of entertaining. The visuals on the newer Frost Bite Engine really pop and compliment certain moments of the story.
Much like the original Mass Effect game, there are bigger things to come with the potential sequels.
And if you were a fan of the multiplayer that was in Mass Effect 3 then you'll be at home with the new version of the fun online experience.
Mass Effect Andromeda is a good game and I think confident gamers will discover this on their own.

With all the comments, you might think the game is bad. Well, it's not. It's very good but it came with some technical problems. I will admit that and it is unacceptable with a large studio, but the game is still good. It's much more ambitious than any other Mass Effect game. It's overwhelming at times but it's still good. The story is good and the characters are likable. One character story was very emotional for me. I will only say roses. I don't think the characters are as memorable as the previous ones. Nothing will ever beat Tali.
But times are different, and the game has evolved. You may not like that and that is fine. But this game is not the garbage make it out to be. People tend to be very invested and sometimes overreact. Not everything is life changing. It's still a good game with problems. They are fixing them now but I agree it should have never happened. I hope they learn from this for the next one and I think they will. Mass Effect is too important for gaming but Bioware needs to evolve more. Gaming has changed since ME 1. Buy the game. You won't regret it.

It may not be the original trilogy, but it feels like a brand new adventure, which is a good thing. Most bugs have been patched and the content here is well more than 100 hours. I'm almost done with my first playthrough but am enjoying it a lot so far. Looks beautiful on the PS4 Pro and a 4K HDR set.

With the bar set extremely high with prior Mass Effect series it was going to be difficult to meet that level and impossible to surpass. Overall good effort but has fallen short in many areas. Is worth purchasing used or when price drop happens in the next month or two but not worth full price.

This game starts out slow, like all the others, but the others didn't release surrounded by Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Persona 5 (among other things). So, it's taking a beating in ratings due to the surrounding talent. Expectations were high and Mass Effect Andromeda just followed standard Mass Effect strategy and didn't do too many new things. The openness of the game makes it a little more fun, but also makes it drag. Certain tasks that have to be repeated are too slow, way to slow.
Conversation is more fluid since it's not just good vs bad, but this also means you don't know the outcome after you say what you want to say and how it will affect others around you. Story is...ok, it won't win any awards (especially not after Horizon).
Multiplayer is still fun. It's almost exactly the same as the previous game, but you have the jetpack and more customization options.
Despite the negatives, I'm still having a lot of fun, so it gets a 4 because 3.5 isnt' an option

I have been a loyal fan of the Mass Effect series since the first game. I heard that during the first week of the game's release, there were a few technical issues. I started playing roughly week 2 of the game's launch. I had absolutely no issues with any of the game-play. The story is entertaining enough, especially regarding the fact that it is completely new. There are still updates going on(obviously), that address further issues and smooth out any other inconveniences. I highly recommend this game to any new or old fan of the Mass Effect series.

If I step back from my love of Mass Effect and it's universe, I have to rate this game a 3. For a blockbuster title from an experienced and well financed developer the glitches in this game are disappointing.
From weird facial expressions, out of nowhere dialog that has nothing to do with where you are or what you're doing, to NPC's just standing there with their arms stretched out to their sides not moving, this game has a ton of glitches.
I'm also uncertain of why they felt reinventing the inventory system and the mission log was necessary. After the three previous blockbuster games they had gotten it down to a fine art by the third installment of Mass Effect.
The glitches plus the inventory/journal mechanics warrant this a 3 rating.
