Good attempt at an open-world game. Andromeda has much the same feel as ME1. However, there are some minor flaws: load times are often unacceptable, and multiplayer can suffer from lag and rubber banding. Nevertheless, it's fun to wander a new galaxy.

The mass effect series is one of the best videogame stories ever. To equal that is a very tall order. Andromeda is a good game. Has a good story and it's a blast to play. Still, inferior of its predecessors. It's not bad at all, buy it by all means.

I've read a lot of negative reviews on this game. I waited until I could get it 50% off. This game is a lot better than I thought it would be. It seems patches fixed a lot of early problems. There's tons to do in this game and a compelling story

Yes there are some less than stellar animations but this is still a fun game to play. If you are a fan of Mass Effect then you will enjoy this game. It has a less frantic or rushed feeling than the previous ME games and is more about exploration.

Excellent game full of long hours of gameplay and graphics. This is not as good as the original trilogy, but it's jam packed with good qualities and experiences. I recommend it, especially if it's on sale.

I am a total nerd fan of Mass Effect but this latest game, Mass Effect: Andromeda does not reach the same quality that I have come to expect from the Mass Effect series. This is supposed to be a new beginning after beating the reapers but it feels like a prequel to the start of the Mass Effect story instead. While I feel that this latest game falls flat, and Ryder and his crew are found lacking when compared (maybe unfairly) to Shepard and his crew I still find myself enjoying the hours of game play. I do like the discovery of new worlds picking up side quests, and dealing with new alien technology. Even though I like the game well enough, I think it is a game that one should pick up when the price lower to 39.99 or 29.99. I cannot bring myself to give the game 3 stars and I cannot select 3 2/3 stars I just gave it an even 4 stars.

This game was terrific! I am often disappointed by games that sport a high price but all too often end up being less than impressive. Many newer games offer very little play time and developers don't do a great job ensuring player buy-in. Well, I must say I am more than impressed with Mass Effect: Andromeda. This game had over 200 different "quests" (including main missions and side tasks. I typically finish games in few days. Not Andromeda. It took this veteran gamer over two weeks to finish... and I spent hours a day playing. If you are looking for a well written game that you can devote a significant amount of time playing, then you certainly get your moneys worth from Mass Effect: Andromeda!

The main problem that I have is that the animations and frame rates are not always on par with what I would expect from this system generation. The graphics are beautiful, combat is fluid, and the story is compelling. I love this game!!

For Mass Effect fans, this game will feed the curiousity of where the universe goes after Commander Shepard. For newcomers, there may be a small learning curve but overall not too bad.
The Mass Effect world is one that incorporates real time combat, special powers, small squad action, an in depth story, and cause/effect story decisions. If you want a game that you can dive into and spend a considerable amount of time in, look no further. Enjoy, Pathfinder!

I have played nearly every Bioware game, from the days of Baldur's Gate to this edition of Mass Effect. They've stumbled along the way but only when entering a new franchise (Not going to mention DA:2) but going from ME 1, 2 and 3 which continued to build off of each other, you have to wonder why Andromeda feels like a step backwards. It's almost like this game was a love child from Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Taking some of the worst parts of ME and DA and fusing them and along with poor polish and non-existent bug testing, leaves you with this product. This is a good game at its core, but needs a few patches or a few more months in development to make that core shine past all the gunk of poor facial animations, lack of squad commands and a eh story line.

Some people seem to be hung up on the facial animations. I won't deny that some are bad. If you can look past the facial animations it has been a great game so far. MP is also ME3's with a face lift, which is a good thing.

The Mass Effect trilogies are some of my favorite video games of the previous console generation. I’m a sucker for rich characters and deep world-building, and this is where the Mass Effect series really shined. The universe you occupied in these games felt real and lived-in. Each alien species had a rich history and their own relationships with humans. When I played Mass Effect games, I could imagine myself inhabiting this world.
And now we have the new release, Mass Effect Andromeda. This game takes place some 600 years after the original series, with a ship of 20,000 colonists looking to make a new home in the Andromeda galaxy. You play an explorer named Ryder, and act as Pathfinder as you help the colonists find worlds to settle. However, Andromeda isn’t quite as hospitable as it seemed at first. Between skirmishes with hostile aliens, the crew also encounters The Scourge, a cloud of dark matter ravaging previously habitable worlds and making settlement less viable.
But this desolation isn’t just thematic - this game feels a lot emptier than the previous games in the series. Rather than the dozen or so intelligent species from our home galaxy, here in Andromeda, we have two that are new to this game - one that is strictly hostile. A few of the Milky Way races return as well, but not enough to make the game feel as diverse as the first trilogy. The story isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. It just kind of... is.
Gameplay, however, is tighter than it ever has been in the series. Combat is third-person, and features more streamlined controls. It is much less stiff than it had been in previous games, and I rarely feel like the controls get in the way of how I want to make my character move.
The game, of course, sets up for sequels (probably another trilogy), and I can feel the story ramping up to something that might be greater. For now, though, this branch of the story is something I never thought I’d call a Mass Effect game - kind of boring.

The game is solid. Are the facial animations bad? Yes, but the game on a whole is amazing. Fun mechanics. Good story. Massive world. If you can get past the Vaseline glazed eyes and faces of characters you'll love it.

If you have the time to put into this game, it is extremely fun. Gives you a pretty good sense of accomplishment as you progress through the game. Also, the visuals are stunning.
