Movie night just got a lot better with this movie.

A Belgian shepherd dog named Max, used in service in the war in Afghanistan, comes home after his master, a member of the Marine Corps, dies in combat. Max’s master’s younger brother Justin is a snide adolescent boy who’s becoming more rebellious against his dad. Reluctantly, Justin takes responsibility for Max, and by circumstances rather than his own choice, gets pushed in the direction of heroism. This opportunity for Justin to be a hero comes when one of the Marines who served with his brother pursues criminal weapons transactions back home in Angelina County, Texas, in the same neighborhood where Max and Justin and Justin’s parents live. (It was filmed in North Carolina, though, the end credits reveal.) The safety of Justin’s parents depends on him and Max working together with two of Justin’s buddies to stop the criminals and save Justin’s dad.

I’m not a critical film reviewer, but this is a good family film. Can’t go wrong with a dog movie.

"Max"is a good family type movie. I am a animal lover so I always enjoy watching movies involving canines.

I couldn't wait to see this movie in a theater and loved it mostly because I had a dog named Max. It has a moving story about the love of a dog with the alpha leader of the pack who happens to be in the military. Not to give to much away but this dog is witness to his masters murder. It's heart warming to see the family of the soldier take in the dog which also helps the younger son of the family to be more aware of life outside of video games. There's some action scenes too. I couldn't wait to get this movie on blu ray and see the behind the scenes of the making of the movie. Highly recommend the movie.

I fell in love with this movie. Prices was good too

Being a military family, we gravitated to this movie instantly. After reading the reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to see that even our youngest child could watch this movie. It's a really good family movie. For those that cry watching movies, this one will do that for a few minutes that will touch your heart. The story line is good and you will enjoy it. Maybe it will even inspire you to check out these special dogs and the many other dogs in your local shelters and make one a part of your family.

This movie was awesome! It was a good family movie about a dog of war whose handler dies at war and is forced to live life with the handlers family. The family doesn't know how to handle or care for a service dog and the dog doesn't know how to handle life away from combat. It teaches us how these things are dealt with. Good movie for the family and for learning what happens to service/working dogs when they can no longer work.

MAX, a Belgian Malinois [similar to a German Police Dog but slightly smaller] and his Marine partner are on patrol in Afghanistan and the discover an arms-catch in a remote village. The story is superbly-told, well-acted, and it is directed by a sensitive hand. This is the kind of family movie that will emotionally connect with young and old alike – suitable for ages 10 and above.

Modern day remake of a classic story about the bond of a boy and his dog, which he inherited from the Marine Corps. Story line revolves around the inseparable bond between Max the dog and the young brother who adopts him after the death of his older brother who was the dog's handler in the Marine Corps dog handler. Max and the younger brother are the heroes of the story.

A trained military dog by the name of Max, while serving in the line of duty loses his handler, while serving in Afghanistan. Max is returned to the United States where the only person he can connect to is his handler's brother. The two strike up a strong friendship which delivers excitement and danger throughout the movie.

We always think of soldiers who have PTSD, but we never think that it can affect a dog in the line of duty. This story warms the heart with the rehabilitation of a dog suffering from the effects of PTSD and demonstrates how these animals are truly heroes side by side our men and women fighting for our country.

My grandson asked me to buy Max for Christmas for him as he had seen it at the movies. He loves it but admits it is very sad in places. He is seven and says his five year old brother definitely should not watch it as he would be too upset. Personally, I haven't seen it but my grandson is a movie critic LOL.

First of, a big Thank you to the men and women of our armed forces. It's because of them that we can sleep easy at night. This movie is great! Things like this happen everyday, people robbed from us and taken way too early. Glad this dog was introduced to his brother and they saved each other!

I first saw this movie in the theatre with our twin 8 year olds. We loved the reality it showed of what the military deal with but it wasn't too graphic. It had scary parts but not anything unrealistic or inappropriate. Bought the DVD as a great reminder of what others do for us to have freedom.

If you are a dog lover and a military support then you will love this movie. It shows the bond between a dog and his handler/owner. It shows the determination of a dog protecting what he loves and a human protecting what they love. An emotional movie but one for the books.

I saw this movie on TV and thought it would be a great gift for someone who likes dogs . I was looking for some dvd movies to give to my friend for his birthday. and since I liked it, I thought he would too. not too much violence and a happy ending.

Hadn't heard of this movie but my daughter wanted it. I started watching it and was immediately pulled in. It made me laugh and cry which are my 2 necessary components of a great movie. We watch it all the time when there is nothing on TV.

This movie is awesome especially if you're a dog lover. I have a German Shepherd and this dog reminds me a lot of her, even though they're different dogs, with similar characteristics. The plot isn't anything spectacular but defense mutely worth a watch
