This movie was an OK movie if there is nothing on TV for a weekend movie. The title tells the story.

    Depressingly Good

In a nutshell, I would say this movie is not for everyone, because of the depressing topic. It's your typical teen drama involving a friendship between a boy and a girl with one of them having a terminal illness. It is surprisingly well-written, with smart humor, and excellent performances by the 3 main actors. I purchased it on sale at $14.99, my typical price point for non-blockbuster films. If you can get it cheaper (during, say, Black Friday), even better. The product packaging is very well done. The blu-ray case I purchased came with a very nice slipcover with a matte finish that's velvet-y to the touch.

Think "The Fault in Our Stars" but a lot stranger. This is the story of a high school boy doing his best to fly under the radar. He comes from an eclectic family, has a best friend he won't refer to as his friend and has the ultimate goal of getting through high school without ever choosing a clique to belong to. He is forced to spend time with a girl from school who has been diagnosed with leukemia. A tenuous first meeting leads to a life changing friendship that will forever alter the path of his life. The humor is strange, but in a good way. The emotion is powerful and the journey is worth taking. Not what I expected as I was presently surprised by the fresh, quirky storytelling.

If you like Fault in our Stars then you should love this movie, unless your dead inside. The little indie that could is a great young adult movie about love, loss, moving forward and dealing with certain things in life that we simple cannot control. This movie was beautifully written, well acted and frankly just delivers. Yes, it's sad... but it's funny, interesting, surprising, and poignant. Everything life is supposed to be. If you watch this movie you won't be disappointed, that is of course if you're not already dead inside.

This movie has so much good about it like the cast, script, and narration. However this movie has a real depressing ending and the movie addresses this at the start of the film. It is a great find funny and the main characters obsession with old criterion cinema made me smile and laugh you can tell the director is a fan. Earl's character made me laugh almost though most of the film. This movie felt very similar to the fault in our stars without as much comedy or romance. I enjoyed this film more but it felt like the same type of film. I liked this movie a lot but was a little disappointed with how the film ended.

    One Of 2015's Best!

2015 has brought some great movies. With Mad Max, Jurassic World, Furious 7, and Age of Ultron all hitting big it was nice to get a great drama/comedy for when we needed a break from all the chaos. Me & Earl & The Dying Girl delivers some great performances from the three leads and delivers some powerful cinematography. This is not a chick-flick/teen love story so definitely give it a shot.

    Clearly a Step Above

In the pantheon of teen movies, there are those that some would classify as "sick teen" movies: a teen is stricken with a life threatening illness, and fabricated and manufactured is derived hence. This is not that type of movie. "Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl" is so clearly better than others within this sub-genre that to lump it in the same category as others who wish they shared the same resonance and heart is not only irresponsible, but truly tragic in and of itself.

This was a movie with solid humor, great acting, and a touching plot, but it didn't hit me as hard as I thought it would. There are other dramedies that handle terminal illness with much more emotional prowess and more uplifting humor than this does, such as 50/50 or The Fundamentals of Caring, both of which I consider to be much better movies than this one.

This is one if my top 5 favorite movies and to see it in 1080 made it so much better. If you have not seen it please do not watch the trailer as it does it no justice. This film is original, has a great story and leaves me in tears every single time. Please watch and share

I have seen many high school coming-of-age movies most of which are humorous unless it about a tragedy in which case it is told seriously. This movie combines both approaches to produce a very insightful and enjoyable experience. I felt inspired to get up and do something with my life.
