Ghost, the amazing band you've never heard of!

Ghost, I am sure to many, are an acquired taste. And thankfully it's a taste I like! If I were to narrow down who to compare them to, my comparisons would be to liken them to Black Sabbath, crossed with The Beach Boys or ABBA! Sounds like an odd combination for sure, but IT WORKS! I have only recently purchased their previous two albums and ep based upon hearing the new track "Cirice" on the radio. The previous albums instantly clicked with me. With "Meliora", the album didn't click with me right away. I had to listen to it over and over again, and now, it has totally clicked with me. It's a great addition to their catalog. "Spirit" and "Absolution" are personal favorites on this album, but nothing compares to "Year Zero" from "Infestissumam" to my ears!

    Their Best Work to Date

I think this is Ghost's best work to date. Seems like they took the best elements of the first two albums and combined them on this one. Fantastic riffs combined with great melodies, choruses and guitar solos. This is a landmark album from one of the few metal bands around who still value the importance of melody and good songwriting vs. trying to be "over the top" all the time. My only complaint would be that the drums are somewhat buried in the mix. I was going to mention that it's a bit short, but then I looked at their other albums. Opus Eponymous is only 34 minutes long, and Infestissumam is only 47 minutes long. This one clocks in at 41 minutes, so it's par for the course. Ghost just keep you wanting more. Nothing wrong with that. If you are a fan of classic sounding metal/hard rock, I'd highly recommend this album. You won't be disappointed. I've noticed a lot of Metallica fans are also Ghost fans. That's not a coincidence (I'm one of them).

Ghost! Such a cool band. They remind me of a lot of those 70s metal bands like Blue Oyster Cult. As a Christian, their image is something I can look past, because I really dig these guys! If you liked any of their earlier releases you'll LOVE this one. If you're completely new to the band, START HERE! You will be blown away by this release. It is incredible and so addicting to listen to.

Ghost's Meliora is an album that takes aspects from their previous two releases and combines them with fresh ideas to create a haunting masterpiece. Several songs standout such as: Spirit (Haunting intro, with strong riffs, similar to something of their opus eponymous album), From the Pinnacle to the Pit (Catchy riffs and chorus, blends all their styles perfectly with a strong bass line.), and Majesty (Intro and style similar of Ghosts earlier work with a slight DIO vibe.) To be honest all tracks off the album are great. Anyone who is a fan of heavy metal in general should check out this latest masterpiece. Contender for metal album of the year.

I don't normally listen to "satanic" music, but when I do I listen to Ghost. This is Thee BEST musical album "I" have ever heard. Everything from 70s Psych to 90s Heavy Rock & Metal influences. Killer keys & guitar & over the top song arrangements with loads of melody... So well thought out... the "christian" me sez #$$#$@#$^% but.... it is TOO GOOD to ignore. Not a boring track to be found. I love God, I like Ghost. ;)

Simply put, the best material Ghost has recorded. Meliora combines the heavy riffs of their debut, Opus Eponymous, with the epic vibe of their sophomore effort, Infestissumam. The result is a brisk and taut album that will please Ghost fans and anyone who appreciates vintage style occult hard rock. I can't say enough good things about Meliora. Highly recommended.

I loved the previous albums by Ghost (B.C.), but Meliora tops them all. Modern/retro doom with so much melody, it makes you want to sing along as they conjure the demonic souls used to record this album. The Best Buy Deluxe Edition includes two bonus live tracks that are incredible!

Anyone who is reading this is already a fan of Ghost, and if they aren't, they should be if they like Metal. And the Best Buy exclusive has two extra live tracks. I love this CD, though the booklet is so thick I tore it a little trying to get it out of the case to look at it. But this is another great release from Ghost, maybe their best yet

The music is excellent. Even those that are not fans of Ghost would find it very melodic and clean. The packaging is outstanding. The liner notes contain full lyrics and beautifully detailed artwork. Added bonus: The Best Buy version of this cd comes with 3 trading cards of Papa Emaritus III and the Nameless Ghouls!

Bought with high expectations (Ghost's previous LPs were outstanding releases) I have to say I was not disappointed - playing the CD over and over for three days. If you're a fan of occult/folk/doom, then give Ghost a chance, you won't be disappointed either. Now to find a reasonably priced LP version...

This is the first Ghost cd that I've purchased. I was drawn too it initially because of the look of the band. They're spooky. The music is definitely heavy with a melodic feel. I was happy with purchase. If you like their earlier music, I believe that you will like this one as well. Happy listening!

    Bringing the Ghost back

Ghost returns with a fairly strong follow up to their previous release Infestissumam. The same haunting guitar melodies are present while the overtly satanic lyrics take a back seat for the ride. The music remains powerful and catchy with tracks Pinnacle to the Pit and Mummy Dust being stand outs.

I had been told about Ghost previously and checked out some videos, but this was my album purchase. Dramatic metal/goth music with vocal hooks and Gregorian-style chants. I caught their performance on "the Late Show" for Halloween as well. Another Swedish death-metal classic.

I checked out Ghost after they were recommended by several friends. They are marketed as a metal band, but I don't think they are very metal at all. They are very good and quite a few metal fans enjoy them. My favorite track is Cirice. Check out the video on YouTube. it has a great retro 70s horror feel to it.

This third album is a great improvement over their second. They manage to go back near the harder sound that was present on the first album. Oddly the best track "He Is" is mostly acoustic and not that hard at all. There are more elaborate synth presence that gives a SLIGHT prog feel to it. Enjoy able but still a tad uneven. Pick it up if it's on sale.

Short & simple - if you liked their previous offerings, you'll love this one as well. More of the same: Great harmonies on top of old-school metal riffage, topped off with the most evil lyrics this side of King Diamond (nudge, nudge - wink wink!)

This Swedish band has delivered their best album yet. All the elements from the previous albums have come together and created a stronger overall sound. Once you get past the "gimmick", this is well thought out and impressively performed rock with progressive, metal and retro touches. A breathe of fresh air in today's homogenized rock scene.

Very underrated group and album. I am not really sure if the lyrics are satanic or not but the songs are really good.
