Plays both CDs and cassette tapes. It's hard to find a boombox that plays both. Handles CDs well, even ones that skipped in another boombox. Tapes play well, too. The sound is loud and clear for the size of the boombox. The only drawbacks are that the buttons are on top and are solid black, making them hard to see in dim light. Also, the power light is tiny, so it's easy to forget to turn off the boombox. There is a slight humming sound when the box is playing and the buttons make a definite click when pressed (not a soft touch). Overall, it's a good boombox.

My 78 year old mother wanted only 1 thing for Mother's day this year. A cassette player to listen to her old school tapes. After searching for weeks I located this radio online and promptly purchased it. It is of excellent quality with good sound. Plus my mother thinks it's cute

Cassette player stopped working after about a dozen uses...Would not play, rewind, fast forward, etc.
