Perfect companion for my Note 2
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As one of the early adapters of smartwatch technology and the user of MetaWatch STRATA for over 6 months, I can't imagine my life without it. Unfortunately a lot of the people don't understand the purpose of smartwatch. Its not meant to be a replacement of your smartphone, but rather an extension of it, a remote notifier. I use Galaxy Note 2 and quite frankly it becomes inconvenient to constantly pull out my phone to check if I got an email or txt, or to see who is calling me. Or even a basic task of looking up how much battery I have left on the phone or about the upcoming weather. Actually, it doesn't matter if your phone is big or small. Every time you take it out of the pocket, there is more chances to drop it, especially if its a winter time and you need to go through layers of cloth. With my MetaWatch its very simple. Anytime I get an email, or txt, or someone is calling me, or upcoming calendar event - I get it all pushed to my watch and then I decide if I want to dismiss it or follow up by taking out my phone. Works great when you are driving, or in a meeting or movie theater or any other environment where you have to mute your phone, for example. Since I start wearing my STRATA, I no longer miss any of my phone calls. Not to mention that I no longer forget my Note 2 in the car since you get a vibration notification if you are getting away from the phone. Plus, you are in control of what you would like to be displayed on the face of the watch. Time, calendar, phone battery, weather, stock, etc. The display is very unique, always on, and highly visible even in a direct sunlight. The construction is very rugged. Some people forget that you supposed to wear your watch outside in different weather conditions, so waterproof rating is very important. I have no worries with STRATA. Plus, with a unique music remote you can control playback of your audio player on the phone. It was absolutely fun during this summer when I had my Note 2 and bluetooth speaker paired up out on the porch, and me completely submerged in our above the ground swimming pool with my metawatch on being able to play/pause and change between the tracks on the phonbe. Now, that is ultimate use of a smartphone :) And btw, for those who are deciding between MetaWatch and Pebble, just look at toyish built of the Pebble and think about it :)

The best smart watch out there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used other smart watches and MetaWatch is the best one. The battery life is long, it's water proof, I get easy to glance at information like weather and stock. What I also appreciate is the design, it's a solid feeling watch and looks great. People come up to me and compliment me on how great the watch looks all the time. I did not get that reaction with my other smart watches. A lot of my friends are going to get a MetaWatch too after seeing how mine looks. I can easily glance down and check the time and see what my next calendar appointment is. I feel like I'm more organized and I always know what's happening. When my phone dings, I immediately know how important it is with a simple glance and without taking my phone out of my pocket. I LOVE IT!

Excellent watch and compliment to my smart phone.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Pebble and returned for this watch. The Pebble is a great watch, but if you want a watch you feel comfortable wearing anywhere and is dependable this is perfect. I orginally thought the watch would be too big for my small wrist, but the band fits well and is very comfortable. I prefer the one piece band because you never have to worry about the band coming loose. I paid $14.99 for the Bestbuy protection coverage and the next two years are worry free. This watch is a deal at $79. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Pebble, but performs all the required smart watch functions well. You can tell from the quality of the build that much effort was put into the design and workmanship. I wear my watch from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. The bluetooth range is great and it's wonderful to not have to be glued to your phone all the time. I can have my phone anywhere in my house and receive all important notifications from my phone.

Great idea, nice quality, but.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a present and could not wait to get on using it. Downloaded the app, connected via bluetooth, and was good to go. The problem started when I realized how much battery was draining from my Iphone 5s. WIth only 6 hours on standby, I was at 50% battery. I can go 17 hours on standby and some light usage, and still have 80% battery left at bedtime. Contacted Metawatch support and they are very responsive. Very responsive. They had me go through some troubleshooting things like resetting all connections, reset the phone and leave the data, and next was to do a wipe of the phone and rebuild it manually. I didn't have the time or energy in doing this plus my return window for Best Buy was closing. The benefit of this watch is that you can see the caller ID of people calling or what the text message says while driving, in meetings, etc. You cannot really do more than that - well, you can view the weather, sports, stocks, etc. but doing that is something I'd use my phone for anyway. But while driving to glance and see it isn't something worth answering or pulling over for is worth alot. You can also control music, which I guess if I was using music I'd be looking at my phone. So, if you want a way to do these things, go for it. If it doesn't work so well, you can take it back. If it works, like it has for others, then you are ahead of the game. There aren't many smartwatches for Iphones so this not working out was a very sad day indeed. The only negatives I had with this, really, was that the display can be hard to read in certain indoor lighting situations. I will say however, the look of the display is really cool and the numbers/letters look like a mirror in outside lighting. The backlight is pretty good and does help in low light situations. And the battery life of the watch wasn't going to be as long as I think it should be. By the end of a 36 hour stretch it was down to 50%. Maybe I had a defective unit or something, but I had spent way too much time trying to get this to work. The Metawatch app for Iphone has to run in the foreground all of the time. I'm one who kills off apps if I'm not using them, so this was a little frustrating. But more than that, the Iphone said I used my phone as much as it was on standby, even though that wasn't true. I might have used my phone for 30 minutes and it was on standby for 12 hours, but the phone thought I had been "using" it actively for 12 hours. So that is probably why my battery was going so quickly.

Very good watch with iPhone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used my MetaWatch for about 10 months with my iPhone 4S, and overall I'm quite pleased. The company has been very responsive if I have a question (did twice). Pairing the phone to my iPhone is easy..though I have to bring the app up on my phone about half the time I put my watch on for the day. I love being able to get notifications on my wrist - with a silent, subtle vibration. That works really well! Personally, I receive too many emails and Facebook notifications to use that - but it's nice having the option. Probably the most useful feature for me is being able to see my next scheduled event on my watch - and it vibrates when something is set to start. I teach college; and this let's me know when it's time to start and end class without my having to keep looking at the clock...awesome! I look forward to continued updates via software!

BEST SMART WATCH FOR IPHONE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch after returning the terribly designed, terribly expensive Martian Watch. I absolutely LOVE this watch AND it was on sale for $130! I have an iPhone 5s and this watch compliments it nicely. It actually LEARNS more alerts. It's comes with standard alerts like calls, texts, Facebook, calendar etc but the more alerts your phone gets the more will appear on the watch's menu. Now I can receive CNN or Wordfeud alerts on my smart watch. People have complained about a 3-5 second alert delay, it's more like 2-3 seconds and frankly, who cares. If it were a 30 second delay, then maybe. It also comes with a leather band and not a plastic one like the Martian watch (although not a Wilson's Leather quality leather I admit lol). I have a job where I'm not able to use my phone a lot and this drastically helps me. I do have ONE major complain which keeps this from a perfect score...the reflective screen can be difficult to read. I don't know who thought this was a good idea but it's anything but. A touch screen would have been great but at least a darker screen or one without reflective capability would help. You have to reposition your wrist way too often to read things properly. It does have a light however. Overall, I would definitely buy this watch again, and again...until the iWatch is unveiled of course.

Superior to the smart watch selling at $300!!!

The so said $300 smart watch that I bought went back to the store within a few days of buying it. Have really nothing good to say about that one.... Buyers Beware!!!!

Practical
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think I have it figured out. Pebble is for kids who are never exposed to sunlight and want silly graphics on their watch face. Metawatch is for working class people who want easy access to practical information. You can easily customize the watch face readout. I have my Meta watch face divided into three sections. The top half reads time and date. Bottom left reads current and hi/lo temperatures. Bottom right reads calendar events. Just a couple gripes that prevent a 5 star rating: 1) I want the ability to format the time and date data to my preference. For example instead of "2/27 THU" I would prefer it read THU 27-FEB-14. 2) The watch face has to be at just the right angle otherwise the data is unreadable. It looks like some kind of reflective mirror material. It is readable in direct sunlight, unlike the Pebble. 3) A replaceable watch band. Looks like if the plastic watch band breaks you have to replace the entire watch.

I like it and it has even greater potential!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch without doing much research... with that being said, I really like it! I think there is a lot of potential for future widgets... like news feeds. The software is open source, so I thought about diving in to create my own widgets... but I need a MAC... The watch looks great and is easy to use. It doesn't make sounds... like beeps or alarms, but it vibrates on your wrist letting you know you have a notification. If it pops up on your phone, it will pop up on your watch. ( I just got a notification from FaceBook on my watch while typing this!) I have turned off the ringer and vibration on my iPhone and I am using the notification function on the watch only. It will be great when sitting in the movie theater. With the firmware upgreade, you can scroll through the emails or texts... or whatever notification you received. Enjoy!

Product does not work as advertised........yet.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw the deal for this smartwatch on a bargain site and thought I would give it a try. I was plannig to use it for notifications, caller ID, text messages, and music control. Three of the four features worked quite well. The short coming was with the music control. I could not get my music to begin or stop playing via the watch. I updated the software on the watch and still no success. I finally decided to reach out to metawatch customer support. They responded in a timely manner stating that current software with iOS7 disabled the play/pause button feature on the watch and that they were working on a fix. This undisclosed issue and the unsatisfactory display has brought me to the decision to return the watch.

Great SmartWatch for the end of 2013
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The watch is a great feel on the arm, doesn't feel cheap, or light, nor heavily weighted on the arm. Clean screen that is seen from any lighting area. I haven't charged the watch in over a week, and charged my phone well over 10 times. Over all i give the watch a 9 out of 10. The only thing it really lacks is the the typical "beeps" from a watch, for hour alerts or even just our daily alarm.

Works Perfectly with iOS7 well built great company
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this and a pebble, and since I've gotten this the pebble has sat in my desk drawer. This actually gets every notification from an iPhone, Caller ID works perfectly and it is really well built. The pebble feels cheap and is easily scratched compared to the Meta Watch.

Great Basic Smart Watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great Smart Watch. It will vibrate, when you are receiveing phone calls, text message, emails and some Apps. It about 10 build in widgets. It all proffessional and none to keep smart phone in a pocket, and still being inform. Black and white display is sharp and clear in most lighting conditions, including sunny days. It is a lot more simplified than Samsung Gear, but is also compatible with most Adroid and Apple phones. It also costs almost 3times less!! So far, I had not experience any problems like crashes or compability issus. My Smart Stata watch is paired with Samsung Galaxy S5. For the price is just perfect. Who ccan afford to pay $200 to $300 buks for a phone companion. Either wait another year for the prices to fall down or buy this Watch.

I want to like the device but ......
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used both this appliance and the pebble and although the build quality of the "frame" I think will be more durable, its feeble attempt of trying to save energy by throttling itself down during inacdtivity period makes it a poor device. Let me explain: When a txt message or a phone call arrives, if your device is on silent it is usually located in a discreet spot on your body or nearby. The idea of the device is to notify you of the event that is occurring. In the event of the Metawatch Frame, when a txt message arrives, there is a delay of 3-5 seconds between when my iphone 5s receives the message and is already vibrating in my pocket or on the table and when the watch receives the notification and vibrates on my wrist. In my situation, I auto grab the phone and try to read it before using my watch appliance to read the message. When paired with the Pebble competitor unit, the message arrives either at the same time or my butt feeling that it arrives slightly before the phone displays it.I feel that this is where smartwatch appliance response time ought to be, not after the device has gone crazy with its bells and whistle but before it has a chance to do so. Other than this gripe, I think the metawatch has merits in other aspects of its functionality and I hope the company continues to develop its interface to compete with other companies since I think right now they are half a step behind in where the core of the technology should be .
