Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the excellent gameplay, overall performance, and well-executed controls of Metroid Dread. Many appreciate the engaging story, exploration, and action-packed nature of the game, while some find the difficulty to be a positive aspect. Criticisms include concerns about certain boss encounters, the price point, and the limited presence of music. Some players also felt the game was a little too linear and that the EMMI zones became repetitive.

This game was a blast! It was a LOT harder than other Metroids out there. The boss fights can be very difficult. You have to die several times and figure out a technique for each boss. Once you beat the boss it's very fulfilling though! The sprint/super dash is a bit more difficult on the switch since you're using the analog controller instead of a d-pad. That and you have to push in the analog stick to start the spring. youtube has some folks doing crazy dashes and wall jumps in sprint mode that I just can't figure out. Other than that I can't think of any downsides of this game. Great graphics, great power ups, great bosses. Great addition to the Metroid family.

Absolultely love this game! It looks gorgeous on the new OLED Switch. The colors beautiful and vibrant and pop on the new screen. It also looks great when you play in docked mode. The game is the Metroid you've come to know and love over the years. It's fun and challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. Really enjoying this new installment of the Metroid franchise. The controlls for Samus are super tight and responsive. I personally recommend playing with a pro controller if you've got one. Samus feels way more agile that way. However, the joycons will do the trick too. If you like action and a good challenge, I definitely recommend this title!

Fantastic 2D Metroid experience. Definitely not an easy game ! But a good challenge, controls are solid and the story is good. One of the best games on the switch!

I am a huge Metroid fan, but mostly of the Prime series. When I heard about this game, I went back and played most of the 2D games in the series and I'm glad that I did! The moment in this game is fantastic. There are many suspenseful/intense sections of the game. I do recommend playing some of the older 2D games if you can. The intro to the game summarizes the storyline (which is very simple), but there are a lot of reveals, especially at the end, that are far better if you are more acquainted with the games. If you can't play the old ones, this is still an excellent first Metroid game!

The atmosphere of this game can sometimes scare you but the good gameplay will keep you coming back for more. Beautiful character design and a very cool sci-fi world to explore.

This is the newest Metroid game in the franchise. It is a side scrolling game, where you are hunted down by a giant killer robot, as you try and figure out how to get off the plant.

Metroid makes it's return to 2D! I was worried that Mercury Steam would butcher this game but they have knocked it out of the park. It's not a full on Metroidvania as there are more tools to help you reach the end. Even the level design funnels you into a certain path. it's more action oriented with some puzzle elements here and there. They captured the visuals, sound and tight gameplay mechanics that I have not experienced since Super Metroid. Even the difficulty curve is perfect. Prepare to die and get lost quite a bit in the second half of the game.

Feel like a kid again! This is harder than any Metroid games I've played. It is also top 3. Runs great on antiquated Switch hardware. Pumped for Metroid Prime 4

Classic 2D Metroid is back! You'll have so much fun traversing the world uncovering hidden secrets and finding upgrades to your arsenal. The boss fights especially are unforgivingly enjoyable! They're extremely tough but once you figure out their pattern, it's so rewarding when you beat them! The only negative thing about this game is that it's too short! I "blasted" through the game in under 10 hours, however, if you want to complete the game 100%, there are hidden upgrades to discover throughout the planet that'll add more playtime to your game.

Great gameplay, difficult but not unfair. More linear than some of the older 2D Metroid games, but fans of Fusion should feel right at home.

When this game was announced, I went back and played every Metroid game besides Prime Pinball and Federation Force. I was worried that I would be burnt out of the Metroid formula when this came out but it was a joy from start to finish. I ended up doing 4 playthroughs and still am ready to start another. Some advanced techniques and bosses can be challenging and require some practice. However the game never felt unfair and once you figured it out, you wondered why you ever struggled in the first place.

Metroid Dread continues Nintendo's 2D side scrolling adventure while adding some intense, high pressure, horror element to the series. Metroid Dread continues Metroid Fusion's story but plays similar to the 3DS game Samus Returns. There are plenty of secrets to be found, new enemies, and game features to experience. The difficulty level in Dread has increased compared to previous Metroid games, and the boss battles are the best in the series. The graphics are great, and game performance is solid.

Metroid 5, another excellent entry in the long running series. Samus is fast, responsive and agile like never before in a large, beautiful 2D world full of secrets and shortcuts. Building on the features introduced in the 3DS remake of Metroid II, Samus can fire in 360 degrees and melee counter the fast and dangerous enemies, discover powerups new and old using the most detailed map in Metroid (or almost any Metroidvania), and uncover the secrets of the ancient Chozo and the X-parasite.
