    I was looking for a quality flash to augment the built-in flash of my Sony DSLR. Since Sony has a proprietary hotshoe, choices are fewer than if I had another digital camera. This Metz flash is great - high, high quality and works perfectly with my camera. It also delivers more light output than the middle-tier Sony branded flash, and costs less. You can find other 3rd party flash units for Sony, and for less than this Metz unit, but they are not if the same quality or compatibility. The ability to update the firmware yourself is a big plus, too!
