    Students Beware!!

I have had nothing but trouble with my brand new surface 2. I'm not going into all the details, yes there is a whole more more going on then what is in this review- believe it or not.... but after my 4 day old tablet crashed and microsoft told me they couldn't do anything about it, and try this restore they had to send me, that also didn't work so then it had to be replaced. So they send me one In exchange. Now it has been over two weeks without a computer. I know my iPad is great, but I am in my last leg of my masters in business administration, and I cannot continue to do my school work on it. I finally get the new replacement surface to replace my brand new one, and Microsoft sent a "new" one that was logged into admin already. On the phone for 3 hours trying it restored to factory setting... Another day of updates... And now I find out that surface tablets that use the RT software (excluding the pros) cannot access educational websites. So the whole point in getting this and it can't go on to my (online) school. Microsoft can't help, but I just got off the phone with Bestbuy and they are Willing to help me. Thank you best buy, I really did not know what I was going to do. I am writing this review, yes to vent a bit, but there is a greater purpose. To forewarn students looking at this for school. It may work one week, just it did in the first couple days, but any change in coding...and it will be gone. It is a very common thing, that the RT software doesn't work with educational websites. The support said for me to call the school and ask them to change the coding for the website so the surface 2 would work. I hope this helps someone, save some of the frustration and anguish I have been through in the three weeks since Christmas.

A year ago, I purchased this Surface 2 with the intention of having a tablet to use during college. About a month ago, my touch screen stopped working due to an update that was installed to my surface. Just a few days ago, a new update was installed that made it work ago. I was so happy, until a new update the very next day made it stop working again. I have gone to an actual Windows store where they were unsure as to why his was happening. I contacted the Microsoft support team but after restarting, resetting and backing up my device, I was back at square one. Since my warranty has expired, Microsoft has told me that the only choice I have is to replace the device and pay a fee of about $300, which I refuse to do. They claim that they are unable to help me further because this is the first instance in which a touch screen has been affected by an update. I have never experienced such dismissal regarding an issue originating from the company. Now, I want to encourage everyone not to buy a Microsoft Surface of any kind. I know this is just one instance, but even before buying one I heard horrible comments. Also, if you or anyone you know has a surface that has experienced a similar issue, please contact Microsoft and let them know. I'm currently waiting for the corporate office to call me. So if you've seen an issue like this, vocalize it so that they can acknowledge when they make a mistake that can cause consumers hundreds of dollars.

LTE-Office nice touch_app store needs work 4 stars

Nice device and Office integration is definitely a selling point. The bundled apps are good and a micro SD slot is a plus. This device is easy to learn as there is a lot of user based information online to get a non Windows user up to speed quickly. With LTE it has the right amount of portability and usefulness I was looking for. I opted for a cover (keyboard) and in my opinion that should be included with the device instead of being offered as an accessory . The MS App Store could be better as there is a lot of superfluous offerings mixed in with needed stuff thus making app selection a somewhat tedious affair.

I bought this after reading reviews saying it is good for school work. however this version does not support java or adobe. You need a tablet with widows 8.1. The surface pro 2 supports it but its like 300 dollars more.. I had to return this and I bought one off of del that works great! for cheaper then the surface 2. If you just want o explore the internet it great but if you need more I would recommend something else.

Besides this being a Surface 2 the Att function is fantastic. It's fast and everything you need office etc. I added a 64 microsd card and the arch mouse and touch cover 2 all you need. I had an issue with the cover 2 not connecting and working all the time Microsoft stepped up sent a replacement after a 10 min chat I couldn't have asked for better support. Att doesn't sell windows 8 tablets anymore but the Surface 3 is coming out in a few months with a 64gb Att Lte version. Couldn't ask for a better work tablet/laptop anywhere on the market if your into windows 8 like I am

It is OK for checking emails and surfing internet. It is nice you can use the tablet almost same way as the Windows PC. I thought pre installed Office was wonderful but there is huge problem here: Applications!!! As a tablet, you can find very little selection of apps to install, and as a windows PC, most of application would not be installed. Surface 2 seems to me is dinosaurs in tablet business (Like Cadillac in the car business). My iPad and Galaxy tablet are much much versatile.

I bought this for my husband to replace his aging laptop. It's been a bit of a learning curve since neither of us has used a 2-in-1 like this before. I haven't had issues, but sometimes my husband can't get the keyboard (also purchase at Best Buy) to work. I need to use the Surface more since simple stuff like toggling between tablet and PC mode is a happy accident. It has its quirks, but nothing that a quick Google look up can't fix.

Not quite enough for all business apps

While this device is very lightweight and runs MS Office, the Windows RT operating system falls short for all the business apps I need to use. Best Buy did a terrific job setting it up for me, but when I discovered that my company's proprietary software would not run on RT, I had to return the machine. Too bad. Otherwise it would be great for travel, for checking email, and running stripped down Office apps.

Excellent product, well made device that shows marked improvement in speed and video/audio quality versus 1st generation Surface. The stereo sound is excellent. Keyboard is a must (integrates with nearly any keyboard but Surface Keyboard is amazing). I love that it already has drivers for wireless printing and every other device I own.

If you buy this product best buy did not tell me I had to update it or it would not work correctly. So I had to take it back get another one then someone tell me that is why it was not working. So there is my comment about that. Tell costumers that they should update it as soon as they get it. Because they average person would not know to do that. Other then that the product works great so far!!

Purchased this device for work, our team is currently using them and we are very satisfied with the Surface. The 4G is especially helpful to have internet access out in the field. The first device we purchased would not hold a charge so we needed to return it, however Best Buy accepted the return with no problems.

I choose a Windows tablet because I use Windows PCs and laptops. I didn't want to learn to use the iPad. There seem to be plenty of apps for my uses, and I'm slowly getting to know my way around the interface. The battery life is good, and the keyboard/cover is a convenient accessory.

Nice toy, not very useful for serious computing. Google Chrome will not work on it. In order to get Google search must call for a google page. Defaults to Bing, a more or less useless search engine. $200 Keyboard stops working whenever it feels like it, even though it is completely attached. Would NEVER buy again and not recommend it to my friends.

If you want a tablet with the capabilities of a PC this is the computer for you. Not overly user friendly at first glance but once you get used to the layout, it is very quick to navigate your way through the different operation systems.

I really like the idea of the surface and find it to be very convenient as a tablet with actual computer processing ability. Buyer beware that most programs and apps are not compatible with Windows 8 RT OS at this time.

The Surface 2 is a pretty awesome machine! It works similarly to a laptop, except it's much lighter and more versatile. I would highly recommend using a wireless mouse as it makes word processing much easier!

Just what the doctor ordered. I can use it anywhere. At home it is connected through my router.... on the road through AT&T. What more can you ask for. Costs so far are low and anything I need to do it does.

Got really frustrated with the Ipad. This has the best of both worlds, the PC and the convenience of the Ipad.
