    Basically was caught out without wifi and only had hardwire option unfortunately surface pro 3 doesn't have Ethernet port. Had to rush out and pick one up at bestbuy. Always there when I need them.

    wifi is not always the best option In order to actually get the best connection from the network you need a cable Well if you do not take the dock with you this is the only way to get connected

    I am a student in the middle of college, and the wireless connectivity in our dorm rooms is not the greatest. In other words, Ethernet is a must. So, with Surface Pro 3, this will fully allow my tablet to be a laptop replacement. As a plus, it does end up making things look nice. The plastic isn't cheap-looking, so that's really nice.

    Needed a wired Ethernet adapter for my Surface Pro 2 and Microsoft makes one. Because it is Microsoft it is more expensive than it should be probably but it does the job. USB 3.0 connection. Best Buy had it, I bought it, it works.

    Works as expected. One note - the docking station gives you an Ethernet output directly, so this is for use without the dock.
