I travel a lot for business and love this laptop for its light weight and power. It has a long battery life and works great with an adapter for projecting my PowerPoint presentations. The built-in stand sets it up at perfect angle for viewing.

As an Accountant this is the perfect tool for any mobile professional, the screen is the clincher as well as the stylus that is very intuitive. The ability to install a Micro SD card and a 128GB USB Stick you now have this machine packing mega space. Microsoft finally got this right.

I have owned iPad Air, Ipad4Retina, Ipad mini, nexus 7, samsung galaxy 8, nook HD +. Found the android system and the iOS tablets to be wayyy to limiting to the point I would go back and forth between them and my PC. I own a business and must be able to get the full versions of pay pal, micro soft office, adobe creative suite, go daddy, google talk, and to do HTML coding. This PC does everything the above mentioned tablets due plus fully functions on the windows operating system. The wacom pressure sensitive touch pad and pen work wayyy better than the plug in wacom bamboo I have for my PC. Besides that if I need to sign a document or have a customer sign something the MS surface pro 2 does it just fine. I also enjoy the windows versions of hidden object games, match 3 games, etc. and found the android/ios versions to be very diluted, and limited. I love being able to play the windows version on this device. The HD graphics were breath taking. If I need to make a WiFi call I can do it with google talk without having to have a phone number or cell phone service. My son loves Starfall and ABC mouse. All of the android and apple tablets and phones do not support Flash and you cannot access these websites. Microsoft surface 2 place websites such as Starfall and ABC mouse with no problems. I also have a bad back and find it convenient to be able to use this device while I am laying in bed or sitting reclined in my anti gravity chair relaxing my back. Seriously Android and Apple tablets are for young children who need simple learning apps. and for people like my mother who just want to check email, go on FB play Candy Crush, read books, surf the net and watch you tube who want something simple and uncomplicated. I can send and receive faxes and print things from this device. Android and apple tablets are simple children s toys compared to this touch screen PC that operates on a windows system. My 4 year son also enjoys using the highly sensitive pen to practice witting his numbers and letters and drawing pictures. Needless to say I GLADLY sold my other devices. I wonder why the sales people NEVER explained the difference between the android, iOS and windows operating systems on the tablets. If they did I would have NEVER wasted my money on android and apple tablets. Android and especially Apple tablets are wayyy over priced considering the fact that they amount to nothing more than dawrfed, knock off, boutique versions of Microsoft surface Pro 2. If you want a toy to play with then waste your money on android and apple tablets but if you want the real thing then buy Microsoft surface Pro 2.

Overall, especially from a performance standpoint, I am really impressed with the Surface. It loads super quickly and even updating doesn't take as long as it does traditionally. I strongly recommend for those who have limited dexterity like myself that you purchase a case for the device, as the device itself is rather slippery and could potentially slip out of your hands easily. On that note, I can report that I have unfortunately dropped the device twice now but it has survived as if nothing happened much to my surprise. Given its toughness, ease of use, the fact that you can basically put anything on it that you can put on any Windows 8t PC, I have to give Microsoft kudos on this version of the Surface and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who can go high-end with their tablet purchase.

I was in the need of a full version tablet to do video editing and photo manipulation and I wanted something that would be able to handle that task. I found that this product had incredible speed and power to do the tasks I needed. Battery is great and I really love the touch interface.
It is a little heavy in the hands but most the time it's lying across my lap. It also costs a pretty penny but I am not at all upset that I spent the money.

Pros: Full Windows, so I'm able to install full Windows programs, unlike most tablets. The kickstand is convenient. Much, much, MUCH better handwriting recognition than the iPad.
Cons: A bit on the heavy side, it gets fairly warm during use, the material that the casing is made of is a very soft metal which scratches very easily, and the Microsoft App Store is horrid. Very, very few worthwhile apps available.
As to whether I'd recommend to a friend, I'm selecting yes, but it's situational, based upon their needs.

I use this for mostly entertainment stuff like watching movies and playing games. Also project youtube and other videos and music to play over my TV. i really like that feature. But i got the pro version because now that i'm out of school i don't use my computer as much but when i do i need it to run full adobe pro X and Office. also runs the regular desktop client programs flawlessly. Me and my wife Skype all the time while im gone at work and the camera could be better but its still good. Starts up in no time and opens programs in a snap. I really think its a great tablet/laptop. It is a bit pricey but i think the quality is great. Also the only reason i didn't get the 256 is because i needed a new computer before they were back in stock.

Surface pro 2 is a great tablet, My household has 3 tablets. An Ipad1 an I-pad Air and a Surface Pro 2. As far as I am concerned the I-pads are toys for children and non technical people. The surface pro run all of the applications i use for work and allows me much more freedom of mobility. I originally bought a surface pro then upgraded to a Pro 2 and the battery life is phenomenal. I get between 8 to 10 hours easily while in power saving mode.

I have been living with my Surface Pro 2 for about 3 months now, in a nutshell I can say I wouldn't want to live without it. I came from a Android tablet and there is no comparison. This has the portability of a tablet with the power of a laptop. Only gripe I have is the limited amount of Windows 8 store apps, some of my fav apps that are available on Android are not available for windows (with the hope that will change). Second gripe is that I get random sleep shutdowns while using the attached type 2 keyboard when folded back. Odd behavior but I have lived with it, I just detach the keyboard. The main reason I purchased the Pro was the stylus, you will not find a better note pad replacement. Writing notes for work in One note has been a life changer, I am more organized now then ever before.

This is an excellent product for those who want to be able to interface work from a PC product into their tablet. Unlike Apple products which is limited to the amount of memory within the basic unit, this has a USB port for an external drive. This makes it virtually limitless storage. Additionally, it uses the same Windows 8 format. No need for a mouse.

The Surface Pro 2 is my first foray into a tablet or laptop, and my device fills both roles very well. The Surface is easy to use (love the Windows OS) as a computer, and it works well as a tablet, with plenty of apps available. Managing battery life has been a challenge, but it is not cumbersome. The web support and various chat rooms are very helpful. Still exploring and learning about the capabilities, but I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Good little machine. I first approached using it like I would use my iPad but after a couple of days I realized it is nothing like an iPad. It is a computer with a touch screen. Once I re-thought my approach it became very simple and powerful tool.

This product is easy to use with great features. I love the ability to type with a keyboard or write with a stylus and add to Word documents at the touch of a button. Split screen to work with two programs at once is great! Storing on a flash drive works great too! Much lighter weight than the laptop I've been carrying around!

I have been intrigued with tablets for awhile, but with a laptop that goes with me to work and client's homes constantly, and a smartphone, I did not want or need a third electronic device. So for years I have been looking for a full Windows PC, with a digitizer pen, that can also be used like a tablet. I have not been disappointed. After 3 months I am very pleased. Great hardware, Windows 8.1 is fast, runs my Windows programs and Apps, easy to carry, the touch keypad works well, long battery life, and the pen lets me take notes just like with a legal pad.

This is my first foray into the Surface, and I am pleased overalll. It makes an excellent substitute for a traditional laptop (I purchased a slim keyboard as well) and is an okay tablet in a pinch. It's heavy, it's thick, but there is no need to travel with both a tablet and a Surface either. Still, it is very expensive, but the quality is evident.

Overall the Surface Pro 2 is pretty awesome. This was a gift for my wife and I'm finding it really hard not to take it over and make it mine!
I will be buying one for myself or seeing if my company can get me one as it is a great melding of a laptop and a tablet, is lite-weight, boots/wakes up fast, and loads applications very quickly due to the SSD. When the 4G LTE version comes out I'm in!
Its a bit on the pricey side however. Competitor devices seem to be much cheaper and offer the touchscreen, same or bigger SSD/RAM however. And keyboard sold separately?? Come on Micro$oft...really!!?? It should come with it and be order-able in Type or Touch bundles.
Overall I would recommend the Surface Pro 2 if it fits into your budget. Go for the 512GB SSD and 8G RAM if possible!

I have been waiting to get a tablet until I could have one in which I could easily use Office products. I have to have Office for work. I was happy to see the surface come out. So far, it has worked wonderfully. Good battery life, easy to set up and use, etc. There is a desktop mode that resembles the same type of screen on my laptop. I love mine!
