    Awesome ultra-portable laptop!

Summary first: This is an excellent ultra-portable fully-powered Windows laptop. I have a Samsung Tab S7+ also, which I'm replacing with this. Android is "fine" but I need to do things with Windows more often, and also the keyboard on the Surface is really excellent. I haven't tried the one on the S7+ because it's super expensive and has too many reviews of its mediocrity. Pros: The screen is fantastic. Bright enough for outdoor viewing (maybe not sitting directly in the sun, but in bright light). Great colors. Excellent crisp resolution. And I looooooooooove the 3:2 ratio. All laptops should have that. The keyboard is also excellent considering how thin it is. I like having separate home, end and delete keys. As someone who actually types, I don't know how anyone uses a keyboard without these *cough*mac*cough*. The trackpad is really excellent as well. The physical buttons take a little too much force for my liking, but you can tap-to-click just fine. The motion tracking is excellent and perfectly smooth. I didn't find the need to adjust its sensitivity at all. They clearly put a lot of work into making the best trackpad you can make for something so small and thin. Being able to detach the keyboard, or quickly fold it flat against the back makes this super easy to use in tablet mode which is nice for casual web surfing without needing to type much. I found I am able to balance it on my lap in a variety of positions using the kickstand just fine. It's more awkward than a full laptop obviously, but still, it's not bad. The touch screen is very responsive and seems to pretty much always know what I wanted to tap on. I didn't feel the need to adjust it's settings, or even bother to look if there are any settings for it. I also got a Surface pen, which is great. It's super responsive, taps exactly where I expect it to. I don't really use it for writing, just for precision clicking if I don't feel like using the trackpad. It's got a SUPER strong magnet to attach it to the left side of the Surface, but it will come off anyways if you're not careful. It's about a zillion times stronger than Samsung's magnets on their Tab tablets/styluses, so bonus points for that. Cons: The battery life could be better. While it's sleeping, it does seem to consume very little. But turned on, it just doesn't seem to last quite as long as I'd expect. Still, it's "okay"... I haven't used it long enough to give a good time estimate. But my Thinkpad Yoga 1st gen could go for probably 8 hours on a charge and I don't feel like the Surface could. Storage is pretty skimpy - either 128 or 256. Considering the actual chips aren't THAT expensive, they really upcharge you pretty severely if you need more. However, the micro SD slot is awesome so I plopped a 400gb chip in there and that's oodles of room for all my pics and music. You probably don't want to run programs off that, though, it's just not fast enough. So the 128gb internal memory is enough for that. This isn't a shocker, but of course you can't easily run Android apps on it without some kind of clunky emulator. This isn't really the Surface's fault per se. In my imaginary universe I could just run those somehow, which would give me access to Android-only apps like Hoopla for reading e-books from the library. I don't care about Android games too much, but using the Surface as an actual tablet definitely is limited by available software for Windows.

Have had this Surface for over 2 years, has worked without any problem. Have keyboard and pen for the tablet and it works just as good as a desktop, only you can carry it anywhere. Keyboard and pen work perfect, and the touch screen is awesome. A great unit for peoplw who need to work on the go. After 2 years battery is still holding a good charge.

The surface pro paired with a Monoprice 16068 Universal Tablet Desk Stand and an ergonomic keyboard is better than a laptop or desktop device on their own. It is very versatile, light, powerful and inexpensive. The battery drains somewhat quickly under a large computing load but It is still adequate specially if you have a good battery saving set up.

I absolutely love my surface pro it is perfect for me light weight and smaller then a Lap top makes it easy to carry with me everywhere I go since I use it for work and for personal use it goes everywhere.. when I’m in a hurry I can just grab it and it fits right in my purse just in case I don’t have time to put it in it’s case. I love that I have the option for the keyboard which I rarely go without and how it has its own stand on the back.. I haven’t had any problems with it at all.. I literally use it more then my phone

Had my surface for a while now and still love it. Light enough to take anywhere, I got a case and the screen is protected by the keyboard when it’s closed, and powerful enough to stream or do most everything else. Login with the camera is still cool (just look at it) and has the battery life to get thru most flights. I got a pen which I can’t say I’ve had much use for but the touch screen is responsive and easy to use in tablet mode with your finger. Wasn’t sure if it was going to take the place of my laptop before I bought one but now I take it everywhere.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is a wonderful tool and addition to my normal laptop. It is small enough but also powerful and large enough to be very useful as a note taking device but also capable of accessing all sorts of documents, etc. The detachable keyboard is very convenient and easy to use. The battery seems adequate, but not sure it is always the a ten hour battery as rated. would recommend this to anyone needing some easily portable device with a lot of features.

MS has come a long way with its Surface line. Unlike earlier versions, the Pro 7 has a quality feel. It's a responsive system that handles both the role of a portable tablet and the requirements of a decently powered laptop. Is this for gamers? No. Is this a good replacement for a business configured desktop? Definitely, yes. Pros: Light Bright high-resolution screen. Comfortable responsive keyboard. Fast enough processor and RAM for all business-related applications. Excellent sound quality for such a small device. Cons: Battery. High-def display kills batter pretty quickly. Ports. One USB-3 and one USB-C. Dock required if you want any expansion at all. "Slippery" - Had to purchase a 3rd party "toughbook" type cover. When held as a tablet, can kind of get away from you. Found this cover that includes a hand strap on the back for a secure experience. No touch pen. - But buy a 3rd party pen. With the eofficil MS pen running over $90, I grabbed a 3rd party pen that was listed as "Surface compatible" for $32 and it works perfectly, if not better than to MS version. Next to impossible to upgrade. All in all, a great piece of hardware. It is what it claims to be and it does it well. I was so happy with it, I purchased a second one for my wife and she also loves it. She took it on a 3 day to Vegas this week and said it was so nice to be able to access her work apps and RDP to her desktop while being able to pack it in a side pocket of her roller suitcase. As the Senior Windows Desktop Engineer at a multinational insurance company, I am in the process of purchasing another 3 for field trials in order to replace the heavier and much more expensive Dell XPS15's we currently deploy. I'm confident that I will not have issues convincing our decision-makers of the benefits of a properly configured Surface Pro over the expensive and, in my opinion, over-hyped XPS line. If you're on the fence, just pull the pin and grab one. I'm sure you'll find it was the right decision.

Wanted a compact, tablet style convertible laptop. The surface replaced a long in the tooth Lenovo twist i3. I had tried replacing that with a samsung chromebook pro, the s pen was great, but the keyboard was problematic and had to be replaced twice in one year. The Surface is quick and light and works well with office and media apps. While not a gaming laptop it will run older titles easily and esports like world of warships at playable fps. Storage is at a premium, so I installed a 200gb micro sd, and the handful of games seem to run well off it.

The items is great, but open boxed item?

First the review about the item: the surface pro 7 is exactly what i wanted. Windows Os, packed in tablet form. Add the keyboard in and you have laptop, but much more portable than a laptop to me. Programs run smooth, but the touch screen feature has slight delay, like milli of a second; but that is enough to make typing with virtual keyboard an annoyance. I recommend the keyboard which has a mouse trackpad on it too. Certain programs aren’t too friendly with touch screen feature because of small buttons they have so be mindful when you purchase to run a specific program you have in mind. About best buy: i feel like the surface pro 7 was an open box item. Upon unboxing it, i noticed stain marks on the outside of the surface pro. The cable seemed to be wrapped up and re-boxed unlike how a new cable should be shaped. There was one finger print on the surface screen, and the plastic screen protective layer wasn’t there like when you would purchase any new tablet. But this explained the discount price i guess? Although if it is openbox, please let buyer know in the description, don’t hide it or do s better job at re-boxing and cleaning of the product.

The Microsoft Surface line is a great line of thin and light laptops. Now, they are certainly on the pricey side and are 1000% a luxury item, but if it is a luxury you can afford, I find little I like more. Now, in my family we have surface pro's going back to the Surface Pro 2, a Surface Pro 4, and Surface Pro 6, and Surface Pro 7 now. All of them still work well and present little to no issues for any of us. That being said, our laptops primarily act as moderate daily drivers for low level productivity and web consumption. For me, it is my secondary computer, next to my high powered desktop computer. For what I need/want a laptop for - it is perfect: something easy to bring to work that I can access all my important files on, access web services, and watch youtube.

    Fantastic Distance Learning Computer

I bought this bundle on back-to-school sale for $799 with the keyboard included to replace my son's Chromebook for distance learning during the pandemic. Typical great Surface build quality and utility. My son's school system started using software that did not work well with my 8YO son's Chromebook and started linking to videos that were not compatible with the YouTube Kids restrictions on my son's Google child account. I sold the ChromeBook and replaced it with this Surface Pro 7. The 10th-gen I5 works great for everything he does in school now and for at least the next couple of years. The 8GB of RAM keeps the Windows 10 moving well for now but I wish it had 16GB of RAM for future-proofing. I guess that is too much to expect for the bundle price. The onboard graphics are good enough to run Minecraft and other less graphics-intensive games but that's not why we bought it. I also used a pen from a Surface Pro 6 with no issues. The front-facing Windows Hello webcam logs him into Windows quickly and reliably. It works well for the required video presentations he must make for his school work. The rear camera has good quality for taking photos of his work for uploading to school. My son usually uses a wireless mouse and keyboard during school with the Surface tablet on a monitor riser, but the Surface keyboard works fine whenever my WFH wife needs to boot him out of our home office to take a sensitive work video call. The kickstand lets him set up in the living room or wherever else he finds himself. Bottom line: It's a great machine for a great price if you can get the bundle on sale.

This was one of my choices for college after having a gaming laptop and I'm glad I had picked this one out of the competitors. It does everything you want it to with the added feature of a touchscreen. You can do everything a laptop does along with being able to draw and take notes in the same application. SSD is just fine for what I used it for and I loved the type cover.

Good device with unreasonably bad battery life

This is a good device, don't get me wrong. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the device is powerful enough to handle any daily task and some lightweight CAD or audio work. The surface pen works well with it and the display, while not that accurate or vibrant, is still very nice. Microsoft definitely nailed the hybrid 2-1 category and we all know it just as well as they do. The REAL issue here is the battery life. I have never made my device last over 5.5 hours of use, even with aggressive power saving settings and 'barely viewable' screen brightness levels. Its worse than the surface pro 6 that I use at work - it can make it to 7 with the right balanced settings. I was surprised to see that after opening and closing my device about 5 times to enter information into excel over the course of 45 minutes caused a 20% drop in battery life. Nothing in task manager or any services using any power. I can't make it through more than a couple of classes or a few hours at work without seeing a battery at half or worse, and that's with the 'mixed usage' Microsoft claims they used as testing criteria. I went from 100% to 89% just typing this review over the past 10 minutes. With the brightness at around 35% The internet seems to agree with the poor battery life, and the firmware update supposedly correcting it improved sleep efficiency some, but hasn't fixed the stupid-fast drain from doing even simple things on low brightness. To each their own. But this is a device that's supposed to be an all day portable computer, and the fact that its a struggle to get to 5 hours of battery life and typically getting about 4 means that this is getting returned. Do I recommend this? Unless you're okay with miserable battery life on a hybrid 2 in 1 laptop intended to be with you through your long day, I definitely cant.

I purchased this for my wife for Zoom meetings, checking and sending email, and web surfing both at home and on the road. It has been perfect for her needs. She loves its ease of use, the familiarity of Windows, the USB-A port, the keyboard, and that it is lightweight and easy to move around.
