    Decent Keyboard, Good Cover

I paid the extra 10 dollars for this keyboard/cover because color doesn't matter to me, and prefer the tactile feedback of actual keys. It magnetically attaches and stays on good (better than the pen that comes with the tablet). The price was pretty ridiculous but I don't think I would like the tablet as much without it. I would recommend this keyboard/cover to a friend over the others from microsoft, but if a 3rd party came out with one with similar functionality but cost less I would buy that one instead.

I purchased the Type Cover to enable touch typing on my Surface Pro. This has really allowed me to replace my laptop with the Surface. I can touch type meeting minutes on the fly. There is no way I could have done that on the screen keyboard or the soft keyboard. The touch keyboard provides tactical feedback and just works well. Easy to attach to the Surface too.

    Great tablet keyboard

Bottom line, it does what it needs to. An F-Lock button would make Excel work easier. The keys are normal size, so there is trouble switching from a desktop keyboard. It snaps on and stays on easily and protects the screen when its closed. It's a bit overpriced, compare to Apple's wireless keyboard for just under $70, but the only other option is the touch keyboard and it just doesn't type that well. Try and get a sale, it's worth $60-70 or so.

I have tried the touch cover and it works well but I bought the type cover because I type a lot. I picked up something with a tactile feedback. I like it because it also protects the screen of my Surface Pro. The keyboard does not illuminate which is a tiny hiccup but thank goodness for the onscreen keyboard, I can still use it in the dark.

The type keyboard is very hand, lightweight, useful, and easy to use. The attachment mechanism works very well, to allow the keyboard to attach both forwards and backwards for a soft cover while using only the tablet. Key travel is sufficient. Love this keyboard and hope Microsoft improves the next iteration. Trackpad is a bit wonky at times, but helps in a pinch. Would highly recommend to anyone with a Surface.

Much easier to type on than the Touch Cover. I highly recommend the Microsoft Surface RT, but do NOT get the Bundle with the Touch Cover (total $599). Buy the Surface separate, (for $499), then spend the extra $30 more than the bundle, and get the Type Cover separately (for $129). This makes a great little, lightweight, portable, computer, that has everything already on it. I am very happy with the total package

    OK keyboard, Lacks Important Keys

The Surface Type Cover is a decent keyboard and an important accessory to get with any Surface tablet. However, it doesn't have a numeric keypad or even a PrintScrn key, so taking screenshots can be tricky, if you don't know how to do it (hold down the Windows logo on the tablet and then press Vol. Down). The keyboard doesn't have a great deal of travel - only a few millimeters, so if you're looking for a full keyboard experience you might be better off with a different ultrabook or a different keyboard. However, if you're looking for something that will allow you to type while on the go, plus be able to sleep the device when closed while connected, this is a much better choice than the Touch Cover.

    Makes my Surface Tablet usable!

I got a Surface RT tablet at a conference over the summer as a giveaway from Microsoft for teachers. I already have a laptop for work, I use an iPhone 4 for work, and I have an Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) that I use for both personal stuff and work. So... the Surface wasn't something I really needed... but I was hoping it would help be become more portable with work--I travel all over my school district on a daily basis, and I wanted to see the Surface RT tablet reduce how much I carry--could it replace my laptop when I'm on the road? With the included touch keyboard--Nope. Big fat nope. I am a FAST touch typist and I was constantly frustrated by the touch keyboard. I started just leaving the Surface at home and continued lugging my laptop. I finally sprung for a type keyboard for the surface, and it's made my new tablet actually usable. I do bring a USB mouse with me because I find the trackpad on the type keyboard is not super... but that's a small price to pay for being able to leave my 6 pound laptop at home. I can do (almost) everything on my Surface as I could on my laptop, and teamed with my T-Mobile hotspot, I can access and work on everything I have saved in the cloud. Typing on the Type Keyboard is SO MUCH BETTER. It's like using a totally different machine. Much faster, much more comfortable, and only add a millimeter or so of thickness to the Surface RT package. Throwing down for the better keyboard has made the Surface RT worth having for me.

The type cover is a must have if you own a surface. The actual key press is far better then having the touch cover. My only problem with it is that it Should Come with the surface, not as an accessory. Other then that it is a great thing to pick up while you are in the Store picking up your surface.

The keyboard cover can be used or folded behind the tablet and use the touch screen. The attachment is easy and the tablet is very responsive to the keyboard, I prefer the keyboard over touchscreen, but I tend to use both simultaneously. Seems to provides good protection when closed.

It unlocks the tablet when you open it and locks it when you place it over the screen. My Surface sometimes doesn't register those motions but the keyboard in and of itself is wonderful. It is easy to type on and makes for a good screen cover when needed.

I like the type cover much better than the touch cover. We have both and use the touch for travel figuring we don't type as much while traveling and then it does not put the better keyboard at risk either. Both serve as a protective cover and have a soft, padded outside which is nice to use on your lap or a surface so that it won't get scratched or scrape on the desk/surface you are using.

Good responsive typing, hard to use on anything other than flat surface. Great connection, Magnets make for tight connection to tablet. Even though the keyboard feels flimsy it is sturdy, I dropped the board twice and still works great with no blemishes.

I would definitely go with this keyboard rather than the cheaper one that is not real keys. It attaches easily and is easy to use. It does detach really easily so if you are buying for a teen, you'll want to make sure they don't leave it lying around somewhere and loose it.

This key board is light weight, I love the way it protects the screen on my new Surface tablet. The cover is soft and I love the grey felt. The key board is just right for typing and doing you work and doing projects. This key board is like having a real key board just like the one I have a work. I would recommend this to everyone.

The surface comes with a serviceable, flimsy keyboard. This keyboard is the same size but has a better feel to it. It feels like an actual keyboard. This doesn't feel like it is going to break in half, however, it is pricy for an item that is replacing an item that comes with the surface.

Initially i found myself missing or mistyping some letters but after a few uses I no longer make mistakes; I like the feel of the keys and the feedback during typing. It doubles down as a cover to the screen which is good. I think its a bit on the expensive side but then again it adds functionality to the Surface tablet. I am happy with it.

So when I got the tablet I didn't need the type cover but I like the fact that it acts as a protective cover but I also take good care of my products. I got it because I like to feel the keys and not leaveing finger prints all over the screen.
