Ive been with PlayStation for the longest time. Since the PS2 days and have never even thought about switching to the Xbox side of things. I was the kind of guy to always talk trash about xbox this and xbox that and everything else and always poked fun of it. But after doing ALOT of thinking and research, I decided to set my differences aside and give the xbox a try. And I bought the 1TB Assassins Creed bundle for $349 or $372 (w/tax) on 11-9-2017. I'm from northern CT so tax is 6.35% and it was either this or spend well over $500 on a new PC gaming graphics card. So I decided to spend my money and take a chance on the xbox and not let my bank account take such a large hit. And so far I'm actually very happy with it. The set up took some time, about 25 mins to a half hour depending on your internet speed. And you need a Microsoft Account to log in. Didn't know that at first but was no big deal made one in a snap. Very easy process. And out of the box you get 780GB of space left over. I should've figured I wouldn't get close to 1TB but after installing 5 games now I have 599GB left over. Of course that number will go up and down over time depending on what I install and uninstall. The 1 month xbox gaming pass is pretty cool. LOTS of older games to choose from. The interface is taking me some time to get used to but its pretty cool. I do wish the "Pins" meaning where you can see your games at by scrolling up and down, was a bit better. Wish the games that are "pinned" would be more a side to side thing like the PS4. Would make things easier. But its whatever. The system runs great for me and I LOOOVE how you can set up the system to where if you want to download a few games or so over night and just turn the console off but the games still download. Like the PS4's Sleep Mode. VERY helpful. And also the xbox one s's download speeds are more constant than my PS4. Sure the speeds can be up and down and not always stay at one speed but at least I can see my download speed as I'm downloading the game and now have to pause a download and constantly check to see what the network speed is unlike the PS4. Anyways excellent system. Still figuring things out but so far very happy with my purchase. And the 14 day free Xbox Gold Live online membership thing is great. Anyways I did a little review of the system on my YouTube channel GTX970 I just uploaded a bit before doing this overly long review. Just type in xbox one s (first time ever xbox owner and my little review of the system). yea a long title. Anyways thanks for reading this.

    How Far Gaming Has Come

Before I write my review, can we take a second to reflect on how far gaming has come? I remember seeing Tecmo Super Bowl on Nintendo, watching the cut screens, and thinking "Is this real life??" When I got the original Playstation I thought "There is no way graphics could get any better." Now, you see games like Assassin's Creed Origins on a 4K HDR TV and it looks like you are playing someone's actual life. It's a testament to how incredible these systems are these days. I was torn between the Xbox One and the PS4 and ultimately went with the Xbox One. I'm glad I did. I much prefer the Xbox controller over the PS4 controller (just what I grew up with) and the graphics are insane. I don't have a 4K TV, but the graphics were noticeably different either way, and I guess I still have something to look forward to when I'm ready to upgrade. I would suggest going with the 1 TB because games on the new system take up a ton more space than you might be used to. Anything smaller than 1 TB will fill up insanely quick. If you are a true gamer and you have the technology to support it, you'll likely want to upgrade to the Xbox One X. It will give you even more amazing graphics ("is this real life??") and a more powerful experience overall.

While I already had an XB1, I needed a 4K Blu-Ray player, and this costs about the same as a good Sony or Samsung UHD Blu-Ray player, yet does so much more. After getting it though, I realized that it is definitely a step up from the original XB1. Way smaller case and now has an integrated power supply. Also, the controller is textured on the back where my other one was smooth, so the new controller is more grippy. I am not a huge fan of the white color, but it is something different, so sure. I just wish that Microsoft would make the hard drive user upgradeable, like Sony did with the PS4. Not that I need more than 1TB, but maybe I want to put in an SSD... As for the games, I really like the gameplay of Assassin's Creed Origins, and as this is "Origins", I don't have to worry too much about missing the 5 or 6 other games that came after II. As for R6:Seige, it has potential, but I apparently need to join some Ubisoft club in order to even play a normal match (not "situations") against AI opponents. Lame... This does also come with one free month of Xbox Game Pass, and that is great. It is like Netflix for games.

I like that this system is more powerful than the original version, so if you are thinking of upgrading because your old one is chugging along, it is a nice idea to and worth it. For those of you considering for a first time buy, I also recommend. It is nice having this system, we use it for many things... Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, YouTube, streaming videos from phones, Blu-ray DVDs, and of course lots of gaming. The down side is that there are some games on that are exclusive to the PS or Wii that are pretty cool being missed out on, and the only other downside is that there is no way to hook up Bluetooth speakers to it. I suppose when I upgrade my TV that will be something I will keep my eye out for.

A bundle with two games is a great way to start with an Xbox One S! "Assassin's Creed: Origins" was a particularly great way to get started with my Xbox, combining the open-world feel of "Grand Theft Auto" with a big, history-tinged storyline like previous "Assassin's Creed" games, with great graphics and smooth gameplay to boot. The Xbox also came with all the stuff I expected from a gaming console -- Netflix, Hulu, and the ability to buy games online -- and, as a bonus, has an optical audio output I can send to my soundbar instead of going through my projector. Loving it so far! (Caveat: I've only owned this for two months so far!)

I waited until Black Friday to make the move up from my XBox 360. Great bundle! Love the AC Origins game. Was a little disappointed that a 1 GB system only has 730GB of space available for games after you run the initial updates. Hard to believe the formatted HD/OS takes up that much space on the HD. I've had a 65" 4K TV for over a year and this thing really makes it shine. Almost bought the One X system but this one still looks awesome and for the same money I was able to add a second controller and 5 games. HDR looks incredible. Blue Ray player is great too!

Overall great console and a good experience; only thing that bugged me at first was that the two included games were downloadable instead of physical media. I share an internet connection with other tenants in my apartment, so the download for Forza essentially took all night; meaning I couldn’t immediately game with my new console. After that, though, things have been great. If I want a new game, I can download it while I’m at work and come home to a playable game. Definitely not a deal breaker.

I love the XBox and have had every iteration of it. This is a wonderful device and the games are incredible. Best individual playability yet. I docked it one star because of the complete lack of split screen games for the more popular titles. The days of XBox parties are done for, unless everyone has their own TV and system. It is a sacrifice that needs to be made to enhance the gaming experience...I get it. But a lot of the gaming experience is based on sharing it with your friends.

Xbox One S is Good Enough

The Xbox One S a good gaming system. But underpowered next to the PS4, PS4 Pro, and definitely next to the Xbox One X. The latter being the most powerful gaming console ever manufactured, by a wide margin. If you want the budget Xbox that will play 4K Blu-ray with HDR get the S. If you want all of that plus real 4K gaming, higher frame rates, anisotropic filtering and up-res added to games, even older 360 games, then get the X.

This is an excellent buy for the price. I have no complaints about this purchase. Much to my surprise it also came with RAINBOW SIX Seige & ASSASINS CREED along with a three month subscription to XBOX Gold. Bottom line this deal was to good to pass up. The only thing that would make it even better would be to give the hard copies of the games included instead of digital downloads. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.

I had Been looking to purchase a gaming system for awhile and I was Between the PS4 and the Xbox. I decided To go with the Xbox because it was a gift and this one was on sale and from friends I heard This system was really great and it’s true. Nice gaming system, just kind of a bummer to have to wait for the games to download to the system, but nevertheless this was a great purchase.

Very nice gaming system, particularly when it comes with assorted games. Best Buy price was 50$ less than competitors. Only issue is internet speed. If you do not have higher than average internet speed it takes time to download and get games going. Once downloaded, they play ok, but it is timely to get them going. I do not have a 4K TV so cannot speak to the graphics with that.

I can see the performance difference between this and Xbone. If your buying an Xbox for the first time there is no reason not to get an S at this point and maybe if the price drops a bit go for the X. Sadly I discovered how much better this is with Zoo Tycoon.... all of the animals and people in the zoo start to bog down the original xbone.

Christmas gift. Had problems as when I hooked up the Xbox through HDMI there was initially no video Took it downstairs to tv that already had older Xbox, set up video settings on new Xbox. Then back upstairs and it worked. They should be configured to either auto detect video or default at a basic setting so any tv can get a signal through HDMI

I got this Xbox last year after comparing a few different consoles. After setting it up and playing a few games on it, I've fallen in love with it. It runs really well and seems to have no issues connecting to bluetooth items or the internet network. The controller has no issues and I love how it's set up, feels really comfy in my hands.

I don't really know the difference between this and the xbox one x, but the husband really seemed pleased when he opened his xmas presents. Its Mid-January and I haven't really seen him since, although I keep hearing him shouting from the game room, something about noobs and campers (?) I've been told that's a normal side effect of this purchase.

I had an Xbox 360 for a few years, and it was ok, but I was never in love with it. I'm totally in love with the Xbox One, though! Faster, sharper, sleeker, more wonderful than the 360 in every single way! Loads games faster, can download updates and games in the background while you're sleeping, has a fantastic blue-ray ROM - I love my Xbox One!

For the price if the Xbox one x console, my 19 year old picked this, we got the Xbox one s console with multiple games, many many more games separately, a second controller and an Xbox live card. For a hardcore gamer the differences in consoles may make it more appealing, but for the rest of us this was a great deal and more than adequate for gaming .
