This has to be the sexiest console so far. Small and slim (not like the original xbox that looked like a 80's VCR). It's very silent and have not had any problems. Plays UHD 4k blurays without problems and with HDR if you have the capable tv. So far it would not pass bitstream audio (dolby atmos, true hd dtsx) however an update is coming to fix these (confirmed by microsoft).

Even though the Xbox is more known for its gaming prowess the Xbox One S is an excellent media player. 4k Blu-ray with HDR 10 support, 4k streaming, and can connect your cable or satellite box to it with a pretty good built in guide. And it's marketplace has you covered on a wide range of TV apps. Oh and it plays Xbox games! For the price you can't get a better entertainment box. My only knock against it is that the UI can get some getting used to and can sometime hang for a second here and there.

I didn't buy the Xbox One when it launched and I'm glad I didn't this is a far better bargain and the design is 100 times better! It's sleek, quiet and awesome! 4K is the reason I bought it and it doesn't fail!
In my opinion the base model is the one to get along with an external hard drive to store games. getting 5 Halo games is a great bonus too!

What Xbox One Should Have Been 3 Years Ago

I thankfully was able to sell my Day One Edition Xbox One the week the Xbox One S was announced. I went two months without an Xbox and boy was it worth it when I received the Xbox One S. Great price and package, I have an external HDD that I had purchased for my 2013 Xbox One so going with the 500 GB was good enough for me
The unit is small, pictures don't do it justice and the PSU built internally its amazing what they were able to put it all of the original Xbox One into this size frame. This unit kind of takes me back to the Original Xbox and the Xbox 360, original Xbox because PSU was internal and Xbox 360 because of the wow factor and white color.
I was looking to purchase a 4k UHD Bluray player at some point this year and the Xbox One S committed me to the format. I have an HDR +10 Samsung TV and with this purchased also picked up Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, 4k UHD Bluray. The films never looked better and JJ Abrams over use of "solar effects" were truly bright in these versions and really stood out.
Overall, very happy with Microsoft and how they have changed the Xbox image in a short three years. The Xbox One S is what should have been released 3 years ago and the 4K UHD Bluray player is an outstanding bonus.

I purchased this unit knowing it was 4K capable. Great console. Visuals are incredible. Only wish I would have purchased the one with more memory. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to download an app for the bluray player and it eats up more memory. The Master Chief collection took forever to download. Overall a great system.

The Xbox one S is an awesome machine. It does everything I want and more. There's no reason not to have one of these even if you already have an Xbox one. The S is smaller, quieter, more efficient, and supports 4K video and HDR. It's also much better looking in my opinion. It doesn't hurt to get some free games with purchase as well!

I bought the Xbox One S so that my daughter could take our original Xbox One to college and we could play online together. This Xbox One S has been fantastic! I love the smaller size and love the fact that it has a 4K Blu-Ray player. Unfortunately I don't have a 4K TV yet so I can't take advantage of it. That will be my next purchase!

The Xbox One S console is slimmer, sleeker, and provides more options than its bulky less attractive counterpart. The console itself performs well for the most part and I have not had any technical issues whatsoever. However the UI is a bit clunky and unresponsive when navigating through the various windows. All and all it is a good console and will satisfy most of your gaming needs.

This is great for those new to xbox family or those willing to trade up. It's quiet and a lot more compact that the original model. It performs slightly better in some games than the original. The biggest reason to pick this up is for the 4k and HDR. Watching the Martian in HDR 4k is a sight to behold.

Good, but disappointing Amazon 4K streaming.

This is a solid console at a good price but it doesn't offer much that the Xbox one vanilla does other than 4K Uhd blue ray capability and 4K steaming with Amazon (supposedly) and Netflix. I can confirm that 4K UHD looks great. I don't have 4K enabled on Netflix and can't confirm if it works or how well it works. I find the amazon app very disappointing. The app gives zero indication that It can actually stream in 4K, and does not use 4K as a category for either prime videos or the videos you purchase. I am not at all sure that the Amazon video app actually enables 4K at this time: if it does, it could hardly do a worse job of highlighting that ability. Considering that 4K video content is the only thing that distinguishes this box from the vanilla model, that is disapponting. Perhaps the fault with the app design lies with Amazon rather than Microsoft, but it nonetheless puts a damper on my enthusiasm for the real world usefulness of this item.
The Xbox S plays games perfectly competently, but there is no noticeable improvement in frame rate over the original.
The smaller design and smaller power brick are a nice plus.

The Xbox One S is well worth the change BUT only if you have a 4K tv setup. The games take on a more realistic quality and UHD movies are incredible looking. I had the Xbox One and as soon as I purchased an OLED tv I made the switch to the One S and have not regretted it.

The best part about the XBox One S is how sleek it looks and how it makes absolutely zero noise while on. It is 4K streaming capable so that is certaintly a plus. The negative is that the unit does not come with a headset or a 4K HDMI cable. I could maybe understand no cable, but to not come with a headset is disappointing. All in all, for the price it is a good buy and I am happy.

Best 4K UHD Option

I primarily purchased this for the 4K UHD option - playing XBox One games was a side benefit!
From a cost perspective, this costs as much as most standalone 4K UHD players - so spend the same money and get something that can also play XBox One and 360 games!
I had some issues with the supplied HDMI cable - my LGTV supports HDR, but the HDMI cord kept causing me to have to turn off the HDR option.
I replaced it with another HDMI cable and now it works beautifully. There's a ton of posts on LG and XBox forums on this same issue.
Bottom line - this thing is a beast and renedered Batman Vs. Superman in 4K-UHD with HDR beautifully and also upscaled my 360 games as well!

the 4k bluray player was a big factor in this purchase. The halo games were a nice addition. I was 16 when the first halo came out and I loved that game. Playing it 15 years later with improved graphics is nostalgic. Got forza horizon 3 and love it.

I have had absolutely no issues with this console. If you're thinking of getting one, this is a fantastic price for a great platform that comes with a pretty cool game. Only downside is the storage capacity but you get what you pay for.

The Xbox One S is a great improvement from the original Xbox One! The much smaller size makes a huge difference between the consoles. Also great for people with 4k TV's but those without 4k TV's won't be able to get that benefit.
