I'll be honest; I'm not a fan of Lord of the Rings; but I'm hooked on this game. It borrows the combat basics from the Batman games; but adds a layer of brutality that helps set it apart. It's a solid open world action game and worth picking up even for people that don't like Lord of the Rings.

This is one of the best action games I have ever played, it is incredibly satisfying to slice and chop uruks in half as you travel through mordor. Gameplay Even if you are not familiar with The Lord of the Rings franchise, this is an awesome stepping stone. It has a great story and introduces you to many new characters. This game is powered by the Nemesis System which is truly a unique experience. Every player will have a different experience as they carve their own path, and face unique monsters and enemies.

This is one of the greatest open world games I have ever played and the fact that it's Middle Earth inspired makes it that much better! With sweeping visuals and captivating story this games does not disappoint!

This is one of the best games I’ve played. Great gameplay the battle system is similar to the Batman games and the story is awesome if you like Lord of the Rings and the GOTY comes with all DLC

Very entertaining game. Great what they did with the open world style. Challenging also when you get the the higher ranked boss. I would recommend this game if you are looking to pass a few hours.

This game was amazing to play. The fighting style was engaging and fun and there was a great balance of needing to follow the story vs. just goofing around killing orcs. There are also a ton of different side missions that can be even more fun than the main story line which has kept me continuing to play the game even after the main story line was completed. The fighting combinations were fun, and not overwhelming or hard to remember. My old downside was that once you've maxed out your skills the game does get pretty easy as the AI doesn't scale your enemies as quickly as you're able to improve.

This game is a whole lot of fun to play. It can get somewhat repetitive at times, but not as annoyingly as a lot of games. The open world gives you a lot to do.

It's like Assassin's Creed in many ways, however it does add its own unique style. I love the combat system and the visuals are fantastic highly recommended.

I don't game as often as I used to, but this game has me sucked in. Violent, fun, and challenging. Fun story as I am enjoying it immensely.

Not an easy game, but the graphics are good and the story is decent; only bummer is no co-op, but the cheap price makes it virtually a steal with all DLC.

Shadow of Mordor offers a refreshing take on the action/adventure genre, and has been an absolute 5/5 during my time playing it. The combat system is truly incredible (once you get past its awkward learning curve), and there are many dozens of ways to hack, slash, and execute the enemy orcs and Uruks. Combat primarily focuses around your sword (general combat), your dagger (sneaking), and bow (ranged). Each weapon can be upgraded with runes that offer unique powers/abilities, and eventually you gain access to an ultimate attack for each. The story will feel right at home for LOTR fans, and is tied in nicely with the lore without going overboard. Perhaps my favorite part of the game is the nemesis system, where regular baddies you encounter can be reward with promotions for killing you. They grow in strength, change in physical size, and gain new powers and even bodyguards as they become more of a badass. There are different ranks of the bad guys you encounter, but you can find ways to exploit their weaknesses by interrogating orcs that you fight in combat or by picking up intel from around the map. Very cool system, especially when you are finally able to behead your Revenge Target! :D This game is a must play, and the added DLC adds tons of fun to an already entertaining game!

Love this game, awesome story line and gameplay, graphics are good. I lose myself in the game and then realize I been playing for hours.

Great game. Awesome graphics. Responsive controls. Unique story that falls in line with LotR. All LotR fans should try this game.

The game has a great story and combat system. it is fun to play even after you beat the game. Everyone should try it on PS4

I have returned to my younger, unmarried, child-free days by becoming completely immersed in this game. It is fun and challenging and definitely not for children! I can unleash my inner dark side by unleashing stealth attacks upon unsuspecting foes... and feel great about it. At times the XBox controls (left analog) are a little finicky, hence a 4/5 instead of a full 5. Very worthwhile and if you are a LoTR fan, you will enjoy some of the historical back story.

This is an open world game that sets you int he Lord of the Rings universe. It uses many mechanics invented in other series and isn't the most original game because of it, but does put those systems together well that make a good experience. It's worth noting that if you are an achievement hunter this game of the year addition has a separate set of achievements from original release and you can earn them again for this game if you want to. It's the only title on Xbox One that you can earn achievements for both versions of the game released on that same platform.

I haven’t finished the game yet. However the story, graphics and gameplay are awesome!

This game is decent. The combat it good. The world feels kind of empty though. The Nemesis system is cool.
