Customers enjoy the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Many also praise the game's beautiful open world and responsive controls. However, some players find the difficulty challenging, and a few note limited replayability after completing the main story. The game's strengths clearly outweigh its weaknesses for most players.

Shadows of Mordor's nemesis system will be worth the money alone. Lots of fun Assassin's Creed-like mechanics in an open world that feels straight out of Tolkien.

Shadow of Mordor combines many gaming systems from popuar franchises such as assassins creed and the arkham series into a wildly fun open world game. Set in the lord of the rings universe, bringing you back to the world you love. The nemesis system is a welcomed unique addition to gameplay not found in any other game out there.

I at first wasn't going to pick up this game because I never really followed the Lord of the Rings series, but after watching some early reviews on this I decided to give it a chance.
It's as if the Batman, Assassins Creed and Lord of the Rings games got thrown in a mixing pot and this is what came out. Pretty awesome in my books.
The fighting is great. There is a large variety provided by the runes that make sure you don't get bored with the combat.
Each different section of Mordor is unique and fun to explore. For example, you start off in a barren land filled with slave drivers and then find yourself exploring the sweeping grasslands of Middle Earth.
The nemesis system is perhaps my favorite part of the game. This system brought back a sense of "strategy" that is so often lost in modern video games. It also adds a sense of "political hierarchy" to Sauron's army. I have become so invested in this system that I have begun to to plan my attacks according to which Uruk character should rule. It feels like a live interactive puzzle in an action game setting. You really need to watch videos on this to see how great it is.

Shadow of Mordor combines visceral combo-based combat, stealthy assassinations, and a vast open world to create a fun, deep game. The game has a story to follow along with, but I honestly did not pay much attention as I was having too much fun murdering orcs in increasingly violent and imaginative fashion. You’re going up against an entire army of orcs, which include a dynamic cast of captain- and warchief-level “boss” types. If you kill a captain, he is removed from the ranks – but if he kills you, he’ll likely be promoted up the chain of command. As you kill more orcs, your character can gain new skills which make combat easier, but also more complicated. The game truly opens up again after you gain the “brand” ability in the later stages, allowing you to build an orc army of your own. While you can complete story line missions to advance the plot, the most fun is had when you’re just roaming the world, completing sidequests, and killing orcs by the dozen. Truly an innovative game system, this is one you don’t want to miss.

Shadow of Mordor is a lot of fun. It's similar to Assassin's Creed in the fact that it is open world, but the amount and difficulty of enemies gives something more. The world is not huge, but there is plenty to explore with new captains and events happening all over as the dynamic of the world changes with the nemesis system. You really find yourself making enemies/targets. I have one guy who has killed me multiple times, and I find myself always looking for a new way to kill this one guy in particular while I work my way through the story.
Gameplay is simple, fighting is like Arkham Asylum or any Assassins Creed game. Abilities unlock as you level and complete different missions. Sometimes there is camera/viewing angle issues when you get a crowd of enemies pushing you into a corner, but over all this game is great. If you like the other games mentioned or love the LOTR world, I would say go get it. It will provide hours and hours of gameplay (currently 13% through with 5 hours into the game)

I'm not a fan of Lord of the Rings at all but this game still engrossed me all the way through. It has the open world traversal and exploration of an Assassin's Creed game combined with the excellent fighting system of the Batman Arkham games. The added twist of named enemies that power up whenever they strike you down is a great feature that I hope other games include in the future.
