This game is very fun. If you liked the first game you will enjoy this one as well. I have seen lots of complaints about the game having micro transactions, but I have not purchased any and I can assure it does not take away from the game. You can earn upgrades if you are patient.

I didn’t buy the Shadow of Mordor until a couple of months ago but became obsessed. Preordered this game but was worried about how it would compare. I’m only a couple hours in but it’s incredible. The new style of gameplay that’s very familiar but a little upgraded is fantastic!

I purchased his for my 13 yr old son and he loves the game. He says the Gold edition is worth it, if you will play the game as much as him. The only negative at this time is that It did not come with the free ring and no instruction if you were to get it through the mail.

To all the people complaining about the microtransactions, DONT BUY THEM THEN!! Simple as that, the game is great and fun just like the last one, it's not necessary to progress. Yes in an ideal world they wouldn't be there but for all that we get it's an amazing trip

The graphics are spectacular, the story is great, but this is just about counter hack and slash.

This game is amazing. do yourself a favor and play it on Nemesis. I have already spent like 30 hours on this game and I'm only 42 percent complete. I spend a lot of time having orcs fight in the pits! if you can only buy one game this year let it be this one...

Having owned the first in the series Shadow of Mordor I was prepared to purchase Shadow of War. This game exceeds the first one in many ways and is an exceptional game. The improved adaptability of the enemies to your tendencies is borderline scary.

This is a great sequel to Shadow of Mordor, I was way behind when I played the original, but ended up loving it. Towards the end it got a bit repetitive, but sequel has added new elements and fixed a lot of those issues, definitely worth it!

The game is similar to Shadow of Mordor, but with enough differences to create a new experience... and that's without me having gotten to Act II, where I understand more of the new features are involved.
It's always fun battling orcs!

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Gold Edition - Xbox One is potentially the best game of the year. They have made the second game even better than the first one. When the Xbox one X comes out the game will upgraded to 4K and look awesome.

Game is deep in the dynamics of customizing character as well as how the A.I. is involved . Many hours will be taken to complete the game at 100%. Also, strategy is needed in some areas of the game. Great visuals and graphics.

I don't always have a ton of time to play games, but this game really allows me to go at my own pace and so far I haven't found it too be too difficult or too easy. Great graphics, yes at times seems a bit slow as you go from mission to mission and have to go back to places you've been a bunch of times, but all in all a good game and not a waste of money in my opinion.

Great follow up to Shadow of Mordor. I bought it on release and have almost 70 hours played already, only about half way through story and collectibles. If you like open world and slaughtering orcs, this is a game for you.

So far this feels basically like a DLC of the original.
I am only a couple of hours in, but it just seems like a whole lot of grinding to build your character up and they took elements from Destiny using weapon and supply levels.
You can even rank up faster with microtransactions.

The game is definitely an improvement over the original Shadow of Mordor, which is also an excellent game. Hard to give a fully detailed review as I'm still in the early stages but well worth the price

Combine Batman style combos with Assassin creed style freerunning now place it all in LoTR. This game had epic written all over it and it didn’t disappoint. Took me about a month to complete which in my opinion makes it well worth the cost. Plus the steel book is good quality doesn’t feel like cheap aluminum like some other games.

Shadow of War takes what was excellent in Shadow of War and expounds upon it! This is a must play for fans of Tolkein, Lord of the Rings, Shadow games and even Batman Arkham games!

It's a step up from the first game. Bigger world with plenty to do within it. The difficulty has been amped up, whether playing on easy, normal, or nemesis (hard). I'm playing on nemesis. So you'll need to plan out how you're going to face captains, war-chiefs and the orcs around them. I had to runaway several times to heal up and come back to eventually killing or dominating them. I'm enjoying the challenge tho.
The graphics are okay. I feel they could be more polished. However, my opinion on that might change come Nov. 7th when I get my Xbox One X and the enhancements it will be bring to the game.
Reason for 4 stars: There is a known issue with the DLCs and the Expansion Pass that comes with the Gold Edition and Mithril Edition for Xbox One. The codes for the Expansion Pass is giving players, including myself the digital copy of the standard edition of Shadow of War instead of the Expansion Pass. Also, players are not receiving the DLCs within the game. Warner Brothers and Xbox are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it.

I loved the first one. This is similar but now including proper loot. However the systems are very complex. The maps are wonky so you’re on your own trying to figure this stuff out.
Gameplay is great and the Orc are more challenging to me, which I like.
It’s worth buying and so is the first one.
