    its nice i get good reception with it the only thing i was dissapointed it is i was expecting that emergency wether channels that it was advertised to have but to my surprize there wasnt any weather channel on it ...bummer...

    I was looking for a compact unit w the required controls, with high performance, for my Ford Mustang. My Firestik II, 3', is trunk mount using Opek AM-204-7-SM. The SWR is 1.2 on chnl 19. This Midland 5001Z, with my 3' Firestik II antenna, is the right combination to make this radio SHINE!. My reception is about 4 miles max due to shorter 300 Watt antenna. A 4 foot antenna would get my 6-7 miles in good conditions. I also have an 8 year old Galaxy 929 that I bought new, and still working and still sold today.

    Does not get the 7 weather channels that Best Buy advertises! Dissapointing
