I bought this movie for my grandchildren. When they opened the package on Christmas morning, they were thrilled. They wanted to watch it right away, but we had to finish opening presents and eat breakfast first. I never saw them open gifts so quickly, and eat so fast. Then in it went and they were mesmerized. My four-year-old grandson loves the Minions, and he sat as close to the TV as he could to watch, clapping his hands and laughing. I would recommend this movie for anyone with young children (and old children like me) to be enjoyed together over and over.

Relaxing is important at my age and most movies today feature drama, action or both. Well, so do the Minions movies but they also make you laugh, or go "ahhh" while they do it. While I'll tell people I bought this for the grandkids the secret is I like the little yellow scoundrels myself. Plus much of humor, music and associations seemed more aimed at people my age. Anyway, it's a fun, relaxing, far-out and humorous tale about how the modern "little rascals" came to be the comical henchman they are today. Great extra features - I look forward to more movies!

Since the original Despicable Me, the scene stealers, the characters that have shined- and in many ways, been the bridge that made a children's movie enjoyable for both kids and adults, have been the gibberish-speaking, silly, 3 Stooges' schtick Minions with all their tomfoolery. And while one has to question the Minions' self-awareness (or sense of self-preservation) with their antics, the bigger question might be how the creators lost sight of what made Despicable Me & DM2 so special. That special quality- a movie made for kids, with universal slap-stick comedy with subtle hints at comedy for adults- cleverly hidden and left imperceptible to kids- is fairly lost here in what should be an amazing movie with the pill shaped mascots taking front & center. Part of this is their own fault in making Gru (by all indications & hints) approximately 60 years old... With the Minions movie as a vehicle to the Minions meeting a young Gru, the setting takes place in 1960s England. As a 44 year old (with a 2 year old) even I had a hard time being able to identify with the time period... It just wasn't personal enough. As I watched more obvious jokes come via the form of lava lamps, bell bottoms, the Monkees' theme song, and the famous Beatles' Abbey Road album cover, it felt like this was less a movie for today's children and more for producers, directors, etc inner children. That's not to say children won't have any fun whatsoever, but what was a golden-yellow opportunity for the Minions to shine seems to have been lost in using this movie with the intention of appeasing too many adults; which is a shame, because, in my case, watching these movies with my son (who can watch Despicable Me 1 & 2 over & over, not so with Minions, where he surrenders before reaching the credits) is 3/4 of my enjoyment. Seeing him laugh and get into the movie is enjoyment enough... The previous movies sprinkled just enough in for me that they were favorites in the family genre. Minions seems to reverse that formula, expecting my son to be satisfied by seeing me enjoy humor he just won't get- it doesn't quite work that way. It's hard to call Minions a full failure, as it does have scenes where it's more true to its roots, and keeps us all laughing. The problem is, they don't last nearly as long as the previous entries in the series. With Despicable Me 3 on the way next year (and the end of Steve Carell's starring role as Gru) one can hope they recapture the magic, as well as hope that Gru isn't the crutch that's needed to continue the series. The world needs more Minions, but after the end of Carell's run, I hope the Minions movie isn't what is in store for any future iterations.

I purchased MINIONS on Blu-Ray for my little sister's Christmas and we decided to put it in the ole PS3 on Christmas night..absolutely beautiful 1080p presentation by Illumination Entertainment! It's absolutely gorgeous and the sound on Dolby Digital HD sounds amazing! The quality of the Blu-Ray is awesome! The film itself is widely entertaining to those of all ages! We laughed outloud numerous times! This version also came with the Blu-Ray, DVD, and DIGITAL HD so you can watch anywhere and anytime! Highly recommended!!!!

Really enjoyed the origin story of the Minions, even more some of the music to the movie. I bought the soundtrack on iTunes and liked that it had some actual 60-70s tunes, some Minion versions of the songs of the era (love "Revolution" and "Hair") as well as the orchestral soundtrack. I don't want to give away anything, but I was a bit disappointed they didn't show the Minions meeting with a young Dr. Nefario for the first time - I figured they could have worked that in pretty easily given his age in the Despicable Me movies.

As a family, we love the Minions universe (Gru, Lucy and the whole gang including Stewart, Kevin & Bob). We bought this title for our cousin who's just getting into the Minions and it does not disappoint. This package comes with a Blu ray (for the house) and DVD (we use on long car rides) and the digital file which works for us on Apple TV and our phones, tablets and more!

Fun movie to go along with the Despicable Me series. The story line is simple but the minion actions make you laugh out loud. This is not a serious movie. It's fun to watch. Take it at that. Now for the disk set. You get a Blu-ray and DVD in the package. You also get a coupon to download the movie through ITunes and sign up for Ultra Violet for streaming services. Personally I cannot stand anything Apple or ITunes on Windows. It never works. I installed ITunes and downloaded the movie in Apple's MP4 format. It can only be played through ITunes and only if you meet their specification for digital HD delivery. Needless to say it did not work for me. Your mileage may vary.

Besides the main feature, there are three short films. Where and when did the Minions come (from)? How did they get connected to their beloved Despicable "villain?" These kinds of questions are answered with the backdrop of the history of humankind in this latest installment of animated fun villains. Even adults will enjoy the satire and opportunities to poke fun at famous historic figures. Everything Minion is here, including their biggest struggle, tangling a very evil female super-Villain.

Our family are fans of the Minions franchise. Our grandchildren, in particular, just love Bob & Kevin, so selecting this Blu-ray/DVD combo was an easy choice. We were not disappointed once we popped the DVD into our notebook PC for our granddaughter. She loved it. My husband and I recognized the songs chosen for the musical score right away as they were longtime favorites. To that end if you're a minions fan like us, proceed with confidence in your purchase decision. You'll be glad you did.

We bought the LG UF8500 65" television and the first one we brought home was cracked across the screen and had a spider web crack at the bottom of the screen. The second one we took home had what looked like a bubble on the top right corner of the screen and when we turned it on there were lines running up and down on the screen. The picture wasn't viewable so we had to pack up our 2nd television and once again return it. So we were a little reluctant to take a third one home, but finally I think we have a good one. At least this one wasn't damaged and so far it's working well in its first week! It has a great picture so I hope it holds up.

This is personally my least favorite of the Minions movies, when counting Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2. I think that's because when the Minions speak I hear jibber jabber. BUT, I love the Despicable Me movies, which my kids have purchased for me for past Christmas presents. My son loves this one, which is why I purchased as a Christmas present for him. Seems like a lot of stuff at the movies and on TV for kids to watch isn't really appropriate, but I grew up in the 80s when The Bad News Bears was PG, so what do I know. There are a lot worse things that he could be watching right now, so I will deal with Minion jibber jabber.

Another great addition to the "Despicable Me" series. The minions are hysterical, and the plot is fun and exciting. It was nice to see the origins of the minions and their various bosses throughout history, and the addition of many villains gave the movie a thrilling aspect. And Bob is just adorable! It was also great to see a young Gru get his start. This was a fabulous movie that anyone who is a fan of the series or animated comedies in general will love.

My son loves anything with Minions. This was another that met his demand. It has 3D blu ray, blu ray, DVD, and a code for a digital copy. Unfortunately, you need iTunes for the digital copy. That is the only drawback. And when you DL the movie to a Windows 10 computer with iTunes, it will NOT playback in high definition for some reason. Only drawback. Otherwise, you can DL the movie in standard definition to any device with iTunes.

This is the perfect prequel to the Despicable Me series, the Mionions are adorable and hilarious, though never fully explained 100% but enough so that you get a kick out of their wacky evolution. And it even touches on how they came to work for Gru, which is priceless. The cast is stellar, the movie really holds the attention of kids without any slow points, and if you like goofy hijinx, it's full of them!

If you liked 'Despicable Me 1 or 2', you'll like this movie. Tie-in at the end to 'Despicable Me' villain. Fortunately, the writers kept the dumb & dumber type moments to a minimum. Most of the stupid actions lead to funny results, with the jokes often having two levels, one for adults & one for children. The extras offer added value to the main movie. I'd recommend this as a stocking stuffer, despite lots of cartoon violence.

Gru, and specifically his transition from bad guy to good guy is really what ultimately made Despicable Me 1 and 2 the quality that they are, but his back up in the minions are SOLID. So having their own film was obvious and seemed like a sure thing. Sadly, they quality of the writing fell a bit short and the film suffered for it. Ultimate a good film, but I wouldn't pick it over either prequel any day of the week. I did laugh out loud a few times though, and in some scenes, laugh out loud every time, so that's really saying something.

I love the little yellow guys but when the movie "Minions" came out, my 27 yr old son said it was a waste of money. I listened because he just graduated college with a degree in fine arts having studied movies. Well his girlfriend wanted to see it so they rented it from Red box and my son changed his tune and said he liked it better than the Despicable Me movies. I love it and have recommended it to a lot of people.

If you loved Despicable Me and it's sequel, you'll love this story of how the Minions came to be Gru's henchmen. They are the same cute, funny, irrepressible guys that have no filter and dare to do anything, anywhere. This great story takes you from the prehistoric age to present day villainy. And the extras are always wonderful to watch! You don't have to be a kid (or even have any) to love this movie.

Universal Studios & Illumination Entertainment outdone themselves when they made this movie. It is very funny I busted my gut laughing at the outrageous stuff that went on in this movie. Even though it was computer graphics, it was extremely well done and they had some high profile actors for the spoken parts. I highly recommend this movie to the applicable audience and above. You will not regret it.

Can't go on a day without saying a minion line. This movie is suited for both kids and adult. Even adults without kids. I like the time line with narration considering that we can't understand the little twinkie looking characters. You laugh, you don't cry, and then laugh again. I've seen it more times than any other cartoon movies. Blu-ray is best of course and got a free lunch bag from bestbuy.
