Well done reenactment of the true life story. We also enjoyed the casting stories in the special features section.

When you watch it, keep a tissue handy. Kurt Russel makes an amazing hockey coach, and the passion that the rest of the actors and actresses put into this true life story makes it as believable as if you were back in the time when it actually happened. I have a lump in my throat and glassy eyes even as I type this, because this movie brings back all the emotions I experienced when watching the "Miracle on Ice" live during the 1980 Winter Olympics! Americans are bizarre people at times. We can be fat and lazy, preferring the easy way over the tough one for the most part, but don't get us riled up because history, as this movie re-enacts, proves that we are unstoppable when our strengths are awakened... I have read reviews that criticize this movie as 'predictable.' Hello??? It is history--we already know what happened!!! This is Hollywood embellishment at its best: a movie as much about David beating Goliath as it is about the hearts, lives and sacrifices the players put into the win... If nothing else, I will be showing this movie to my grand kids as an important part of the history of this Nation.

I concur with every word that Miracle tells the story of the gold medal-winning 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, who were led by coach Herb Brooks -- portrayed by Kurt Russell in a believable performance. The costume designer deserves kudos for her spot-on fashions that make me glad the 80's are over. This is a feel good movie that can bring a tear to the eye as you gleam with pride at the way this group of young men, despite set-backs, strove to achieve the impossible. The movie is widescreen that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. This two-disc set is loaded with supplemental materials including a commentary track recorded by director Gavin O'Connor, editor John Gilroy, and cinematographer Daniel Stoloff. They discuss many aspects of the production including the director's decision to cast the team with people who could actually play hockey. A look at how Kurt Russell met and absorbed the nuances of Herb Brooks (who passed away shortly before the film opened in theaters), a feature on the sound design of the film, and outtakes round out this excellent release.

A great film, especially if you like seeing the Russian hockey team lose. There wasn't as much hockey action as I expected. Instead, it displayed how much work and effort went into building the USA team that ended up beating the Russians in the finals of the 1980 Winter Olympics. Even knowing they would win, I was still on the edge of my seat during that game between two arch enemies.

My son had not seen this movie and to watch it on the anniversary of the event was special. He asked if it was a true story!! Now that some of these heroes are no longer with us it was extra special. Kurt Russell nailed Herb Brooks in this role. Also the extra features show how they shot the ice level scenes and for the time the movie was made, it was pretty amazing to do without cgi. Cameras on sticks skating at 35 mph to make it authentic was really cool. It didn't win the Oscar but had cinematography techniques that 25 years later, were used to shoot Birdman.

Disney does an underdog sports movie about once every 5 years or so. This one and the recent "Queen of Katwe" are my favorites. Decided we needed to get it after the kids got so invested in this year's Olympics (and because I've been meaning to own it for a long time and just hadn't gotten around to it). Try to get all of my movies as combo packs since I never know what is going to be snagged for the car DVD player during road trips, so having both blu-ray and DVD is great.

This movie has it all!... Its had me cheering out loud!... It also has heart warming emotions. I remember the true event. Living in Atlanta.... The goalie Jim Craig on that team was a draft pick of the Atlanta Flames NHL Hockey team. That made it more special to me! If you haven't seen this movie? You don't know what you are missing!

    Believe in the Unbelievable

The movie is outstanding for it transcends the sports world and even American patriotism. While the crowing of a champion and the love of country are evident, it is the "team mentality" that supersedes the individual that is remarkable. When people work for something greater than the name on the back it is possible to believe in the unbelievable.

From the start to the end this movie had me on the edge of my seat. I am a sport nut and this movie is just awesome. The worst part about the movie is that it eventually ends. This movie is great for any sport fan or any American at that! This movie marks the greatest moment in American sports history so anyone that wants to know more about sports in American and the importance of it, this is a must have!

The "Miracle " is a story of USA Olympic hockey team leading path to the medal-round game during the men's ice hockey tournament at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, played between the hosting United States, and the four-time defending gold medalists, the Soviet Union

It is just a well-made movie that checks all the boxes for what you want to feel in a good sports film. The underdogs, the training montage, overcoming obstacles, and a miraculous victory in the end. I also enjoyed the updates on the actual subjects in the credits.

If you're like us, you don't have a lot of Olympic memories from your childhood. But if you're over a certain age, who can ever forget where they were the night of the miracle on ice? What an inspiring story of a bunch of athletes who worked their tails off.
