Wasn't expecting much for this one, but I was pretty surprised. It kept interested and in suspense the whole time.

"FAN"tastic!!
I didn't know MISERY could look this good and it does now.
The 4K version is the BEST it has looked, probably since it has debuted in the theaters back in 1990.
Well done Kino Lorber! Thank you for making this a 4K version
with the slip cover!
Kathy Bates and James Caan are one heck of a duo on this movie.
Highly recommended!

A still tense and scary adaptation, even today

Even after nearly 26 years have passed since "Misery" was adapted to film, stand-out performances by Kathy Bates and Jame Caan help to make it one of the most memorable and tense psychological thrillers to date. This twisted tale of obsession and survival still packs a punch even in light of newer, gorier, films and should be essential viewing to any fan of the horror genre. Rock bottom pricing makes this Blu-ray a great buy and the commemorative packaging (redesigned cover collector card) was a nice touch. Definitely a great deal.

This is essential viewing. It's a testament to the adage, "Less is more." Many horror movies suffer nowadays from being overstuffed with gore and scenes designed for shock (admittedly this movie has at least one truly horrifying scene involving violence). This is what horror is really all about. Two characters played by two amazing actors in a claustrophobic setting with an excellent premise. That's really all you need, and the rest plays out naturally. It's a tense and well constructed ride.

One of the best Stephen King adaptations

Definitely one of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel. It's one of his shorter novels so it might have been easier to adapt than something like "It", but so much of it takes place in one room so it's difficult in its own way. Great direction from Rob Reiner (also the director of another great King adaptation - "Stand by Me"). Iconic Oscar winning performance from Kathy Bates and great work from James Caan as well. Good Scream Factory Blu-ray release.

I had never seen this movie before purchasing it and I am glad I went with the 4K version. With the movie being a cult classic I figured it was best to go with the most enhanced copy and let me tell you… the movie was stunning. Kathy Bates is brilliant and terrifying. Can’t believe I waited so long to watch this masterpiece.

I loved the movie Misery when it came out, and I have been looking for it everywhere, to show my daughter who is now old enough to view those types of movies. I was so happy to find it at Bestbuy. Since Videostop went under, it’s hard to find the older movies. Thanks Bestbuy, for having a great selection of the greats from the 80s and 90s! I hope you continue to stock your stores with more great titles.

In Steven King’s screen adaptation of Misery, superb acting and direction allow this chilling story come to life. An award winning writer slides of the snowy road on the way to deliver his latest book to publishing when he is rescued by his biggest fan. Though all seems well at first things are not what they seem and the author finds himself held captive at the mercy of his rescuer...

I was hoping that at some time a special edition would be released of this classic. Kathy Bates is just head on as a crazy fan. This collector's edition gives you plenty of extra's that are way cool. I know some people are not into that but I think this release was geared towards collectors of fine movies. It has all the elements of a good drama and suspense.

Misery is one of the more well-known Stephen King pieces out there and not without good reason. Keeping the viewer amidst a state of continuous emotional tension throughout, Misery is an effective piece of horror that manages to keep things quite grounded in reality. The transfer of this particular blu-ray release is excellent and is sure to please old fans and new viewers alike.

They finally gave us Misery in 4K. I love the movie and the acting was great. The transfer to 4K was better than I hoped for. My only regret is that is did not come with a digital copy.

James Cann's Misery

This has been one of the best movies based on Stephen Kings work, besides the obvious The Shining. Kathy Bates does a magnificent job doing the role of an obsessed lady who goes to the point of keeping James Cann as a personal pet. I think the original violent scene on Paul's legs was better in the novel, but it was still interesting to watch.

A Shocking Horror/Thriller

A shocking horror/thriller that has stood the test of time. It was VERY shocking when it first hit theaters, but it has really held up well over time. Even thought the movie is not entirely faithful to King's book, it still is a classic in it's own right. If you've not seen Misery, you need to. You'll never see a sledgehammer the same way again!

This movie is a pretty fair translation of the book. It tells the story of a rabid fan finding her favorite author injured from a car wreck. She basically tortures him into rewriting the ending of a book under the guise of healing him. He does all he can to hatch an escape plan from his imprisonment.

In my own opinion this is definitely an underrated movie from the late 80s early 90s. This is by far one of the greatest Stephen King's novel that was turned into a movie. I'm not going to have any spoilers all I have to say is that this is definitely a must-have and a watchable movie for anyone!
