MLB 10 The Show is so realistic. It duplicates each the baseball stadium's details, fans, and even the atmosphere. Road to the Show just keeps getting better and Franchise mode is perfected. This game is the reason why people buy PS3.

Best baseball game hands down... but with bugs

MLB 10 the show is as close to a real life baseball game as you can get. If you don't play in the major leagues, then at least you can feel like you do when you play.
There are so many game modes. Let me break it down...
Franchise (offline) - You run all aspects of a MLB team. Included are everything about managing players just like in real life. You have arbitration, MLB service time, 40-man rosters (including September call-ups), Minor league options, Trade Waivers, Optional Waivers, Designate for Assignment, Rule 5 picks, etc.). There is even a handbook in game to explain what all of them mean. Trust me... you will need it... or you will find yourself accidentally placing someone on waivers to only have him plucked by another team. You control everything... from rosters... to trades... to management decisions. It is so in depth that it will keep you busy for hours!!! (I've lost a lot of sleep due to losing track of time.)
Franchise (online) - AWESOME!!! You can do leagues online with your friends. You can either chose a team to start or have a fantasy draft. It will keep track of Head2Head stats as well as league leaders!!! The playing of leagues online is vastly improved. You can pre-play your games if someone is online. This is a great improvement to help ensure leagues will be completed.
Exhibition - Standard like most games. However, you can choose many different options like stadiums and other uniforms or pit a minor league team against an MLB one.
HR Derby - Try to hit as many HRs as possible using the same format as in real life!!!
Road To The Show - This is the games bread-n-butter. You create a player and follow his career through the minors, spring training, and majors. You play your player only. You can choose to base-run, field, or hit... it's completely up to you and what you prefer. You will have to go through the ups and downs just like a real major league ballplayer. The organization will call you up or send you down... negotiate your contract... compete with other players for playing time. You get training points as you play that you can spend to upgrade your player. You will even have training sessions like Batting Practice, Base-running, and Fielding. If you don't follow the coaches instructions (ie. steal bases when you don't have the green light), you'll be riding the pine. Continue to ignore signs, and you will be cut or shipped out of town faster then Milton Bradley!!! Do you have what it takes to become a Hall Of Famer?!?
Improvements over MLB 09 - Waivers (Trade, Options, Designate for Assignment), Online League Play, Online Franchise Stats, Interactive Crowds, Real-Time Dugout/Bullpen Players, Graphics, Minor League Ballparks, Spring Training Ballparks, Old Classic Stadiums, DLC, RTTS Catcher "calls the game", HR Derby & Futures games
I'm sure I'm missing a few things... but you this is the main content.
There are some issues and bugs. Although most rosters have been updated, there are still many players missing. Roster updates are on Mondays, and hopefully this will be resolved once all MLB teams have trimmed their teams down to 40-man rosters. There are many strange bugs in the game. On the day of launch there were many issues. However, the support team released a patch within a few days that resolving the big issues. However, many other bugs and glitches exist. Thankfully they are mainly cosmetic and do not really affect the game-play at all. The support team is very good, and checks/comments on their website all the time. They highly encourage the submitting of bugs and take them very seriously.
In the end... there is NO other baseball game like MLB 10 The Show. The game-play far exceeds any other game, and the content provides many options for how you want to play it. Anyone new or experienced can just pick it up and play with adjusted options and difficulty. Due to the bugs and glitches, I was tempted to give it a 4 star rating... but with the quick resolution of the support team, and sine they don't really affect the game-play as far as I have seen... I'm still giving it 5 stars. It is definitely one of my favorite games, and is usually the Game in my PS3 the most often.

the first thing, its great as for most if not all games coming from the sony entertainment studios. as in years past2k has been the king of baseball, well lets just say that thats not the case as of last year when mlb the show 09 came out. i bought the game the day after it came out and have been playing it just about every other day. most games you get bored with after beating it like 3 times but with the show you can allways pick it up and play. one great feature about the game this year is the way you can do the rtts drills without makeing a player you can just jump into one of them ff the main menu. i loved this bc i was kinda rusty given i hadnt palyed any for months. anothe great add on that everyone was talking about was the catcher mode. it is very life like, it puts you into control over the game allowing you to call pitchouts and everything. pickoff moves, thats another thing that they added to the show. in last years version you could only do the ordinary pick offs the average ones but this year you can do fakes and deceptive step offs to nail the runner at first, but look out the computer knows hoew to use them too and can catch you looking also. so go get this game and stay on your toes.

If you own a 1080p HDTV with a HDMI cable with this game then you are in heaven. It's like watching a real baseball game.
It's simply a visual wonder to behold and it does not get any better than that.
The game play, graphics, Road to the Show, on-line play, catcher mode, and the feel of the game are just incredible.
Hail Sony! Keep up the great work.

THIS IS NOT THE MILLION DOLLAR GAME! IT IS BETTER

Don't let the person who first reviewed this game fool you.. This is NOT the million dollar game if you throw a perfect game. MLB2K10 is but that game is nothing compared to this great game! MLB 10 the show does not need to give away a million dollars as it is already a million dollar game to play!!! I can't wait to get this great game as there seems to be a lot of key improvements! First of all, they have the home run derby in the game this year. They also have fan chants and you can add your own music for your team (or individual players) to walk up to bat with while playing that selected song. Along with all of that, you also have some minor additions such as the fans being more realistic (example is the fans reaching over the railing to catch a ball) along with the occasional trash flying across the field. Of course, you can not forget the catcher mode that the show series has added on. All in all, the MLB the show series keeps getting better and better!!! I don't know how much better this game can get, but one thing I know for sure is I am definitely getting this game and if you are a baseball fan or a sports fan in general, BUY this game without hesitation! As far as graphics and overall game play, this game blows all other sports games (including Madden) out of the water!

Best Baseball Game Ever

As stated above, the best of it's genre. It's realistic play is second to none and would destroy MLB2K10 if wasn't for their $1M perfect game challenge. Home Run Derby is back and better than ever, except the pure randomness of the home run. You'll swing at identical pitches only to have different results every time, making that Hamilwho? trophy feel like Tabasco in the eyes My only complaint is the online play system, it's not smooth at all, you have to guess swing at the pitches and hope their strikes. Also, there is the option to quit early and it punishes BOTH players for the early quit. Unless you're in it for the platinum trophy, which is very hard and time consuming to get, you'll enjoy this game. If you're going for the Platinum, get ready to chuck you controller several times, especially on Hamilwho?.

I have been playing the MLB The Show games since the PS2; I have grown to enjoy these games (still the best baseball game I have ever played wast MVP Baseball 05 on GameCube: can't wait for EA Sports to get back into making MLB games once SCEA loses license exclusivity in a few years). Slowly but surely they have addressed issue that have made this game nearly untouchable by competitors. I wish that they didn't make you pay full price for what is basically an upgrade from the previous year (how about $39.99 for previous owners). Other than that, I definitely recommend this game to anyone who loves baseball.

The BEST for baseball games

Just bought a PS3 not too long ago mainly because I wanted to play this game. I played MLB 2K10 on Xbox 360 which I also liked after 2K Spots failed miserably with 2K9. Overall MLB 2K10 is a greatly improved but it doesn't even match up to MLB 10 The Show. Of course, gameplay and graphics are always the biggest things between two rival games, but for me it's the little things that I see that The Show does, for instance, more realistic franchise gameplay, more ballparks including spring training, grey away pants for alternate uniforms (2K doesn't do, drives me crazy), and realistic player action/reactions example: player high fives and after game celebrations. MLB 10 The Show beats MLB 2K10 in every category except for one... in detail! MLB 10 The Show adds tremendous detail that makes the game feel REAL!!! That one category by the way is "catchers gear". The future MLB 11 The Show needs to fix the graphics for catchers equipment as well as being able to customize the masks and protective gear. MLB 2K10 has more "realistic" looking catchers". Overall the Show is the Best basball game out there!!!

Some people complain that they did not make any major changes to this series. That's because they didnt have to! The changes they did make are subtle but very welcomed. The new game presentation, menus, online play, etc... are all well appreciated. Plus, I feel like hitting is more at the '07 or '08 level, much easier than '09. This makes the game much more fun for all. Overall, the game is a must buy!

Are You Surprised That The Show 10 Is better than last year well it is graphics better gameplay better finally have hr derby online still has its bugs but its actually playable so they actually took a step forward batting is better this more responsive & the pitching meter is also the batter & pitching stances are more natural this year finally almost everyone has the real life stances sounds of the show is better allowing you to pick what song your teams hears when you hit a HR strike a guy out win or lose good thing to have and even RTTS when you are creating your player put three songs when he walks up to the plate you'll hear a different song everytime you come up to bat instead of 1 like in 09 catcher mode is fun Overall Must buy for

Best Game of the Year For Sports

This is a very good game some minor flaws. I was expecting to get a good sound track like the previous year that had the remones etc. There is about 2 good songs but i know that I can upload my songs (which I did). The other thing is that you can have batting practice befor the game which is cool but every once in a while it freezes on a specific day. You can simulate past that day to play and it doesnt freeze. I expect that they will fix this problem within a week. Until then it gets a 4 star review.

I was looking for a game to play on my PS3, and I really love baseball so thats what I decided to get. I was looking at several Baseball applications and I was glad that there was a Best Buy Customer Rep near by. He was very in tune with the Pro's and Con's of the different games and told me that MLB10-The Show was specifically designed for the use on the PS3 by Sony, so how could you go wrong. The Graphics are incredible. Its almost like being the actual player and matched up with my LED- 40" TV, well all I can say is AWESOME!! I am older and not a regular player of video games and I was able to jump right in and play this game. I recommend it to any of the older adult players that don't play games much and want a game that is represented by real life games. You won't be sorry.

Overall the game is a great game for baseball fans. The glitches can be overlooked as they don't really interupt game play (unless the pitcher is doing an intentional walk, that will stall the game). Fans falling on the field trying to get a foul ball is funny stuff. The home plate umps getting hit with foul balls and falling over is hilarious. Many little added graphics make the game that much better. Fans actually moving, standing up and cheering during impact moments and getting out of their seats for foul balls.

I bought my PS3 a little while ago for 2 games, MLB and NFL games.
This game is awesome! It is so realistic that I actually get frustrated and almost angry when I don't throw that perfect pitch or hit that homerun. This game makes you feel like your right there.
Downsides are how much extra stuff they put in to make it take more time to do things, like practices during the superstar season.
All and all this is the best Baseball game I have ever played

Sports game of the year?

MLB 09 was great, you could make a case that it was sports game of the year. With that said, MLB 10 didn't need any major overhauls like say...MLB 2K10. I liked that they tried to add to the games greatness and left everything that the players liked alone. With the addition of catcher mode in RTTS, 30 team franchises, enhanced RTTS mode, I'm sure this game will be yet another home run with PS3 owners.

all mlb the shows have been great, and they just keep addig to th egreatness! no other ball game or sports game at that can come a step close to mlb the show. the RTTS (road to the show) mode is amazing, and the online play is so much fun. only flaw i can list is the chat ability, on 09 it was supposed to be headset compat, but it was very weak! i hope that is fixed in 2010. and as for that mill bucks, sounds fun, i pitched 2 perfect games in 2009 on the show, outa my 600 games played. so good luck, your the fool if you buy 2K over the show!

Please don't review a game before it is actully out. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of being a RE-view. that being said, the graphics are great, the gameplay is great. If you love baseball there isn't really a choice in games this year. This is the one you want. If you don't have a PS3 with GOW coming soon it might be time to get one.
