This new installment of Monster Hunter Cross (generations) is one of the best playing, most balanced MH to date. Questing seems a lot more straight forward and paced this time around, the crafting system changes are a welcomed improvement over the past ways to make weapons. the new monsters look cool and have interesting abilities, farming doesn't seem like such a chore now, SnS has oils to help enhance their use and abilities (especially when starting out) all in all a great MH game to play! BTW they standardized the performance so no matter what version of the 3ds you have you can expect the same type of gameplay, solid! so go out and get it!

The Monster Hunter games are fun, but are all a bit hard to get into. This game is a bit less slow at the start, but the combat styles they added in are an extra learning curve. There's no G rank this time, but you ended up getting a similar challenge later on anyway.

Monster Hunter Generations is a wonderful continuation of monster hunter, incorperating plenty of new and old elements to the game, serving to the hardcore fans but still keeping it simple enough to actually serve as one of the best introductory games to the series. The game runs well, and while the controls continue to be a tad obscure, you adapt to them, in time. The difficulty, in my opinion, is in the perfect sweet spot where even if you encounder something accidentally underleveled, theres still a chance you can take them on, but itll be plenty hard to do so. In terms of changes from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate; introductory cinematics for monsters where unfortunatly simplicated, so they arent as immersful. All the core weapons and their moves have been retained, but you may loose or gain some combos depending on what Hunter Art Style you use. (Using "guild" style, you can retain all controls/combos from mh4 while still being able to use hunter arts). All of the starting areas are very diverse, introducing you to hot/cool drinks almost immediatly. I found myself making things on the fly in the middle of a mission significantly more than I have in past titles. The prowler mode, albeit silly, is still immensly usefull, and packed pretty well with content. Whats best is that they are not restricted to any kinds of missions; you can play the entire game with just your palicos/cats. And if you get the right armors and skills, they can actually be more powerful than your actual hunter. It helps that they have tools that dont break for gathering materials like bugs and ores, helping the grinding proccess immensly. They also arent affected by heat/cold enviornments so you can freely learn the area or monsters without having to worry about any of that. I usually play solo for most of my playthrough, but having someone to play with online is also a load of fun. The friend in question is also a college student with terrible internet connection, but it worked out rather flawlessly in his experience. As for the features on the New 3DS; I hear the texture wuality is static between 3ds and n3ds, which is a bummer, but having the "c-stick" to control your camera is a lifesaver. Better yet, the zl and zr buttons actually DO SOMETHING so thats wonderful. I have them set to my hunter arts so I hardly have to use the touch screen at all unless Im signaling or something. To any monster hunter fans; you know already you'll love this game. To those looking to get a fresh start into the series, you're in good hands.

We have not had a chance to open and play this yet because it is a Christmas gift for our son. However he is 7 years old and seems to love this kind of game. So I am guessing it will go over real well. Will update after Christmas.

Been a hunter since the day one on the PS2. Though this one adds a little twist with some special moves, it makes the game feel more fresh than ever. The inclusion of those special moves allows the game to stand out from the rest.

    Amazing Anniversary Monster Hunter

Monster hunter generations celebrates a landmark of monsterhunter through throwbacks to many of the previous mainline games, while introducing new elements and monsters. The new hunter arts are fun to use, and the textures on monsters and particle effects from attacks have been noticeably improved from MH 4 Ultimate. Some may take issue with the game being locked at 30 FPS, or the lack of a G-rank as it is not an 'Ultimate' version of a game, but like always, there are more than enough thing to hunt to put several hundred hours into this game.

    Great entry for Monster Hunter

One thing monster hunter is known for is difficulty, and BIG monsters. Monster Hunter Generations brings monsters from every entry and adds new moves as well! This is another great entry for beginners, difficulty stays easy till around High rank (50hrs or so), which gives newcomers a good feel for what the game offers. You can easily sink 100+ hours if you are running through to the end of the game. The addition of Hunter Arts which are "super" moves or special attacks that build up as you inflict damage to enemies and add variety to just basic attack/combo's. On top of Hunter Arts, there Hunter Styles, which are Guild, Adept, Aerial, and Striker. The 4 styles have unique attributes to them, Guild is the original move set for weapons Adept allows counter attacks when dodge attacks Aerial allows you to jump into the air Striker you get the most Hunter Arts and fill them up quicker. A really nice feature that really kicks back to the old MonHuns is the travel mechanic to the different cities Pokke (MH1), Kokoto (MHFU), Yukomo (P3rd) as well as having redone themes which was a lovely touch! Also there's new types of monsters that will give any veteran a run for their money, Deviants which are unique types of monsters with new attacks compared to the original. Then there are Hyper monster, high HP certain body parts glow a blackish red glow that inflict more damage to you, but they also increase your hunter gauge quicker. A complaint i've read numerous times is that this MonsterHunter is to easy, I would completely disregard them. If you are thinking about Monster Hunter and you haven't made the jump, this is a great entry to jump on for newbies and veterans! Pros: +Variety combat +Many monsters from all around the series are here +Effort to balance armor skills +Improved online aspects +Deviant idea is cool, hope to have it improved more Cons -Sloppy monster intro videos -Beginning can be slow -Would liked to see more areas -Lack luster low rank armor skills Hope to see you hunting!!

Never thought so much game could be in such a tiny cart like this. I have honestly never played a Monster Hunter title, and kept holding out, thinking they couldn't be that great. Well, I'm an idiot for waiting, but apparently this is still a great place to start since it combines elements of the past titles with new features, so you get the best or most of the better parts of multiple titles (hence "Generations"). Recommended! Lots of learn, lots to do!

It's a pretty good game to play if you have someone to play with. It can be fun alone, but it may get boring fast that way. You hunt monsters for their parts, which you then use to create better gear to take on tougher bosses. There are a lot of missions that you can complete online and offline. You can connect online with up to three other people for coop play as well as for arena battle. Quite fun if you are looking for a game with a nice challenge.

Monster Hunter Generations is an awesome game that has made the series even more accessible to a wider audience. This game polishes a lot of the rough edges seen in Monster Hunter 3 and earlier. Even if you pick up Generations, Monster Hunter 4U may still be worth picking up.

I really didn't like the demo compared to MH4U. It seemed like a lot of changes, but its mostly the same great game. I'm always impress with how they made such a giant game for a portable console, and it goes on nearly forever. It can be a grind, it can get repetitious, but just pick up a different style of weapon and change your skills and it becomes interesting again. I really like this game.
