Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the extensive gameplay and abundant content as major strengths of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Many praise the game's large roster of monsters and the portability of the Switch version, while some mention a challenging difficulty and less streamlined controls compared to more recent entries in the series. The game's classic Monster Hunter formula and variety of weapons are also frequently cited as positive aspects.

Huge fan of the Monster Hunter Series. This game matches what you would find in other Monster Hunter titles. Monster Hunter Generations makes a few updates/changes for the series. The multiplayer lobby system is improved and easier to navigate than previous installments. Highly recommend if you have a few friends to play with. The gameplay/combat has some flashier special attacks to pull off, many feel pretty epic. I'm happy to see them.

My experience with Monster Hunter is still very fresh as prior to MHGU the only game I had played was Monster Hunter World which also came out recently. I do however have about 500 hours in MHW currently and I still play it. It should be noted however that MHGU is very different then World in many ways. World was designed to be a AAA experience for the mainstream consumer. GU is an english port of Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) which came out in Japan before World. MHGU represents the "Ultimate" experience of the old handheld MH titles, with a staggering number of monsters, weapons styles, weapon arts, and other features. However this game can be much less inviting to new players as it was mostly designed to be the pinnacle MH game for MH vets. That doesn't mean however that new players can't enjoy it, it just means you will have to do some extra work to break through the games many obtuse systems. That may not be everyone cup of tea but the people who stick with the game and watch guide videos online will discover an amazingly fun game loop with hundreds and hundreds of hours of things to do.

If you've played and and enjoyed previous Monster Hunter games and want more this is what you've been waiting for. Unless you've been craving more underwater environments and monsters then this game has everything you want from previous games. If you're new to the series or couldn't quite get into previous games you may want to check out Monster Hunter: World instead. It's got considerably less content (though you could still easily put in over 100 hours) but it is overall much more streamlined and it looks much better.

Has a steep learning curve, but is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Great value and much better than the 3DS version.

Pretty fun and challenging hunting the new monsters on here. The portability of the switch makes this really engaging because you can bring it with you to finish hunting instead of turning off the game.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is the culmination of everything Monster Hunter (before World). For anyone new to the series, or who started with World, this game can seem a little off putting at first early on, with it's slow start. As you get used to the games systems though, it becomes highly addictive and offers just an incredible amount of content and hours you can spend. The Co-Op is also very good, and I playing online it works fantastic. Highly recommend.

This game is awesome, I played 200+ hours on Monster Hunter Freedom back on the PSP and this game is even better. It includes the monsters, armors, and towns from all of the previous Monster Hunter titles. I wasn’t lucky enough to play the DS monster hunter games but now this game makes up for that. I think this is the definitive way to play the original monster hunter games without jumping into online with Monster Hunter World.

It has way more content than World but World has QOL improvements that Gen U is missing. You can tell this is an old 3DS game dressed up.

Another masterpiece Monster Hunter game. I can't say enough good things about these series, there are very few games out there worth the money and replay value but Monster Hunter takes the cake. It never disappoints, and is very addictive.

my wife is a huge monster hunter fan whereas i always had issues getting into it, mostly through the 3DS releases thanks to my larger hands and the not so ergonomic design of those handhelds. decided to give this new one a try with the pro controller and it's helped the learning curve of the mechanics and UI a lot. there are some design and map layout issues i have issues with, and there are some definite frustrations in the gameplay, but playing almost exclusively with my wife, it's a fun experience.

I love monster hunter!!! Now if you played monster hunter world, this game is completely different. Yes, you’re still hunting monster but the gameplay and the harvesting is a lot different. If you’re looking for a challenge, please get this game! It’s awesome but a lot more difficult than monster hunter world! It’s fun to play with a group!
